85 | FIRST DATE, PART ONE

Start from the beginning

"What do you mean by that?"

"Isn't it obvious?" She leant forward. "I'm giving you permission to kill for your safety and others."

You flinched.

Kill?

That only happened once because it was justifiable.

"A hero shouldn't need to kill—"

"Aren't you aware you already have?"

"Okay, Prez." Your palm faced her. "Let me finish my sentence first. One, you erased my memory via Doctor Hirahara and his quirk. Two, a hero shouldn't need to kill. If there was someone at that low point in their life, they weren't even saved by a hero in the beginning. This means, your society failed them from the start and it would be our turn to fix your mistakes."

She was gobsmacked as you just stood up without a reply. She failed the society she tried so hard to perfect? The nerve you had!

"Sit back—"

"No. I've had it."

You exhaled and waved to her from behind, feeling overwhelmed by confusion and anger.

"I'll know where to get my answers from on how you manipulated my head after you gave me those implanted chips. I'll find out and expose you. I promise you I'd quit. That'll be the next time we see each other. Have a nice day."

Hawks sat there, eyes wide and jaw metaphorically on the floor as you slammed her door.

"Woah. She just did that."

One of his talents was multitasking. With his phone and hands on his lap, he couldn't help but update the tweet he posted all those months ago before you met the President.

'UPDATE. Newbie just quit... kinda. Homicide to the ego of the boss and homicide to her job here. Double homicide? I might make a TikTok. Reply if you agree.'

When you walked outside, you stopped and realised what you did. You were planning on making a grander gesture on the day you planned to leave.

Maybe do it mid-battle or maybe after the infiltration was finished? But honestly? That task was already finished. Heroes across Japan were getting ready for what was near. There was no more need to go back here except when you said you'd quit the next time you met.

"Dammit. That wasn't as cool as I planned..."

"Well, I thought it was great. Award-winning actually."

You turned to the voice, knowing it wasn't Katsuki. Re-Destro emerged from the shadows and clapped.

"Bravo. We all heard everything from Hawks. Your visors seemed to be... where?"

"In my bag." He looked as though he wanted more information. "With my boyfriend. Who is not here. Clearly."

"Never mind then. Epochary, did you quit because you knew that you were being used?"

"Took me a while." You were shitting yourself. Not literally. This man in front of you had planned everything out from the beginning to get his side of society to take his side with no questions.
