King's Landing was unusually quiet, the only people in the streets were soldiers, Lannister, Unsullied, and Dothraki together, they tried to collect what was left of the bodies that burned because of the wildfire, the fire no longer burned but the ground and stones were still hot to the touch. Most people that lived in King's Landing were outside the city gates, that were now burned to the ground, they had gathered whatever possessions they had left and walked outside of the city as Daenerys had asked, she wanted to make sure the towers and buildings were safe before the people entered the city again, and the people that had sailed from Dragonstone now gave them water and food. The Red Keep was as empty as it had been when it was being built, the only people in the castle were Rhaella, Daenerys, Ser Jorah and Jon Snow, the last two were nowhere to be seen, while the Targaryen sisters stood in the Great Hall, staring at the Iron Throne.

Ashes fell from the skies covering the ground in a grey blanket and making it harder to breathe, but still, as the grey ashes fell in the sisters' hairs they looked forward, not taking their eyes off the Iron Throne. The Great Hall was almost all destroyed, the tall walls behind the throne and on the right side of the hall were all destroyed, Cersei's blood still stained the middle of the hall, and the walls that still stood were blacken and burned, the only things in the hall that was intact was the Iron Throne.

Both sisters had always heard stories about the throne, about how big and powerful it was, but all Rhaella saw was a pile of spikes and twisted metal, the throne was tall, half of the tall walls of the Great Hall, but the princess did not think it was powerful at all, it had a powerful meaning, the Conquest, but it was just an ugly metal chair in her opinion. She watched as her sister took steps closer to the throne, climbing its steps slowly, and as the Queen did, Ser Jorah and Jon walked into the fallen Great Hall.

Daenerys Stormborn walked towards the throne, and as the Queen started to climb the Throne's steps she felt uneasy, the only thing that made her more comfortable was the presence of Drogon behind the Throne, Rhaegon by the entrance, and her sister at the bottom of the throne. Daenerys felt like there were an endless number of iron steps on the thrones until she could sit on it, and all of a sudden there were no more steps, just a metal chair her ancestors had sat on for hundreds of years, where her father had sat on. Dany's first thought was that she was surprised she made it all the way up the iron steps without cutting herself on the very sharp blades of the throne, but she was glad she was finally there. The Dragon Queen closed her eyes and took a deep breath, if I look back I am lost, she thought, before turning around and seating herself on the throne.

Viserys had always told her the Iron Throne was uncomfortable to sit on, a king should never sit easy, her brother told her the words of Aegon the Conqueror himself, but it was much more uncomfortable than Daenerys had ever imagined. As she looked down at the destroyed Great Hall, the Queen saw her sister in the bottom of the iron steps, while Jon Snow and Ser Jorah were in the middle of the hall, and the latter was on his knees for his Khaleesi. While Dany looked around she missed Ser Barristan, and Daario Naharis, she wished they were there to see her, she had finally reached her goal, and yet she felt the worst she had ever felt in her life. She looked down at the people who had helped her get there, she looked down on her own sister, and she would look down on her people, that is why she sat so uneasy on the throne, that is why the Iron Throne was so uncomfortable, and Queen Daenerys Targaryen never wanted to look down on her people.
