Chaeyoung's POV

Lunch felt like it went by in a flash since I had my head in the clouds the whole time. All the happenings in the courtroom this morning left me overwhelmed. Even though Caleb ended up getting punished for all the crimes he did, I could not help but feel drained after reliving all his stalking. I felt vulnerable even when I was simply rehashing the past events.

And I was more than glad that Jungkook was by my side.

"Hey!" Jungkook called while placing his arm around my shoulders.

The two of us went for a walk in the park after taking our lunch. And he just came back after buying us water. He gave me one after opening its cap for me and I immediately thanked him for it.

"Are you alright?" He asked while looking at me thoughtfully.

I only nodded in response as I was still drinking the water he gave me.

"Good for you. But I'm not." He sternly said, looking at me with a grave look on his face.

"Huh, why?"

"You really have to ask?" He asked with a slight irritation in his voice, not happy about my cluelessness.

I faked a smile as I asked, "Give me a hint?"

"Let's have that talk later." He answered while standing up quickly and pulling me up right after. "For now, I need to cool my head off."

I was unable to answer when Jungkook already dragged me away.

... ... ... ... ...

I was surprised when we ended up in a gymnasium after we dropped by our apartments to change into more comfortable clothes. But my surprise was not because Jungkook wanted to spend time in the gym to cool his head off. I had been made aware since our college days that he spent a lot of time in the gym. Rather, my eyes grew wide when I realized that he came to the gym to practice Hapkido and not his usual exercise.

And I never hated his confident smirk until he showed up in front of me while wearing his uniform with a black belt securely wrapped around his waist. He always looked handsome in my eyes so I did not think what he was wearing actually mattered, until today. His confidence was blinding when he came to see me after getting changed into his uniform.

"No need to me give that look, Park. I already knew I'd take your breath away." He smugly said.

I rolled my eyes at him. He was telling the truth so there was no way I could refute. Plus, my blushing probably gave me away. So I had no chance denying it when I could feel how warm my cheeks had become. I only managed to avoid meeting his gaze and gulped a lump in my throat before shooing him away.

He laughed teasingly while walking towards his coach.

Then Jungkook literally took my breath away a couple of minutes after.

As he went into a sparring with his coach, he effectively captured all of my attention with his strength and precise movements. He knew too well when to attack effectively and how to defend himself from getting hit. Though I got distracted when a man in a fried-chicken-print tracksuit passed in front of me. The man's outfit was an eyesore that I failed to see when Jungkook's coach finished him with a low spinning heel kick. I screamed in surprise the instant I saw him fell down and immediately rushed to his side.

"Are you okay?" I asked in panic and worry.

"Yeah, I'm fine. You don't need to worry. I'm strong enough to take that fall." He answered while getting up on his feet.

"But not that strong to win." I said without thinking, unknowingly annoying Jungkook with my side remark.

He scoffed at me before asking his coach for another round. Then he quickly turned to speak to me before they began the next round.
