That stupid alarm...
He would break it if he knew how.
Kody sighed, looking blankly at his window. He had less than ten minutes to leave the house and meet up with Lumine to walk to school.
If he got dressed in one minute, brushed his teeth in two minutes, brushed his hair in one, and grabbed breakfast on his way out the door...
Yeah, he could sleep for a bit longer.
Kody rolled over.

"Good morning Kody!"
Kody heard the familiar greeting as he shut his door behind him. He tiredly waved back at Lumine, his arms feeling ten times heavier than usual.
Lumine paused, smiling at him with a concerned expression. "You know, you should really try to get more sleep..."
"You want me to skip school?"
"Wha- no! I mean, you should go to bed earlier..." Lumine stammered.
"Yeah, I know. I was kidding. I have no idea how you fall asleep at eight." Kody said.
Lumine smiled. "I dunno, I just kinda... do? I get sleepy, so I go to bed!"
"Must be nice." Kody said in a dead voice.
Lumine suddenly stopped, and turned around. Kody paused, confused.
"Look!" Lumine said, bending down to pick up a leaf.
"...At the leaf?" Kody asked, confused.
"Mhm! It's orange- it's almost Autumn!" Lumine exclaimed, his eyes shining.
"...Cool?"
Lumine sighed. "It's going to be so pretty- I can't wait! And then I'll be able to wear sweaters, and drink hot cocoa, and... and... and other things!"
Kody stared at Lumine. How was he so easily excited?
"Autumn comes every year, dunno what's so special about it."
Lumine happily walked up to Kody, still holding the leaf. "What's not special about it? It's my favorite season!"
Lumine started giddily half-skipping, down the street. Kody stood for a moment, before slowly following him.
Autumn had never been anything special- it just meant that Autumn break would be soon and he'd get a week off of school. The way Lumine spoke about it made it seem- somehow- more exciting.
To Kody- it was just a season. It was just a leaf, it was just another day, another class, another boring, meaningless year.
He wondered how different life could be if he saw things through Lumine's eyes.
"Kodyyy, we're gonna be late to school!" Lumine called from ahead.
"I'm coming, I'm coming..."
For reference as to how long this is story is gonna be...
The story ends early summer, when Lumine leaves. (So, around June)
It's currently barely October for them.
We are 86 chapters in.
