Chapter ONE: Significance

┊ᴋᴀɪ'ꜱ ᴘᴏᴠ┊ೃ⁀➷

"Oh please, not him again. He is such a killjoy."

Hate is a common emotion I face almost every day, and maybe even the only one. I feel no pain, no joy, no hurt-- just resentment. Totally a definition of a killjoy.

"Let him be in his own world, Gyu." Shin Ryujin is your not-so-typical tomboy best friend-- too casual, kind of arrogant and has a superiority complex. She has the tendency to force her opinions onto people, and not care for what the others might have to say. To the world, she is kind, caring, kind of protective and always right. For me, she is an obstacle-- an annoying and nosy little fly.

From what I've known of her in these six months, she is an idol trainee under RS entertainments, so most of the time she is away in practices and dance crew showcases. The other times, she tries to play a spy. And the worst part about her is that she always seems to know something more than others.

"What are you doing?" I look up at her, making sure my face doesn't betray even a single emotion. Did I mention she has telescoped embedded in her eyes?

"Nothing." I lie, closing my phone with a click. "Nothing you should be concerned about." I am as nonchalant as I'll ever be, playing it out flawlessly. After all, it's now a daily thing.

"If I am not wrong, I saw my house number upon it." She half sits on the desk in front of me, pointing to the screen of my phone. I lean back in my seat, presenting to her with a smirk on my lips.

"Not everything revolves around you, Shin."

She rolls her eyes. "Oh, cut me slack and answer the question, Huening."

I let out a chuckle, crossing my arms. "And who are you to question me, darling?"

"Guys?"

My gaze travels up to meet a pair of familiar brown irises, partly shadowed with a curtain of jet-black bangs. I force myself to display a smile, a genuine one.

"Ah, you are back! Nice thing. Ryujin was missing you so badly."

He smiles, clicking his tongue and turning to look at Shin with a raise of his brow. "That's pleasant to know, Ryu." The girl changes her demeanour as well, shifting to her 'angel' self, as I like to call it. She'd surely be a great actress for those cheesy dramas.

"We surely were waiting for you. We are already twelve minutes late for the movie."

"I almost forgot about that..."

"You have a weak memory. It's not every day for us to be graced with Huening's treat."

I admire her skills of playing out a lie with all of herself, even better than I'll ever be. I am pretty sure she doesn't like me in the slightest, yet here she is, acting as if we are buddies of old.

The thing about me is that if I hate someone, I would never put up a show of anything for that person but just that, but hate. Hate is a big thing for me, maybe not for others.

And, if it is not obvious already, 𝐈 𝐡𝐚𝐭𝐞 𝐒𝐡𝐢𝐧 𝐑𝐲𝐮𝐣𝐢𝐧.
