Who Are You?

Chapter 36

Liam's POV

Maddie, Mallori, Niall, Madison, Harry and I all sit in a big circle on the floor. We had a lovely dinner and we talked for a while, getting to know each other pretty well. They're all really nice people. And Maddie looks really happy, which makes me smile.

"So what should we do now?" Mallori says, turning and laying on her tummy.

"Well, we could always ask Maddie and Liam tons of questions about them, since we don't know them as well as we know each other!" Harry suggests.

Maddie blushes and says, "Well, you can ask us anything you want if you'd like, we'll definitely answer!"

The four of them think for a moment. I rest my hand on Maddie's in an effort of comfort, in case she's feeling uneasy. In turn, she looks at me and gives me a small nod, proving to me that she feels comfortable in this situation.

I'm so proud of her. In the last few hours, I've seen Maddie grow closer to these people without any hesitation. I'm so glad she's enjoying herself.

I plant a little kiss on her temple to convey these emotions and pull her into my lap.

"Alright, well, do you guys have any siblings?" Niall asks us.

"I have a younger sister named Leah," Maddie says smiling, "She's 12 and she's really sweet."

"Awe that's cute! What about you Liam?" He asks.

"I don't have any biological sisters, but my mom has a friend named Kim and her daughter Sarah is like a sister to me! She's really sweet and she's 15, so I like to try my best to give her brotherly advice. Plus I'd beat up anyone that messed with her, so yeah that's the closest to a sister that I have," I explain.

Maddie turns to look at me, "Well that's really sweet! How come I didn't know that, huh punk?" She giggles and pokes my tummy.

I shrug, "Well, it didn't really come up. I haven't seen Sarah for a month though, I'll tell you the next time she's in town and you can meet her," I say kissing her softly.

"That sounds lovely! You can meet Leah soon enough as well," she says turning back to the group.

"Alright, well how did you guys meet?" Madison asks.

I smile wide, I can't help but smile when I think of how lucky I am to have met Maddie. She's the newfound light of my life.

"We met at school! I had this huge crush on her, and she never knew. I've liked her since the fifth grade, but I could never work up the guts to tell her. But I finally did, and I ended up falling in love," I say, kissing her softly.

She blushes and smiles, "Well if I had ever known that you liked me, I would've dated you sooner!"

"YOU GUYS ARE SO CUTE PLEASE STOP SOMETIMES YOU'RE REALLY CUTE AND THEN SOMETIMES YOU'RE MAKING OUT ON THE BALCONY OF MY WORKPLACE AND I CAN'T HANDLE IT IT'S TOO ADORABLE I'M GONNA CRY," Mallori shouts, burying her face into Niall's chest.

Niall laughs loudly and strokes her hair, "Shh it's ok love."

He then turns to us and whispers, "She does this a lot, I think it's pretty adorable."

Madison then shoves her face down towards Mallori's and whispers, "Prunes."

This causes Mallori to erupt into a fit of laughter, and soon enough Maddie joins in. Us three guys just kind of look at each other, wondering what the heck is going on.

"Prunes?" I mouth to Niall. He shrugs and looks at Harry, is if to ask if he knows what's happening. He shakes his head in return, and we sit there in confusion.

Even though I'm confused, it's really nice to see my beautiful girl laugh like this. Her eyes light up and she tilts her head back happily. Her melodic laughter seeps out of her, along with the aura of happiness. It's truly a marvelous sight.

Soon enough, Niall, Harry and I join in too. Something about watching the girls laugh is contagious. So contagious that something about the word prunes becomes absolutely hilarious. By the way we were laughing at the word prunes, you would've thought that we had never heard a real joke before.

We spent a good five minutes just laughing uncontrollably. As the laughter died down, Mallori started to explain that prunes is what Mary Kate and Ashley would say on the red carpet to get their pout to look good on camera.

Maddie then pulls out her phone, positions it so that all three girls are in the picture, and on cue, they all whisper "Prunes," causing them to erupt into another laughing fit.

I scooted next to Niall and whispered, "Our girls are so beautiful."

He nodded, "They really are, we're so lucky."

I fist bumped him and then scooted back over to Maddie as their laughter died down.

"Well now that we've lost all control for over ten minutes, what should we do?" Maddie asks.

"Well, we could always just make out," I say, jokingly but at the same time, hoping she'll agree.

She shrugs, "I'm in!"

She leans in and presses our lips together, lighting an unquenchable fire.

"Wow, um that's porn," Mallori says. Maddie laughs and pulls away.

"Fine, fine! Who all can sing here? Because we could sing a song!" She suggests.

"I can play the piano for us!" I say running upstairs and grabbing my keyboard from under my bed. As I return to the living room, I hear a conversation that causes me to freeze in place.

"I'm not sure yet," Maddie says, "We just started yesterday, it'll probably be over by the end of the week given my history."

Immediately, a thousand thoughts run through my head. Does she not want to be with me? Is this not what she expected when I asked her to be mine? Am I a bad boyfriend?

My heart sinks in my chest at the mere thought of yes being the answer to any of those questions. I can't lose her.

I love her.

Also, just curious, how many of you sang No Control at the part that said "we lost all control for ten minutes" bc I did
