Maddie's POV

I sit alone on the wet swing. Somewhere on my way to Liam's house, I lost confidence and sat here.

Why would he want to talk to me anyways?

As I sit on this wet swing set, I realize what I really am. I'm an average girl who is completely, undeniably, and painfully boring.

Someone as amazing, talented, kind, and extraordinary as Liam would never even begin to love me.

What am I even saying? We're in high school! What I feel for Liam definitely isn't love! It can't be! I don't even know what love is, I'm too young.

I jump when I feel a hand on my shoulder.

I turn around to see the beautiful boy with curly hair and glasses that I've started to favor over the edgy football jock.

"Maddie, I'm so sorry I yelled at you. I have a bad temper and, if you're willing to forgive me, I've got something I wanna show you," he says, sitting next to me.

"Liam, it's ok, I shouldn't have pushed you-" I begin.

He cuts me off by starting to sing a beautiful song.

"Counted all my mistakes and there's only one, standing out from the list of the things I've done, all the rest of my crimes don't come close, to the look on your face when I let you go, so I built you a house from a broken home, and I wrote you a song with the words you spoke, yeah it took me some time but I figured out, how to fix up a heart that I let down," he sings.

As he finishes the beautiful song, I let my heart control my actions instead of my head controlling my heart, and I lean in to kiss him.

"Liam, that was so beautiful. Did you write that?" I ask in amazement.

He nods shyly.

"I wrote it about a year ago, but I didn't know who it was about. I knew it was about someone, I just didn't know who. But now I know that it's about you," he says breathlessly.

"You're so good with words. It flows beautifully, and your voice is so gorgeous. I love it," I say.

He hands me a CD.

"I recorded it for you," he says fidgeting with the case.

"Thank you, it's great. I'll make sure to listen to it every single day, but for now I think I should get going, Bo will be wondering where I am," I say.

He nods and hugs me.

"Please come over tomorrow, please," he says softly.

"I will, I promise. I'll see you tomorrow," I say waving as I start towards my home.
