Liam's POV

I didn't even know what I was doing! I'd never sing like that in front of anyone! It just kind of happened!

I was so ashamed.

"Liam! Why did you not tell me you could sing?!" Maddie says in disbelief.

"Because I can't! It's just a hobby..besides, I can't sing while mum and dad are home unless my door is like triple locked. Dad doesn't support the arts, just sports," I say scratching my neck and trying to hold in the tears.

Of course it hurt, dad didn't even know I wanted to be a musician, not a sports star. It's all I've ever wanted actually. I grew up watching legendary artists perform and thinking, "Wow I hope that's me one day."

But it'll never be me. Because I can't sing.

To avoid more talk about me, I flip the subject to be about her.

"Why didn't you tell me you could sing? Your voice is beautiful!" I say, smiling.

"Well, I don't sing much, just to myself. I'm shy," she says blushing, "But you can sing, Liam. Your falsetto is beautiful, and your chest voice matches."

"Well thanks, but my father won't accept that," I whisper.

"What do you mean? Your father doesn't have to accept it! Your voice is beautiful and if he disagrees he can-"

"Maddie, please, I can't talk about this anymore," I try to stop her.

"Liam, you can't always live according to the wishes of your father!" she says, raising her voice.

"Maddie, please," I whisper.

"You have to stand up to him! You have to, or else your life will be miserable!" She screams.

"I CAN'T! I JUST CAN'T ALRIGHT?!" I shout back, letting the tears fall.

"Look, Maddie, I think you need to go. I'll see you sometime later, bye," I rush and hurry her out the door.

'I think you need to go' is translation for 'I think I'm about to lose it and I don't want you to see'.

I couldn't let her see me at my worst.

But then again, she's already seen me in my football uniform.

{SO MAYBE LIAM'S A LITTLE BROKEN AND CAN'T FIGURE OUT WHAT HE REALLY WANTS AND YEAH HE MAY BE PUSHING MADDIE AWAY TO SPARE HER FROM HIMSELF BUT I DUNNO WHAT DO I KNOW
