Giggles sounded throughout the house because it was one of those rare times where Jacob was gone for the whole day

Katrina had told Lydia that she could have the pogues over and they were currently running through the house playing tag

"Lydia" Katrina called causing the 4 friends to freeze, "You know tag is only played outside"

"Sorry mom! Let's go guys!" Lydia called, racing out the front door

Her mother watched as the pogues decided to climb the oak tree in their front yard. The boys definitely had to boost Lydia up onto the first branch because she wasn't tall enough to reach it. These were Katrina's favorite moments, the ones where Lydia can be a true kid. She was grateful that Lydia had found such good friends and little did she know how important they would become later on in both of their lives

"So what happened after you drove into the storm?" Pope asked, starting the conversation they all were eager to have

"Well we capsized and somehow managed to hold onto the boat long enough until Dan spotted us. We asked him to drop us off at the next port, when he told us that their final destination was the Bahamas" John B began

"We knew we had to go look for the gold or at least try. And when we got here we kinda slummed it for a few days and actually Trina caught us going through the dumpster for food" Sarah laughed

"So she offered us a place to stay, and now she knows some of what happened back home. Like she knows there's an issue between us and Ward, who she knows by the way. He loves this restaurant" John B finished

Kie, Pope and JJ shared confused looks, Lydia being off somewhere in her head, completely zoned out of the conversation. JJ frowned, giving her hand a little squeeze but if she noticed it, she definitely didn't react.

"Tell us about home. We miss it" Sarah said sadly

"Um after you left, we thought you were dead, obviously. We kinda fell apart for a bit. But we came back together so that's all that matters" JJ tried to skim over Lydia's breakdown

"What brought you back together?" John B pushed, after knowing his friends for as long as he did, he knew they wouldn't just come back together without a reason

Once again, Kie, Pope and JJ shared looks, wondering if they should tell John B and Sarah. JJ looked again at Lydia, still as oblivious as ever. He made a mental note to check in on her after this.

"Guys what?" Sarah asked

"Just tell them JJ. She would've told them eventually" Kie nodded

"I mean like I said, things got really dark after we thought you died" JJ rubbed his neck, still avoiding the question

"Lyds? What happened after we left?" John B decided to try her, seeing as he wasn't getting an answer out of the three

"Sorry what?" Lydia turned her head, finally looking at the rest of the group

"They won't tell us what brought you guys back together after we left. Pogue rules still apply, even on a different island" John B explained

"Oh" Lydia nodded, "I just tried to, uh, end it" Lydia played with her hands, until JJ placed his on top of hers and kissed her temple

"I'm sorry, what?" Sarah's jaw dropped

"It's really not a big deal anymore. It was a year ago and now we're together so it's fine" Lydia rambled

The group took that as a way to continue to move the conversation along, "So you think you found the gold?" Pope asked the two

"Okay. So, we haven't actually seen it" John B cringed slightly

"You what? I thought you had a whole plan and everything" Kie wondered

"Look, at the airport, there's a shed/garage thingy. And it's heavily guarded. I also know for a fact that it's a Cameron property because my dad always pointed it out when we landed for vacations" Sarah finished

"Don't you guys have a house here? Could it all be there?" JJ asked Sarah

"Yeah we have a house but I think Ward is too paranoid for that. Our house is nice, but it's not Tannyhill. The house here never had full security because we never kept anything here" Sarah explained

*******

After having a nice meal, filled with catching up and reminiscing, the pogues were currently on their way to where John B and Sarah were staying

"Have I expressed how bad of an idea I think this is?" JJ whispered to JB

"Yes. Many times. But now that I know what went down, I'm almost in agreement with you buddy" John B replied

"So what do we do?" JJ asked John B

"I mean, you tell me. What do you think?" John B honestly didn't know how they were gonna handle this

"It's either tell her right before we go in, or let her find out. Plus we still don't know for sure that it's actually Katrina Sherman" JJ reasoned

"Well we're here so it looks like we're going with the second option" John B pulled up alongside a long dock that led to a big yard with an even bigger house. (A/N think Kook sized big)

JJ absentmindedly held Lydia close as soon as they stepped off that boat and onto the dock

"You good?" He whispered into her ear

"Yeah, just getting some weird flashbacks, that's all" Lydia smiled up at him, stealing a quick kiss

When they entered the house, John B and Sarah called out, letting Trina know they were home. A middle aged woman bounded around the corner, a flowery scent following her. It was that perfume that made Lydia certain of the identity of the woman standing in front of her

"Are you fucking kidding me?" She exclaimed

"Lydia, it's so good to see you" Katrina went to give her a hug before Lydia roughly stepped away

"No, absolutely not. What the actual fuck? Like is no one else here bothered by the fact that this bitch faked her death?" Lydia's voice was beginning to get louder and louder

The pogues just had to stand and watch, they knew that there was no getting in between Lydia and her mother, not after everything that happened

"Young lady, you may be upset with me but I am still your mother-" Katrina scolded

"MY MOTHER? Excuse me? You lost that title the minute you faked your death and left me with that deadbeat excuse of a father. You knew, you knew how abusive and horrible he was and you fucking left me there with him. You wanna see the scars? Oh guys which ones should I show her first? The cigarette burns are pretty gnarly, maybe that'll show her" She ranted stepping towards her mother

"You don't understand, I had to get away from him" Katrina stuttered

"You had to get away from him? How dare you?" Lydia shoved Katrina, prompting JJ to wrap his arms around the girl and pull her into him

"If you would just let me explain" Katrina smoothed out the wrinkles in her dress

"No reason you could ever come up with would make this okay. As far as I'm concerned, you're still dead" Lydia spat, before breaking out of JJ's grip and began to walk back towards the door

"Mom? I heard yelling? Is everything okay?" A voice called from around the corner

A girl, their age stepped out, and it was the last person that both Lydia and JJ expected to see
