Lydia awoke the next morning to a single sliver of light, shining on her face through the crack in the curtains. She groaned while standing up and stretching. She shuffled her way out of the guest bedroom and was met with the wonderful smell of coffee. She silently thanked John B in her head and grabbed a mug. Right next to the machine was a note:

Had a meeting with DCS

Be back later

Don't kill each other

-JB

She scoffed at the fact that John B had little faith in Lydia and JJ. She glanced over, the blonde boy sleeping peacefully on the pull out. She felt a small smile make its way to her face. She liked the mornings when she could be alone. It was one of the few times she let her guard down (but even then it was only slightly). She made her way out onto the dock, dropping her feet in the cool marsh water. On the horizon she could see storm clouds slowly creeping towards them.

Shortly after JJ joined her on the dock. "Morning" he said sitting next to her. "Morning" She said softly. "Listen Lyds, about last night-" He tried to begin but was quickly cut off by John B pulling up in the van. "Alright let's do some storm prep and then surfing? I know you two can't resist a good surge" He said to his friends. The two on the dock shared a look and made their way towards John B to help him out.

About an hour later the three found themselves on the beach.

"Those aren't surfable waves bro" JJ said, trying to convince his friends not to go out. Lydia looked at the boy in shock "Since when are you afraid of a little storm?" John B and JJ shared a look and with that, they headed into the water. They spent most of their time in the water trying to fight the current. They had each caught a few good waves but overall, it was kinda a disappointing trip. As they were about to head back to the beach they saw a boat

"What the hell?" John B said, wondering who would be stupid enough to take a boat out in the middle of a hurricane

"Come on JB" Lydia called, already having paddled away with JJ

By the time they had gotten back to the chateau, they were exhausted and promptly slept through the infamous Hurricane Agatha

John B woke up to the sun in his eyes and drops of water coming from the ceiling. He groaned, checking his phone "No service? And No power? Great". He stumbled out of bed, getting ready to assess the damage. He smiled seeing his friends holding each other, legs tangled, on the pullout where he left them the night before. The boy couldn't understand why the two wouldn't admit their feelings for each other. He was in the unique position of being both of their best friends, so he knew they both liked each other. He pushed JJs leg and ruffled Lydia's hair "Yo, you guys been outside?" He asked

"I have polio, bro. I can't walk" JJ mumbled, refusing to open his eyes

Lydia just swatted John B's hand away. He yawned and left them inside, knowing eventually that they'd join him

"Oh, man. That is not good" John B said, noticing the tree in his front yard had been uprooted. They loved to climb that tree as kids. JJ even fell out of it once. Aside from the tree and a few branches in the HMS Pogue, they were pretty lucky

"Agatha did some work, huh?" JJ said leaning against the doorframe with the brunette girl standing in front of him. She was still holding the blanket around her shoulders. "Hell yeah she did" Lydia mumbled moving to help John B clear off the boat

"Whatcha' thinkin'?" JJ asked the boy

"I'm thinkin' that the storm surge pushed all the crabs out on the marsh. All those drum are gonna chase the crab"
