Their hopes of collecting a finders fee were soon ruined. When they had tried to talk to the coast guard, he yelled at them and went back to dealing with some kook's diabetic dog.

"Well that went well" JJ sighed, rolling his eyes

"So what now?" Lydia asked

"I know how we're gonna find the guy that owns the boat" John B smirked

"We don't know whose room that is. It could be anyone." pleaded Pope, trying to talk his friends out of doing something that would undoubtedly be dangerous, illegal or both. Much to his dismay, he was outvoted and the group got back onto the boat and headed towards the motel. Lydia frowned as they pulled up to the Summer Winds motel, which looked like it could collapse at any second

"I thought the chateau looked bad" she scoffed

"Motel or meth lab?" Kie added

"You be the judge" Pope nervously replied

"Doesn't look like a place somebody with a Grady White stays" John B said, getting ready to help JJ dock the boat

"No. Looks like a place someone with a Grady White would get killed" Lydia said, moving her sunglasses from her face to her head.

"All right. Here we go. This is your captain speaking. HMS Pogue comin' in for landing" JJ spoke into his fake walkie talking while maneuvering the boat close to the shore

"Well here goes nothing" John B sighed, grabbing the motel key. JJ got off the boat second and turned around to help Lydia onto shore, knowing that she loved any reason to go on an adventure. She put her arm around his shoulder and he took this opportunity to scoop the girl up bridal style, spinning around once before putting her down. She elbowed him in the side "You are so obnoxious" she said, pretending to be mad. She secretly loved the way they flirted and wished it was real

"Hey" Pope addressed John B "Don't let them do anything stupid"

JJ and Lydia laughed, "Oh we will"

"I'm not making any promises" John B replied to Pope

"Uh, be careful. I mean it" Kie said, giving John B one final look

The remaining four shared a look and Lydia made a mental note to ask Kie about that later. As they made their way up to the second floor, Lydia couldn't help but notice all the mattresses leaning against the walls "Why are all these mattresses out?"

"After the hurricane, they ditch 'em cause they're moldy" JJ answered

The girl walked behind her two best friends and couldn't help but hear their conversation

"Just be so careful, John" JJ said cradling his friends face, mocking him for his interaction with Kie

John B pushed him off "God you're so weird"

"What was that about?" JJ asked

"I don't know. Maybe she wants us to be careful" John B shrugged

"Since she heard you're being threatened with exile, she's just been, like, 'Oh! Be so careful, John B. Oh, give me that John D already' When are you gonna swoop on that, man" JJ asked the boy

"Bro, you know the rule. No pogue-on-pogue macking." John B added "Besides, don't think the little flirting between you and Lydia goes unnoticed"

JJ slapped his chest, shooting the girl behind him a look, relaxing when it seemed like she hadn't heard them. Lydia let a smile make its way on her face once he had turned back around. She quickly dropped it, remembering that no one could ever love her like that after what had happened last summer.
