Pin and I were walking to the beach. We'd just been informed that Holloway was having a party to de stress.
We'd been walking in silence the whole way however and I couldn't help but feel that Pin was mad at me for some unknown reason.
We all followed Gaby down the beach until we turned a corner by some rocks. Right into the group from Bright Fields.
"What are you doing here? This is our part of the beach." Mia protested as Becky, Jade, Susie and Zoe turned to look at us.
"It's a free country. I think we'll stay." Gaby argued.
"Fine. We'll go." Mia decided.
"Wait. Mia, look we've had our differences." Callum called out to the girl. "But if you think about it, we all want the same thing."
"A koala bear for a house pet?!" Becky exclaimed and we all have her odd looks, a smile spreading across my face at my friends familiar antics.
"Said no one ever." She rolled her eyes Cooley, her embarrassment showing only in the light blush across her cheeks.
"Look, you care about horses and so do we." Alex spoke up from in front of me. "We're all competitive and we're all really good." He shrugged.
"So instead of being enemies," Callum continued as Susie walked towards him. "Why can't we just- "
"Be friends?" Susie finished with a hopeful smile towards Mia. "If only for today."
"Brought Marshmallows." Alex offered.
Mia looked at us all for a couple moments before sighing.
"Fine."

Pin, Alex and I were chatting by the bonfire, eating marshmallows from the packet and laughing about some movie that had shown over the weekend. He was still being slightly cold but had an arm wrapped securely round my shoulders. I excused myself, and headed over to where Becky and Jade where sat on a blanket and cushions.
"Hey guys. Can I sit?" I pointed to the cushion next to Becky. The two looked at each other silently before turning back to me.
"Of course." Jade said and grabbed my hand, pulling me to their level.
We talked for ages and as the conversation died down at the emergence of cake from a picnic hamper I turned my attention back to Pin and Alex. Zoe stood a little way away from them, in front of a sand dune.
A wicked smile crept onto my face as I planned to jump out at her while she was unsuspecting.
I began to clamber over the sand dune but stopped when I saw Gaby walk over to Zoe and start talking to her.
"Good job Marcus isn't here." She said and I frowned.
"Excuse me?" Zoe asked.
"Oh come on, that look between you and Pin. You like him."
I gulped nervously, waiting for her response.
"Believe what you want, Gaby."
She hadn't denied it and my heart ached painfully as she strode away.
Surprisingly, Gaby turned to me. She beckoned for me to come down from the top of the dune.
I sighed and slid down the sandy slope.
"See what I mean, Phoebe. A best friend wouldn't go behind your back like this. It's best to just cut her off all together. No distractions."
I sighed, biting the inside of my cheek as I tried to straighten my muddled thoughts.
"I need to clear my head." I sighed, walking away from her intense gaze.
I plonked down beside Becky and Jade and moments later Alex and Fin joined me, three marshmallows stuffed into each of their mouths and they were trying to have a conversation.
They introduced themselves to Becky and Jade through their mouthfuls and I snorted.
"Have you heard this song before?" I heard Fin ask Becky in his gentle voice. The blonde stuttered awkwardly and finally deciding on shaking her head no.
"It's wicked." He replied, connecting his phone to one of the Bluetooth speakers and a summery pop song began playing.

"Right, it's time to liven things up a bit with a game of spin the bottle." Gaby announced.
"The rules are simple. You spin the bottle, kiss whoever it lands on and move on. Form a circle!"
I sighed and stood up, heading towards the circle. I seated myself next to Gaby.
However, Becky and Jade hadn't followed. Over the wind I had only managed to hear Becky mention something about smuggling.
"Why don't we play something fun, like truth or dare?" I asked as the third couple refused to kiss.
"You haven't had a go yet!" Gaby urged. I sighed and reached down, spinning the empty bottle. It spun once, twice, three times before slowing to a stop. Pointing at Pin.
I looked up at him and he smirked. I walked quickly over to him and pressed a quick kiss to his lips. He then patted the rock next to him for me to sit there.
"Ok then, let's find out all your deep, dark secrets. Truth or dare." Gaby announced.

*. *. *.

"Uh, truth." Mia decided.
"Are firefly's hooves really that clean or do you oil them?" Susie questioned, her boyfriend Callum's arm draper over her shoulder.
Mia scoffed.
"Ok fine. I oil them. Sue me."
"I knew it. Honestly no one's hooves can be that sparkly." Susie laughed. "Your turn." She told Mia.
"Zoe, truth or dare?"
"Truth. Always." My best friend responded. However I wasn't sure if that label still applied to her anymore. I loved Zoe and she loved me. But she loved Pin, same as me. But she had Marcus.
"Have you ever had feelings for anyone else, even though you're in a relationship already and that would make you an awful person?" She asked. My eyes widened at the oddly specific question.
"No. No. Of course not." Zoe replied quickly. Too quickly.
"Funny, you keep saying that and I keep not believing you." Gaby said from beside me. Zoe looked at me guiltily and I looked away, catching the fact that Pin was also staring intently at Zoe.
"Becky, what's your secret?" Zoe asked, diverting attention to the blonde.
"Truth. No dare. No... truth. Hit me."
"What's your biggest secret?" Zoe asked.
"Well, my biggest secret is about kissing. It's- "
"That you've never kissed anyone before." Jade blurred out. "Right?" Becky looked at her friend, betrayal stinging in her eyes.
"Becky it's your turn." Gaby said trying to divert everyone.
"I don't want to play anymore. It's a stupid game." She crossed her arms sulkily and I couldn't help but feel bad for her.
"Becky's right. It's time to stop." Pin said from my other side.
"Says the guy who's turn it is." Zoe quipped challengingly.
"If Becky won't ask Pin a question, I will." Mia announced.
"Truth or dare?"
"Truth."
"Do you think you're a better rider than everyone at Bright Fields?"
"I'm not going to answer that." Pin replied looking down at his lap.
"So that's a yes." Zoe scoffed.
"I guess Holloway breeds a certain type of arrogance." Mia sighed.
"Mia remember the truce." Susie said hurriedly.
"Which will make it more satisfying when we win at Nationals."
"Oh Pin,still hasn't answered the question." Zoe added, making everything even more chaotic.
"Go on." Callum urged Pin.
"Okay. Yeah. I am a better rider."
"And with both Pin and Phoebe on our team, we can't loose." Gaby announced proudly.
"I disagree." Mia countered. "And I can prove it."
