"I heard about the newbie attacking you! Are you ok?" Chris's arms around me as I enter the classroom.
"I'm fine and he didn't attack me."
"Do you know what he wants?" Marlene joins the conversation.
"No." I lie. I know exactly what he wants.
"Everyone sit down!" I hear the teacher yell and we all take our places. My heart skips a few beats when I see Leighton rush through the door and take a seat next to me. I stiffen and I see Chris, who is on my other side, glare at him. I try not to look at him for the rest of the lesson and keep my eyes on my book or the wall ahead.
"Beatrice." He whispers and I can't ignore him anymore. I finally face him to see his big smile.
"What?" I say almost too harshly.
"Nothing. You're just really cute when you're ignoring me." He chuckles quietly and I turn away from him, annoyed. I quickly glance behind me to see Tobias's hands balled into fists and his muscles tense as he glares at Leighton. Today could not get any worse.

As we take a seat at our table in the cafeteria someone slides in beside me, so close that we touch. I know immeadiatly who it is and look beside me to see Leighton who is in Tobias's spot. He doesn't seem to mind me glaring at him as he noisly crunches on an apple. Tobias doesn't say anything as he sits down and takes a seat opposite me. He looks really angry so I try to ignore both of them. The rest of the table is quiet, too busy looking at Leighton.
"Leighton!" Zeke says surprised as he and Shauna join the table. Leighton stands up and gives Zeke a one armed hug. They know each other?
"Zeke, long time no see bro." He laughs. They look like good friends. What did I miss?
"What you been up to?" Zeke asks and that's all I hear as a hand wraps around my arm and pulls me away from the table. Once we are out of the cafeteria Tobias stops.
"What the hell was that Tris?" He demands furious.
"What the hell was what? Don't blame me if he sits down at our table." I defend myself.
"I hate him. You know that right?"
"You barely know him."
"Why do you keep defending him?" He yells and hits the locker to his right hard so that there is a slight dint in the metal.
"I am not defending him!" I am yelling too now. People stare at us as they pass but I ignore them.
"Damn it Tris!" He growls. I turn away from him and begin to walk back when he grabs my arm.
"Let go of me!" I demand but he only pulls me back.
"What are you not telling me?" He whispers now, his eyes softer than before. For a moment I want to tell him everything.
"If you don't tell me we are over." He says even quieter now. I want to tell him so much. I don't wamt him to leave me. Not when I just got him. But I can't. I'd rather him leave me then hate me. I feel tears begin to run down my cheeks as I look him in the eye.
"I'm sorry." I breathe and he lets go of my arm and walks away.
