Happy Birthday, Baekhyun!

“Oppa! Happy Birthday! I’m sorry I can’t be there today, but I promised my mother to take her to my grandmother’s and you know how far out she lives. I’m really truly sorry. Saranghaeyo, Baeki.” He listened to her making kissing sounds and then let the phone drop for the fifth time that day. She’d left him a voicemail. That was all. It was his birthday and all she had left him was a voicemail. He had hoped that he could at least spend the evening with her but her grandmother lived so far out that he knew that she wouldn’t be back until the next day.

“Hyung, are you ok?” Baekhyun looked up to see Kai in front of him.

“I’m fine.” He shook his head and stood up from the couch. “Let’s go do this radio show.” He left and Kai stared at his back for a few minutes before he too moved. Something was wrong and he had a feeling it was about ________.

Your POV

You felt a bit queasy when you entered the radio’s recording area. You had left your boyfriend, Baekhyun, a voice message to tell him you weren’t going to be there for his birthday; knowing Baekhyun you could only imagine how he felt right now. The guy who had guided you up here, smiled at you and opened a heavy black door. You thanked him and stepped through. The room behind the door was empty, another door leading to the recording studio itself and you started shuffling your feet nervously. Baekhyun didn’t know it yet but SM had finally given you permission to go official. The two of you had been dating for almost a year now and you had received a phone call the other night telling you this plan. You smiled to yourself when the door burst open. Suho and Chen pulled up short when they saw you and you smiled at them. They moved apart so that the other members could see you; they all stared at you with wide eyes, until Baekhyun entered. His face went expressionless before he just grinned and charged, enveloping me in his arms.

“_____ what are you doing here? I thought you had to—“, he started after he’d pecked your lips quickly.

“I know what you thought. It was supposed to be a surprise, but first of all Happy Birthday, oppa. Saranghae.” You smiled at him, he mumbled a thank you and an I love you too, but grew serious again, waiting for you to explain.

“Okay—I have another surprise for you.”

“Oh please don’t tell me you’re pregnant! I can’t deal with Baekhyun’s child just now; could you maybe wait for another few years?” Suho exclaimed and you laughed along with the rest of EXO.

“No—I’m not pregnant. But—SM gave us permission to go official.” You said as calmly as you could. Baekhyun stared at you for a few seconds before a massive grin spread over his face. He grabbed you the waist and lifted you up, twirling around the room; you threw your head back, laughing, and grabbed onto his shoulders to steady yourself.

“Really jagi?” He asked looking at you wide eyed.

“Yes, Baeki, really.” You smiled and quickly kissed him before he had to go into the recording studio, to announce your relationship. You hadn’t been this excited since your first date with him; it was almost as if the two of you started dating all over again from that point on.
