The next day you woke up early as usual -thanks to a little ebony dragon whose stubby tail slapped you right across the face- and dressed in your uniform and met Sarah downstairs.

Sarah came out of the kitchen and smiled warmly upon seeing you. She looked genuinely happy to see you, no doubt remembering the advice you gave her last night.

"Good morning, sleepyhead," she greeted you. You yawned, regretting reading all those books late last night.

"Great. How about you? You look like you're in a good mood."

She said, "I was just thinking about what you said last night. About how Jim will become a better person."

You nodded, though not understanding where this was going.

"And, well, it made me have hope that Jim will get better soon. I mean, he hasn't gotten in trouble for the past few months, and I like to think that's progress."

You smiled. "Wow. That's...that's wonderful, Sarah. I hope he really does make progress. Speaking of which, why does he get in trouble? He does seem like a troublemaker, but...not as far as I've known him"

Sarah's expression faltered and she sighed while rubbing her neck. As if thinking about it stressed her out more. "Oh. He just likes to surf...freely. He gets caught sometimes surfing in restricted areas and destroying things on accident."

You frowned, remembering when you saw Jim arriving home from solar surfing because he skipped school. "Oh. Really? That doesn't seem all that bad. I thought he stole things or mugged people, I don't know."

Sarah sighed. "Oh, trust me. It is. Now follow me. I have a new job for you."

You followed Sarah to the open stove in the corner of the room where a few empty pots lay waiting for something to be added in them. Sarah then taught you some of the most requested meals the customers ordered.

After successfully making your fifth meal, Sarah smiled gratefully.

"My, you're a quick learner. These almost taste better than when I make them. Are you sure you haven't worked at another inn before? Or at least went to culinary school?"

You laughed. "I'm not sure, Sarah. But I thank you. I think I'd much rather be cooking than cleaning."

You finished making a few more meals and set them on low and then finished off with a purp cake. Sarah never taught you the recipe and she didn't even know it. But you knew tje right things to add and their proportions.
