Colton:
I had tried to find the perfect moment to tell Brandon about Savannah and I at school but when I got the chance I would chicken out. Brandon was my best friend. And I didn't want to disappoint him. I know that I've made bad choices before but Savannah was different. As cliche as that sounds. I grew up with this girl. I know all of her quarks. As annoying as some of them may be. I grew up loving her and was never able to express it. Now I have the chance and I'm not going to give it up. I'm drawn out of my thoughts when Savannah walks into the living room. She changed into a pair of leggings and a grey tee shirt. Her hair pulled up in a messy bun. "You look comfy." I say. She smiled sitting down beside me. "Not yet." She replied. She laid her legs on mine. "Now I'm comfy." She grinning. I roll my eyes at her but smile. I rest my hand on her leg and sigh. "I chickened out." I announce referring to Brandon. "Me too." She whispered. We both fall quiet. It shouldn't be this hard. "Where is Brandon?" I ask. "He went with May." She replied. Her eyes focus on the tv. "What are you watching?" She asked. I shrug my shoulders picking up the tv remote. "Some random show." I say. I start to flip through the channels trying to find something to watch. "So, how did telling Brandon go?" Savannah's mother appeared in the living room. She had a briefcase in her hands. "We haven't told him...yet." Savannah admitted. Her mother raised her eyebrows. "Right well. I'm just passing through. I forgot my paperwork. It's going to be a late night at work. I left forty of the fridge for dinner. We'll be back late." She said making her way to the front door. "By the way Brandon should be back shortly." She added then left. Savannah sighed deeply. Her hand found mine as she laced them together. I didn't want to pressure her so I returned my attention on the tv trying to find something to watch. Finally, I found a decent movie. "Can I ask you something?" She asks. I nod my head. She seems hesitant. "Why didn't you try to tell me you liked me when we were younger?" She asks. "Honestly, I tried not to like you." I admit. She scrunches her eyebrows together. "I mean you were this little kid that would mess with your brother and I when we were younger." I say. She sticks her tongue out at me. "But then one day you're mom dressed you up in a little pink dress and pulled your hair back in a braid. I couldn't help but notice that you were a little cute." I stand up walking towards her. "And as we got older I started to like you more and more but I couldn't say anything. I didn't want to ruin my relationship with your brother. Until you dated Seth Meek. That was the first time you hurt me." I whisper. She looks at me sympathetically. "After that I tired not to notice you. But the more I tried to ignore you the harder it seemed to stop. So I tried to drown you out the only way I knew how." I say. She shakes her head. "By dating other people." She mumbled. "I had to try even harder when you began to date Mason. You seemed happy. It felt like I had lost my chance." I say. She grabs my hand pulling me closer to her. "But I'm here now." She whispered. I smile leaning down to kiss her. Her face was inches from mine. I grab the side of her face pulling her lips to mine. She wrapped her arms around my neck holding me closer. Her fingers lacing through my hair like they normally did when we kissed. I couldn't help but smile. She pulled back and looked at me. "What?" She whispered. "Nothing. You're cute." I replied. She rolls her eyes but kisses me again. I groan when I'm pulled back roughly by my shoulder. I look up to find Brandon standing in front of us. "What the hell?" He demanded. "Brandon, listen-" Savannah said climbing to her feet. Brandon backed away from her. I stood up behind her.
"No! I don't want to hear it. You lied to me, Savannah. Why him? Huh? Why Colton? Out of everyone else you chose him." He yelled at her. "I love him." She whispered. The room goes silent for a moment. "You! You're supposed to be my best friend!" Brandon yelled stepping closer but Savannah stayed in between the both of us. "I am your friend but I can't help the way I feel." I say. Brandon glares at me. "Savannah move."
"No, this isn't necessary." Savannah said. Brandon looked at her. "No what isn't necessary is for me to come home and find my best friend making out with my little sister! She's my baby sister!" Brandon yells. "She's not a baby anymore." I remark. Brandon rolls his eyes pushing Savannah out of the way. I don't get a chance to catch her when Brandon tackles me. I groan as we both fall. He grumbles when I punch him but he quickly throws one back. His fist connecting with my jaw. "Stop! She's bleeding!" May's voice was sharp and demanding. I shove Brandon off of me walking towards Savannah. Sure enough she had blood dripping from her eyebrow.. "Are you okay?" I ask. She was crying. "I feel like I'm going to throw up." She admits in a raspy voice. "Get away from her." Brandon demands. "Brandon, enough. We need to take her to the hospital." May cuts in. She walks towards him rests her hands on his shoulders. I couldn't hear what she was saying to him anymore but he seemed to calm down. His eyes soften when he sees Savannah. "Savannah," He pleads but she shakes her head. "I don't feel good." She whispers grabbing onto my arm. May looks at Savannah once more then leaves. I wrap my arms around her helping her to her feet. "Come on. We'll go to the doctors." I say softly. She nods holding onto me. Brandon doesn't say anything as we all pile into the car. I sat in the back with her. "Are you okay?" She whispers quietly. Her voice was the only one filling the cars silence. Her cheek was red and blotchy. She gently cupped my face in her hands. "I'm sorry. I'm so sorry." She whispers repeatedly. "Hey, it's okay." I reply. She shakes her head. I wipe the remaining tears away from her cheeks.
