Red String of Fate

Shizuo's POV

I've heard that if someone has a near death experience or focuses enough on it they can see the red string of fate. So why not try a few times just for the hell of it, nothing bad is going to happen, right?

I think of all the things I've heard about the string and think of where it is on me. It's on my ankle, oh wait no, it's on my pinky. The ankle is the Chinese legend.

After awhile I start to see a thin red string that starts from my right pinky and extends what looks like miles. I start to follow the string and notice that people are looking at me weird.

Then I realize it's weird that someone is looking so fixated at the ground, so I take out my phone and turn it on making it look like I'm just looking at something on it.

I keep my eyes on the string then notice that it turned a darker red. I watch it for a little while longer and see that it's flickering from the dark red to black.

I start to quickly follow the string by running to wherever it's leading me. I see that it turns toward an alleyway so I go up to it. For some reason I get this feeling that I'm close to the person the string is tied to.

When I turn the corner I see a person badly beaten lying on the ground. I go up to them seeing the string tied to their pinky is doing the same thing. I look where it travels and see it ends where my hand is.

I turn the person over and am shocked at who I see, Izaya. I didn't even recognize him I then look around and see his usual fur trimmed jacket lying on the ground a few feet away.

I go get it then cover Izaya with his jacket and gently pick him up. He needs to get medical attention quickly, a hospital is too much of a hassle also I believe that Shinra's is closer, so it would be smart to go there.

I start to go to Shinra's apartment keeping Izaya close and hoping that he'll be okay.

Izaya's POV

I don't exactly remember what happened but I know that all I was doing was walking around Ikebukuro. That's it, nothing bad just walking and I get jumped by a group of guys that say they're a new gang.

And the thing is, is that they don't even have a name, what's with that?! But I'm getting off topic, they pretty much just wanted to beat up someone for fun.

I guess they must've got information about me before they did anything because the first thing they did was pull off my jacket with all my knives. Okay, maybe I shouldn't be so dependent on the knives.

But I can't do anything now, just lie here on the cold ground losing a little of my conscious every passing second.

Shizuo's POV

I took Izaya to Shinra's and now I'm sitting beside him holding on to the hand that has the string. I can't believe we're connected, but maybe I knew that I have feelings for him and really didn't want to accept it.

I hear a small moan from Izaya and see him start to wake up. He rubs his eyes with the hand I'm not holding then looks down where I have his hand.

Then I hear him mumble, "Is this a dream?"

"It's not Izaya I'm here with you." I answer him and smile.

He looks up at me then starts blushing like crazy, it's really cute.

Izaya's POV

I wake up slowly and go to rub my eyes, but for some reason I can only lift my left arm. My right feels like it's being held by something so I look straight toward my right arm.

When I see a very familiar hand holding mine I whisper to myself, "Is this a dream?"

Then I hear a response and quickly look up and start blushing. Crap! Why does he have to be here and holding my hand, my hand! I mean I've had a small crush on him for awhile, but I can't believe he's holding my hand willingly.

"Hey Izaya," Shizu-chan starts speaking getting my attention, "so um... when you get cleared to leave by Shinra do you want to go out somewhere?"

I start to blush even more and so does Shizu-chan. After awhile of blushing I smile and nod at him. I'm so happy now I go to hug him but get a shot of pain through my body.

Shizu-chan helps me lay carefully back down on the bed and I notice a red string attached to both of our pinkies. I watch it for sometime and see that it gets longer or shorter depending on the distance of Shizu-chan's and my hand. So, is what I see the red string of fate?

*three months later*

After getting cleared by Shinra, Shizu-chan and I started dating. It's been great, I've never been happier in my whole life. I love being with Shizu-chan and he's one of the best boyfriends ever.

I go into Shizu-chan's apartment with him and we just snuggle on the bed. Nothing like having sex or anything like that, just cuddling. And after all this time I can still see the red string of fate that connects me with my soulmate Shizuo Heiwajima.
