Abby's POV

I heard the doorbell ring and my heart literally skipped a beat as I gasped and jumped on my bed.

“Abby!” mom yelled, probably leaning against the door frame and giving a polite smile to the person on the other side of the door.

“Yeah?” I yelled back, feeling my dumb heart’s pace quicken.

“Erica and Ashley are here to see you!” she exclaimed.

My shoulders sank and I glanced at the clock. It was only six and I was already ready and eagerly waiting for Michael.

“Send them up!” I responded.

After a minute, Ashley walked into my room followed by Erica. I smiled at them.

“Please tell me you’re not wearing that on the date,” Ash said, sitting down and gesturing towards my clothes. I look down at myself. What’s wrong with my clothing? I was wearing denim shorts over a pair of semi sheer black tights and a cute, sparkly baby blue sweater with white snowflakes imprinted on it.

“Well, you dressed me up so much for my date with-” she stopped mid-sentence as if she was recalling something.

“Jared,” Erica finished softly.

“Wear a pretty dress!” Ash said, ignoring Erica.

“You want me to wear a dress?” I asked, raising my eyebrows. “It’s freezing!”

“She looks good,” Erica said, rolling her eyes.

“Fine,” Ash said, fiddling with her phone.

Before I knew it, it was six thirty and I kept glancing at my phone in hopes of a text or a phone call from Michael saying that he was here.

“Someone’s getting desperate,” Erica said with a cough.

“Totally,” Ash agreed, giving Erica a grin.

I rolled my eyes. “I have every right to be eager. I’ve liked this guy for god knows how long.”

“Oooo,” Erica and Ash cooed together.

At that precise moment, the doorbell rang. Ash started laughing as I jumped off my bed and ran downstairs.

“I’ve got it,” I told dad, who was about to get up to head towards the door.

I opened the door, panting and saw Michael standing in front of me dressed in black jeans and a really cute grey shirt and black leather jacket. I felt myself smile; I always loved the simplicity Michael carried with him.

“Hi,” he said, breaking the silence.

“Hey,” I said with a bright smile.

He handed me yellow roses with red tips. “Beautiful flowers for a beautiful girl.”

I blushed and thanked him. Roses have always been my favourite flowers and I knew the exact meaning of the roses he gave me. Yellow roses with red tips mean ‘falling in love.’

“Abby? Who is it?” mom asked, nearing me.

“Uh-It’s Michael,” I said as Ash and Erica came down.

“Michael!” Ash exclaimed.

“Hey Ash,” he mumbled, giving her a closed-mouth smile.

“Ah, Michael,” dad said, interrupting us.

I groaned inwardly. Perfect timing. Everyone just had to barge in.

“We’re going to go back home now,” Erica said, leaving the room after saying bye to my mom and dad.
