Chapter Thirty-Five:

**Selena's POV:**

Cody just stared at me like he was afraid I was gonna disappear. He was smiling and still had tears running down his face. I reached up with my hand and stroked his cheek. "It's okay." I said unsure of why he was crying. "God I've missed you baby girl." He finally spoke covering my hand with his holding it to his face. Missed me? I'm right here how could he miss me? That's when I looked away from his face and took a look around the room I was laying in. It definitely wasn't my bedroom or any other room I had been in before. Then I looked down at myself. What I saw shocked me and I looked back at Cody.  

"Cody what's going on? What happened?" I asked confused. He looked conflicted. Like he was afraid to tell me. "Cody please just tell me what's going on." I begged needing to know what the hell was going on. "Selena I really don't know what happened. There was some sort of accident." "Accident? Like car accident?" I asked trying to push myself into a sitting up position. Pain shoot through my body and forced me to lay back down again. "You need to be careful you have some broken bones and stitches." Cody said helping me get comfortable again. "Cody please just tell me what happened." I begged. "I'm gonna get the doctor and your mother. We'll talk about this later okay?" he asked trying to stand up. "No!" I cried grabbing his hand and pulling him to a stop. I wanted to know now. He sighed and nodded sitting back down.  

"Okay but you need to stay calm okay? Stress can't be good for you right now." I nodded. "Just tell me please." "Baby girl you were attacked at your house Sunday." As soon as those words left his mouth everything started to come back. Chad, the fight and beating, everything. It all came back and hit me like a ton of bricks. I started sobbing and he held my hand rubbing it soothingly trying to help calm me down. "Baby girl please you need to calm down." he pleaded, but I couldn't. It was all coming back faster then ever. "Cody I can't..." I trailed off unable to speak. He leaned over and kissed me lightly calming me down instantly. "Listen I'm gonna go get your mom and David along with the doctor. I'll be right back I promise okay?" I nodded weakly and he kissed me one more time before leaving the room.  

Once he left I looked down at myself. I was wearing a white hospital gown and was covered with a blue blanket and a sheet. My leg was in a cast propped up above the blankets. My whole body ached like I hadn't moved in days. Before I had a chance to do anything else my mother rushed through the door followed by Cody, David, and another man I assumed was my doctor. My mother was sobbing before she even got close enough to touch me. "Oh god my baby!" she gushed leaning over to kiss my forehead and hug me lightly. "Hey mom." I replied unsure of what else to say. Everything was so unreal and I couldn't help but wish I was dreaming.

**Cody's POV:**

When I left Selena's room to go get her parents and the doctor I couldn't help but feel bad. Happy that she was awake but bad that just by the look on her face I could tell she remembered what happened. Seeing her sob like that broke my heart. I should have been there to protect her. I put a smile on my face and walked back into the waiting room to get Carmen and David. Carmen sat up and looked at me. "Cody what is it?" she asked. "She's awake!" I said happily. They both jumped up and looked at me. "She's awake? Like really awake?" Carmen questioned in disbelief. I smiled and nodded. She started crying and turned to hug David. They followed me back to the nurses station where they paged Dr. Brooks. It only took him a few minutes to appear and we rushed back to Selena's room. Before we entered Dr. Brooks stopped us.
