Christmas Break was almost here, and the DA decided to have one last meeting before the holiday vacation.  Flouncing into the Room of Requirement, Luna was surprised to see it decked out with Christmas décor.  But it was…interesting décor.  It all looked fairly handmade and all had a certain theme to it: Harry.  There were banners wishing everyone a “Very Harry Christmas” and glowing golden ornaments bearing his face as well.

Luna found Harry in one corner and went over to him.  “Hello,” she said dully, causing him to turn around in surprise at her sudden presence.  “This is nice, did you make them?” she gestured towards the decorations.

“What?” Harry exclaimed.  “Er, no.  It was Dobby the house-elf.”

Peering above their heads, Luna spied a particular plant.  “Mistletoe,” she said dreamily.  Harry jumped back.

Not offended at all, Luna stated very seriously, “Good idea,” she took a step back as well and continued.  “It’s probably filled with nargles.”

Luna turned away, missing Harry’s confused and delayed reaction.

Through the lesson on blocking spells and jinxes, Luna’s mind kept wandering to dirigible plums, wrackspurts, and the lovely possibility that she would be seeing her father very soon.  These daydreams resulted in her being stunned by several forceful spells from the end of Cho’s wand.

When the end of the lesson came, Harry stood up.

“You have all done wonderfully these past weeks,” Harry complimented.  Bashful faces filled the room at Harry’s kind words.  “Perhaps, after Christmas break we can begin with Patronuses.”

There were murmurs of excitement all around the room.  Patronuses were a very advanced form of Defensive magic and were used to defend oneself from dementors, horrid, soul-sucking creatures.  Once the chatter died down, Harry resumed his speech.

“Just remember, everyone, to practice hard over the break.  We will have a review lesson for our first meeting back just in case anyone needs catching up first.”  A few heads turned in Neville’s direction.  Luna didn’t know why though, fore in her opinion, Neville had done quite splendidly that day, casting almost well-aimed jinxes left and right.  But then, remember she was angry at Neville, grudgingly agreed.

As the band of merry rebels was dismissed, upon her exit, Luna made sure to avoid the mistletoe that was surely infested.  On her way out, she thanked Harry and headed to the Ravenclaw common room for some final packing.

But on her way, she made to stop by and tell a certain someone goodbye.

“I’ll see you soon, Helena,” she said to the ghost, wishing she could hug her new friend.

“I will miss you dearly, Luna,” Helena said brightly.

“And you as well!” Luna replied with emotion.  But after a final glance at her un-dead friend, she resorted to skipping away towards the peace of packing.
