"Amber! Tea's ready!" my Mum's shout woke me up. I glanced at my alarm clock and saw it was 7:30 pm. Wasn't Max here a few hours ago? Or was that a dream? Maybe he's downstairs being smothered by my Mum? Oh no, I was cringing at the thought. That's when a neon pink object that was on my door caught my eye. It was a post-it note with scruffy handwriting scrawled over it. It read;

You fell asleep so I put you to bed and went home. See you at 8 tomorrow.

I guess I had someone to walk to school with. I trudged down the stairs, still feeling 85% asleep.

"So, who was this friend you had over?" Mum asked as I sat down at the table.

"He's called Max," I answered, stuffing my face with pizza.

"It's a boy? Why didn't you tell me?" she said, playfully slapping my arm.

"Just because he's my friend that is a boy, doesn't mean he's my boyfriend!" I told her, maybe a little too forcefully.

"Hmm," she replied, still smirking. I swiftly finished my tea and headed upstairs, I was still tired somehow. I slipped my school cothes off and changed into my pj's, snuggling into bed.

Max's POV

 The harsh light of the sun poured through my windows, my fault for not closing them last night. I slowly stretched out and swung my legs over the edge of the bed. I made my way downstairs, putting a slice of bread in the toaster. I couldn't help but think of Amber. She was so funny, kind, bubbly, I didn't understand how people would want to bully her. They call her fat, when she clearly was not, at all. I was planning on introducing her to Matt today, and maybe some of the other guys if she came over for band practice. She was great at guitar too, which was a bonus. She was like the perfect best friend. The smell of burning filled my nostrils, I quickly retrieved my black toast and dropped it onto my plate. Maybe I wouldn't be having breakfast today after all. Rushing upstairs, I got changed, brushed my teeth and hair and quickly finished off some homework from last night. I walked outside into the warm air and began to walk to Amber's house. hopefully I could remem

ber where her house was. I walked up to what I think was her front door and knocked on it. For some reason I felt a little nervous as I waited for her to open it. The door swung open and I saw Amber smiling at me. I smiled back as she called goodbye to her Mum, then stepped outside.

"Hey," she greeted me.

"Hi," I said back. From then on, the conversation just flowed. Although I had only met her yesterday, I acctually felt like I had known her my whole life.

Soon enough, lunch came and I found myself walking onto the playground with Matt. I instantly spotted Amber sitting cross legged on the floor, leaning against the fence. It looked like she had her earphones in.

"Matt, there's someone I want you to meet," I said to him, walking in her direction. I could tell Amber and Max were going to get on like a house on fire.

"Yeah, who?" he asked, face stuffed full of food.

"She's called Amber. She's really nice," I said.

"Really? I would've expected her to be a bitch!" he said sarcastically. I introduced the two and they seemed to just click like we did, I was really glad that we had met. Not trying to sound mean, but it seemed like she didn't have any friends. It seemed that way in the toilets yesterday. We just talked for the rest of lunch break, just getting to know eachother.  I could tell we were going to be great friends.

Ah, sorry this is a crap chapter but meh, deal with it.
