"Come sit with us." August said as he pushed over on the log he was sitting on. I came and sat down next to me. Merlin looked at me.

"Who is the person I remind you of?" I asked him again.

Merlin grinned.

"Long ago I lived in New York city. It was beautiful and thriving. Filled with many people and opportunity. I was only a young teenager like you in 1824. That's when I met Charles. Charles came from wealthy people. He was the second child in a set of triplet boys. All them were different and unique in their own way. Charles however, he was different for a vampire.

"Charles had gift no vampire had ever had. He could see the future. He was prized among the vampire world. His mother was part of the first setting of council members."

"Delilah Holin." I said out loud.

"Your child knows his history well." Snow said with smile. Dad smiled back.

"Yes Delilah was his mother. Beautiful women and very funny. Charles however reminds me of you. He wasn't as outgoing as his brothers but he was smart. He was curious about everything and saw the good in everyone. He was my closest friend. Many times his gift helped me. But it was one time he need it and it failed him.

Delilah kept her son's gift hidden. But it was hard to when his visions would come at odd times. It was nothing he could control. The council assumed he was the profit. Delilah refused. But that didn't stop other vampires from being scared of him. The last night I seen Charles were hiding home when one his brothers found him. Said their house was on fire. A few days later they found that Mr. Holin had been asleep and had not made it out. They moved away. When I was twenty I had word that Delilah, Franklin and Joseph all died. Charles had made it out the house fire."

"Who started the fire?" I asked.

"He never found out." My dad said. "He went to them asking fir help. But they refused to get involve and put themselves at risk. They offered him a place among the council because of his gift." That sounded like what my mom told me. When her and my dad needed help.

"What happened to Charles." I asked.

"Charles kind of went to a dark place. His family is what made him happy. He loved his brothers alot. The council turned their back on what happened so he turned his back on the world. I haven't heard from him in a while. Charles has turned into a loner. He doesn't want to be found." I felt bad for the guy. I wouldn't know what to do if I lost mom or dad.

"Where is he now?" I asked.

"I don't know." Merlin said. "I don't see him really. Every now and then he just shows up. But I have question for you Riley." I sat up right. "What special gift do you have?"

"I can heal really fast and others. But I don't know how to heal others. Mom said I did once as a kid." I didn't know if I should have said something about hearing and controlling humans.

"One other thing." My father said. "What I told you before about him." I looked at dad wide eyed.

"Yes, that is another unique gift." Marlin said. I looked up to hand on my shoulder. Heather Sat down next to me

"Don't worry, your safe we won't tell anyone." I tried to relax. It was hard to because I haven't really met other vampires outside my family before.

"It's your unique gift, that will help you break the tie between your teacher and your friend." One of the other men came and sat down. It was Jason, Heather's husband. "It will be up to you. But I can show you how to break the tie."

"I have a question of my own?" I asked looking at Heather. "What's this feeling I'm having? Every since I got close to this place, I felt something. I don't know if I should be scared or not."
