The Epilogue of Something We Deserved

Opening my eyes, I'm blinded by immediately from the ceiling lights as I lay in the maternity ward.

I made it?

Or is this the after life?

I bloody hope not because if I'm stuck in a hospital for the rest of my miserable existence I'm going to be....

"Hey!!! Hey!! Honey! Oh my god! Hi!" Max happily and excitedly stands up from his spot next to my bed and comes over, pressing kiss after kiss to my face without care.

"Hmm...what happened?" It takes me a moment and then panic sets in. "Beans!!! Where are my baby's?!??!"

"It's okay. It's okay, honey. They're alright they're all healthy- they're hanging out in the NICU for a bit. Every one of them is perfectly healthy and happy. They've been waiting for you patiently." I relax as he presses a few kisses to my temple. "You've been out for a bit- so we had to pump you cause your boys are hungry fellas..."

"Boys?" I excitedly ask and he smiles.

"Twin boys and Twin girls. Girls..."

"Came first...right?"

"Ye...yeah. How did you?" He begins to ask confused and I just smile.

"Call it mother's intuition." I state and he smirks.

"What went on in there? Hmm?"

"I had the most amazing dreams, Max. Our children all of them just growing together. Jasmine, Jayla, Jaden and Joseph. They're all so sweet and handfuls— and the bloody attitudes as teenagers- I just am warning you now they are not going to be easy and we're going to need motion lights on the sides of the house as well as security cameras for when the...."

"Settle down, Baby. Calm down- you're moving a mile a minute. Haha."

"You're laughing now, but you won't when your fifteen year old and I have to make a midnight run to the corner shop cause she thinks she pregnant or when your one boy gets me tackled by a security officer at his basketball game because I heckle the ref too much. You wait. You won't be laughing then."

"Love, haha- you have some off the wall dreams. I'm just glad to see you're okay. We almost lost you there. Hypotension and preeclampsia- Hon." he stops laughing and his face drops. "I really thought...I really thought I'd have to keep that promise I made you."

"That promise is outstanding. In ALL circumstances- not just for their birth- in all circumstances, you choose them." I state and he sighs.

We let silence fill the room and after a few moments he smiles at me softly.

"So a basketball player and a pregnancy risk—what about the other two?"

"Jasmine loves art and is an amazing painter and Joseph is all about dinosaurs."

I tell him all about my dreams.

He seems joyed by them as well as slightly sad.

After they're all heard, he has the babies wheeled up to us and Joel and the tots come up with our parents to meet them.

Joel- without any influence whatsoever, choose the exact middle names as the ones in my dream and it makes me feel as if all of this has happened before some how.

As though our world is just experiencing an alternate reality to another one.

Where we all dream and appear to our other selves and we impact one another.

I can't know for sure if my dreams are based in reality, or if it's all just randomly by chance.

But I hope to which ever reality I'm a dream in...

I hope they enjoyed what I had to offer and I hope that take a little bit of something from my life and make it their reality.

I had a great ride and I'm looking forward to hopefully more rides to come.

I'm Dr. Helen Sharpwin.

And I can say I think this is exactly what we all deserved.

The End!

Thank you all to whom have read and commented on this fanfiction. It's once more been my greatest pleasure taking you along for a wild journey.

I have a few ideas bouncing around in my head both for Sharpwin and Goldman. If I can balance them out- I may do one of each.

I have very Heavy Alternative Universe ideas for Sharpwin- one based in an off kilter Dystopian future of sorts where societal norms are both vastly eschewed and yet an odd historical based view on Women's role in society has never changed.

As well as a Sharpwin Fic where they are not doctors in this universe but teachers awkwardly dealing with a different style of life than we're used to at New Amsterdam.

I have a What If change up for a Season Two Sharpwin Fic, where I explore a few new avenues that could have been taken- nothing too over the top.

And as for Goldman-

I'm bouncing around a special idea of how a simple game can change the lives of our two favorite actors and what their life secretly looks like.

If you have any preference as to which you may want me to start with and/or an idea you would like to see me explore for you- please feel free to either private message me on here or comment below. I love hearing from all of you and I try my damnedest to try and please you all with something you'll like.

As always, thank you for all your support and I hope to hear from you in the next one!

Love,

Almy Rose
