Last night was beyond the best nights I've ever had.

Sex three times.

Tons of cuddling and sweet talk.

And the promise of wonderful things to come.

If you asked me decades ago what I imagined my life would be at forty- I would have never been able to describe a truer bliss than right now.

I had awoken early- despite the long night of love making, and I began the routine of changing baby diapers and getting them dressed. With each child on my hip, I make my way downstairs- where I release the wildlings to play in the living room while I prepare breakfast.

"Bluey, pease." Luna comes to me with the remote and I can't stop smiling at how wonderful my little girl is.

"Of course! Let's see what Chili and Bandit are making for their babies." I state as I head in to the living room and turn on the telly. Finding Bluey- the second it comes on with the theme song, both kids are frenzied with dancing and running in circles.

I love this show.

Truly.

It is one I will actually put on and watch for hours without care.

I would love to claim it taught me how to be a better Mum.

Heading back into the kitchen, I prepare a breakfast of scrambled eggs with cheese, Turkey sausage links, toast, and some breakfast potatoes when Max makes his appearance through a big yawn. As I'm cracking eggs, he comes around the island, wraps his arms around my waist and kisses the crook of my neck several times, his beard tickling me slightly as he does so.

"Haha...good morning, Darling. You could have slept in longer. It is Saturday after all."

"Yeah...but the best thing to sleep in with left me cold and alone." He squeezes me tighter kisses my neck and shoulders a few more times.

"Mum!" Zep yells and we briefly look up- but he's simply dancing around the living room as Bingo shouts for her own mum.

"He's a nut." Max laughs to himself tiredly.

"That's your son. He's wild like you."

"Fair." He states and helps with the sausages. "So, my beautiful Bonnie lass- what's on the agenda today?"

"I don't know my love- what do you want to do?" I ask and he smiles sweetly as he turns the sausages over in the pan.

"I was thinking maybe we take a walk around the zoo and get something yummy." He casually says.

"Sounds like a plan. I haven't been to the zoo."

"Seriously?" He perks up a bit when he here's this.

"In fact...I don't think I've ever been to a zoo."

"That's...that's really sad. Not even as a kid?"

"No, parents never took me to one. The boarding school I went to didn't take us on outings like that."

"And you never just decided to go...like as an adult?"

"Why would I?"

"Because...because it's a cool experience. I mean obviously animals are meant to live a better life in the wild- but it's still amazing to get to see things you may never get to see otherwise. Think of your leopard print-everything- have you ever seen a live one that wasn't on tv?"

"No."

"Ahhh!! I'm so excited for you! This is going to be an amazing day! You're going to love it!" He quite literally hops up and down with excitement and the children take notice of their Dad's excited behavior.
