Nathan's POV
"I came here because I heard what happened.Are you okay?"Veronica walked closer to my bed and touched my face.I removed her hand with my left.
"Veronica stop!We're never going to happen."
"But you and Kaylee broke up.Give us a chance."
'We just got back together and I promised myself never to lose her again.Please,stop."
"But Nathan,I love you."
"Excuse me,Miss?I'm his Mom,please stay away from my son if you don't want me to file a restraint."
"Hi,Mrs.Adrian.I'm you son's girlfriend."
"Stay away from my son.He loves Kaylee,not you."Veronica turned to me.
"What did Kaylee do to you?"
"It was an accident.Please Veronica,accept that we're not happening.I only treat you as a friend.That's it."
"You're gonna love me one day Nathan.Just let me love you."
"No Veronica,Kaylee has my heart.Forever."She left the room crying.
Kaylee's POV
I was on my way back when I saw Veronica crying.
"Are you okay?"I asked her.
"Stay away from me!I'll get Nathan from you."I just shrugged.I'm used to her saying that,it's nothing new.
"Okay then.Bye."
"Wait.What is that?"she asked me.
"Hot soup,would you like some?"She took one of the containers and opened it.I thought she was gonna eat it.
"Hey look,it has hair on it."I looked not knowing that she was going to dispose the hot soup on my face.I closed my eyes and wiped it away.
"How could you!"Mrs.Adrian yelled.She slapped Veronica and called the guards.
"Honey,are you okay?Here's a napkin.Let's go to the restroom."I followed her and I washed my face with cold water.She got ice and put it on my face.
"Does she always hurt you like that?"She asked wiping my face.I shook my head.
"Kaylee,"she hugged me.
"I know what it feels like to love someone who doesn't love you back."
"But she doesn't have the right to hurt you.I'll file a restraint order as soon as possible."
"No need Mrs.Adrian,let's just let her be."
"Fine,but if she hurts you again,I'm sending her to jail."We laughed.
"We're always here for you okay?"I nodded.
"Thank you.Een though I'm not your daughter."
"Not yet."We went back to Nathan's room with new food.
"What took you so long?I missed you.Come here."I set the food down and hugged him.
"What happened?"
"Uh..noth--"
"Veronica disposed hot soup on her face."
"What?!"He tried getting up but I stopped him.
"Mom,please file a restraint."
"I wanted to but she doesn't want me to."
"Babe,"
"It's fine."
"No it's not,this is the second time she has hurt you."
"I understand her.I know how she feels,let's just leave her alone."
"No,we can't.We have to send her to jail.Mom,please call a lawyer."
"Sure,son."
"Mrs.Adrian,no."
"Yes."Nathan said.
"No."
"Yes."
"Nathan!Stop,we're not filing a case!"I yelled crying.I already have too many problems.
"I'm sorry babe,I just don't want Veronica hurting you."
"Please,don't file a case."
"We won't."
"Let's eat,babe?"
"I have to go check on mom."
"But babe,"
"I'll be back in an hour."
I went to the chapel to pray first.
God,please heal my parents and Nathan.I don't know what I would do without them.I would give anything up if you just let my parents stay longer.Thank you for everything you've given to me and my family.Please help Veronica find her happiness.
I wiped my tears and went to Mom's room.
"How is she feeling?I whispered.
"She's doing fine.She woke up earlier asking for you but I told her you were with Nathan and will visit later."
"What did the doctor say?Did you tell her yet?"
"The doctor hasn't come here yet and no.I want to give her time to rest.He did advise not to let her be stressed."
"Do you think she'll be fine?"
"Yes,your Mom's a strong woman."
"You're gonna have surgery in two weeks."
"Kaylee,you didn't have to spend money."
"What's the use of all our money if we only use it for necessities in life?I'm trying to find a donor for mom too."
"Okay,fine."
"Great,get ready okay?"
"Will do.Oh,your uncle called,they're gonna visit your mom on th weekend."
"Where are they now?"
"Nevada."
"Oh."
"But he did say that your cousin is here."
"Who?I've never met any of my cousins."There was a knock on the door.
"Come in."
"Cecilia,what are you doing here?"My dad asked Nathan's mom.
"Just dropping by to check on Amelia.How is she?"
"She's doing fine.How's Nathan?"
"He's in his room bored."
"Go check on your boyfriend Kaylee."my dad ordered.
"Dad,he's doing fine."
"He actually told me to fetch you when I told him I was gonna go check on your mom."
"See?Go."
"But I wanna wait for mom to wake up."
"I'll call you when she does."
"Are you sure?"
"Yes."
"Okay,take care of her.Bye Mrs.Adrian."
"Bye,honey."I left mom's room and went to Nathan's.
"What do you need?"I asked him right when I walked in.
"I missed you.Do you not want to be with me?"
"No,it's not that."
"It sure sound's like it."
"Well,you have to understand that my mom's sick."
"I know but I miss you."
"Nathan,you're a lot better than my mom right now,she needs me there."he sighed.
"You're right,go."
"Thank you.I love you."I kissed his cheek and he smiled at me before I left the room.I entered mom's room and was shocked but what I saw.
