When I say the sport of tennis saved my life it is not an understatement

In 7th grade students at SFA Middle school are required to complete an athletic credit. Most guys played football and those less athletic would just take gym class and then there was the group of about fifteen of us that took tennis. We had to try out for the team, but literally everyone that tried out made it. I was never taught proper grip and how to change grips so I only progressed as far as the basic motions. This was an introductory course to the sport though so the major point or objective was to get the ball back over, doesn't matter how hard or high, just get it back over.

I believe due to peer pressure and the like I didn't sign up to take it in 8th grade, instead myself and my friends went through offseason training all year which consisted of cardio and weight lifting. By the time I got to high school I was back enrolled in the sport and it was my first class as a high school student at Bryan High. In the class our coach taught us proper grip, how to swing, serve, and the basics to intermediate of the fundamentals. Why I say tennis saved my life was because it was literally the only activity of value I saw and I needed it every day as therapy to get by. Tennis was the only reason why I went to school and the best part was being able to play on the courts both before and after school which myself and members of the freshman and junior varsity team would do daily. It was a sport that didn't require contact with another person so that is the main reason why I found comfort in the game. I have the arm to where I could have been pitcher on the baseball team or quarterback on the football team, but instead I chose tennis
