Ardennes Forest

December 1944

——————

The tanks crawled their way across the snow,

The base was a few dozen mikes (miles) away, luckily, the supply truck had fuel cans.

The T29E3 towered over the M36s it's gun was longer than that of a King Tiger, and it was of 105mm caliber.

Needless to say, any Panzer from any distance might as well be destroyed when faced against this gun.

Carm looked around with his binoculars, even though the fog had cleared, the snowed over trees could be hiding anything.

——————————

The Jagdpanther continued to follow the formation at a far distance, its mobility was excellent, allowing it to keep up with the formation of Americans even when in the woods nearby,

The driver took as much care as he could to make sure he didn't hit a tree.

Obersharführer Jodl kept his eyes transfixed onto the cupola viewports

His driver took a hard left to keep the L/70 gun barrel from hitting a tree,

He hit his head on the viewport.

"Ach!" He said.

"Sorry sir!" His driver whined

"Ugh! Do you have the commander on the radio!"

"Jawohl!"

"Keep it there! Don't talk to me until I tell you, you can!"

"Jawohl! He said again

Yukari was too busy learning English to care about the cold.

Despite Gary's incessant shivering.

He was from a place called "Texas"

And from the boy's chatter, they made it sound like it was the surface of the sun with how hot it was.

Texas was a US state, similar to a prefecture in Japan, and from what she could tell, their accents differed from state to state.

As she kept looking in the English book, she could understand more and more of their chatter,

Because, unlike in school, there was actual, serious necessity for her to learn it.

And apparently, she figured out what slang was, because she accidentally mistakenly thought slang was actual words,

And they used slang a LOT

"Ain't" means "is no" for example

Yukari then said a sentence using the word "Ain't"

"Ain't there any krauts behind those trees?" She said in English

The tank freaking swerved upon her uttering that

It turns out Dan actually kicked the control yoke by accident.

EVERYONE inside that tank was staring straight though her.

"D-Did I get the grammar wrong......?" She said in Japanese

"No, you just, said slang."

Saying American slang in an accent other than an American one sounded like a foreign language.

The boys started chuckling.

And then it broke into a laugh

"What did I do wrong?!" She fussed

Carm slapped her back

"Nothing! That just sounded supremely different when a foreigner speaks English!"

Oh so THATS why.

Well maybe it's was funny to hear them practicing the language she spoke since birth....

She tried to join in.

————————

It was good to laugh when everything was depressing.

At least they could laugh a little.

There were a few American half tracks passing by, as well as a few small Sherman tanks.

Their commanders had to look up to see the giant beast that was driving right next to them.

Carm had goggles and a cloth over his face to keep out the wind,

They must be getting close.

——————————

The Jagdpanther continued to try and move past building debris and trees, just narrowly staying out of view of the Amerikaner

——————————

"Hey" Second Lieutenant Gavin said across the radio from his M36

"That's home.." he said, pointing to a cluster of small buildings and tents sitting in the heavily covered trees

"Home huh?"

"Everyone get ready to leave! We're almost there!" Carm yelled into his tank's interior
