It was the night before our big wedding. I was standing in the bathroom removing my makeup when long, strong arms wrapped around my waist from behind. Carefully I opened my eyes and looked in the mirror with a big smile just as I felt Roman's lips on my neck.

"How's my bride? Nervous about tomorrow?" he murmured in my ear.

"Actually, no. More excited. I'm glad that my parents and my brother could come. Even though it's going to be very tiring for Felix because he has to translate everything." I replied as I finished and turned in his arms so I could look at him.

"I'm glad too. Can you believe it's been a year already?" Roman asked as his hands caressed my back.

"Time has passed so quickly. A year since we first kissed." I said dreamily as I thought back on it.

"Mmmh... yes, that's true... I had to convince your stubborn ass to marry me somehow. Glad it worked out." he chuckled softly.

"Well, what can I say... You had some very good arguments. I was instantly addicted to those plump, warm lips." I replied, then stood on my tiptoes to reach said lips.

"Ditto, baby girl. You had me from the first moment. I loved you right away." said Ro against my lips.

"I love you too." I breathed.

"Do you want to take a shower with me?" he wanted to know after a few minutes.

"Try to keep me from it. I just need to grab a new bottle of conditioner real quick. Someone used up the last one." I said before giving him a smooch and squeezing his butt.

While Roman already turned on the shower and brought to a comfortable temperature, I knelt on the floor and searched under the counter for the conditioner. I was sure that we still had a bottle. But while I was rummaging for it, I stumbled over something else and froze. Immediately I started thinking. As I held the box of tampons in my hand, I tried to remember when I had my last period.

But nothing came to mind. I had been so busy preparing for the wedding that that was the last thing on my mind. Roman must have noticed my blank look.

"Dani?" he asked.

Slowly I regained composure and jumped to my feet. I quickly rushed to the bedroom where my phone was. I typed away until I found what I was looking for. My periods app. And indeed I was 6 weeks late.

"Dani? What's wrong?" asked Roman worriedly after following me.

"I... um... I'm late." I said quietly, then looked up at him.

Immediately I saw his eyes start to sparkle enthusiastically as he understood what I was getting at.

"Oh! Ooooh! Do we have a test here?" he asked me quickly as he rushed to me. I shook my head.

"Okay, come with me, baby girl. We're making a quick trip to the store! This is fucking amazing!" he then said reaching for my hand.

"Wait! We have to get dressed first. As much as I enjoy the sight of you, it's not appropriate for the drugstore." I giggled excitedly as he tried to leave the house in boxers.

"Right!" he muttered and quickly put some clothes on. So did I. Then we were on our way.

It was good that the nearest drugstore was not far away. It took less than 10 minutes. Together we went in and got three pregnancy tests. just in case. And then Roman also grabbed a big bottle of ice tea. I looked at him questioningly.

"What? I know, you have to pee a lot from it. And that's what we need right now." he explained to me.

God, it was so cute how excited he was. Hopefully this wasn't just a false alarm.

Roman paid and as we made our way back home I hurriedly drank the bottle of ice tea. Of course, my husband was right. It wasn't long before I desperately needed to go to the bathroom.

"Please do all three tests, okay..." he said to me.

"One is enough Ro. Please calm down." I replied as I read through the test instructions.

"Never. Just do them all. For me, baby girl!" he said, sounding very breathless.

Hopefully he would not hyperventilate. I didn't want him to pass out and hurt himself. But I couldn't deny that I had butterflies in my stomach. Maybe we'd get another reason to celebrate tomorrow.

"Three minutes." I whispered as I came back into the bedroom from the bathroom.

"That's it! I just know it!" he murmured as he held me tightly in his arms.

I jumped a little as the timer signaled that time was up. Roman looked at me and I nodded. He took the first test in his hand and slowly turned it over. He didn't need to say anything. The expression in his eyes was enough. I knew immediately that there could be only one reason for this.

"We're having a baby!" he whispered with a soft sniffle.

I had been right. The sparkle in his eyes and the little smile that played around his lips... that could mean nothing but perfect happiness.
