22 I don't like this...

"Do you have any idea how long this meeting will take?" asked Roman as he watched me get ready.

We were in our hotel room in New Haven, where the show was going to be tonight. And since it was only an hour away from Stamford I was able to squeeze everything in.

"There will be a total of 5 different companies sending their representatives. They will each have 15 minutes to present their campaign to us. With breaks and debriefing, we should be done by noon. So don't worry, I'll definitely be back by show time." I replied as I put my hands on his shoulders.

Roman sat on the bed and pulled me closer to him by the hips. His thumbs drew little circles as he looked up at me.

"I sure hope so. We've been married for six months. That calls for a celebration. Don't you think?" he murmured softly.

"I totally agree with you, Ro. That's why I have something very special to wear, or rather take off, in my suitcase." I replied and then leaned in to give my husband a little kiss.

"I can't wait, baby girl. You should probably get going. The sooner you'll be back with me." he said against my lips.

"I wish I didn't have to go. I'm not looking forward to this meeting very much. But we need a new promotional partner on the East Coast." I sighed as I broke away from Roman to put on my shoes.

"What's going on? Is there something you haven't told me?" he asked as he rose from the bed.

"Kinda... well.... the thing is... One of the companies is the Kennedy Group and I have no idea who they're going to send." I replied hesitantly, knowing he wouldn't like that very much.

"Oh you're kidding me right? What if it's the motherfucker?" he asked, upset.

"Then I just do my job. I'm not alone and it's over quickly. And I'll do my best to make sure they don't get the job," I said, taking his hands reassuringly in mine.

"I don't like this... Promise me that you will call me immediately if anything happens. Then I'll come right away." he replied almost growling.

"Baby, nothing is going to happen, but if it makes you feel better, I'll check in after each presentation and before I head back." I promised him as I squeezed his hands tightly.

"It would." he said and gave me a kiss on the forehead.

"Okay... I love you and I'll see you later Mr. Reigns." I replied and then kissed him to distract him a little.

"This has been very underwhelming so far. I hope the last entry will be better." said my colleague Maria.

"It's the Kennedy Group right? Get ready for a disappointment," I muttered.

"We'll see. I'm going to the bathroom real quick. Be right back." she then said.

I looked through my notes and then took the opportunity to write Roman a message. As promised, I kept him updated.

"Good morning, Ma'am. We're from the Kennedy Group. Is it okay if we come in already." said a voice behind me that I immediately recognized but would have preferred never to hear again.

"I'm Mr. Fuller. This is my boss, Mr. Fraser. It's nice to meet you- what the hell are you doing here?" said Gabriel as I turned around.

"Miss Müller? What are you doing here?" asked Mr. Fraser, equally surprised but more composed.

"What does it look like? I work here. And it's Mrs. Reigns to you." I replied sharply.

"You're still in the States? And you're married?" hissed Gab.

"Yes, I am. Unlike you, there is a man who loves me and adores me. Now, get ready so we can begin as soon as my colleague returns," I said as I adjusted my chair.

I saw that he was completely beside himself. During the whole presentation it was hard for him to control his temper. I wouldn't have been surprised if smoke had come out of his ears. And I could tell that Mr. Fraser was very irritated with him. Several times he tried to get him back on track, but without much success.

"Thank you very much for your time. We'll get back to you when we've made a decision." said Maria at the end of it all.

She looked at me and I had to stifle a laugh because she rolled her eyes. It had probably been the worst presentation she had ever seen.

The two men left the room. But not without a few burning looks in my direction.

Afterwards, Maria and I talked for a few minutes about what we had heard today. We compared notes so that we could write a complete report on the various presentations.

When we were done with everything, she left while I packed up my stuff. Then I went to the elevator and texted Roman on the way that I was about to head back to New Haven.

"I can't believe you bitch managed to stay in the country," it growled behind me as I waited for the elevator.

"You're wrong. I am back in the country. You did almost manage to ruin my life. But in the end, you asshole just led me into the arms of a much better man. I should actually be grateful to you for that, but.... you can wait a long time for that, you man-whore. I hope Betty has left your ass by now." I replied.

"What was that?" he hissed as he stepped very close to me. So close that our faces almost touched.

"Get away from me!" I said loudly as I pushed him away.

I didn't want to wait any longer for the elevator, so I decided to take the stairs. It was only 2 floors. I could probably get into the parking garage faster that way.

"Don't you dare run away from me again, you bitch!" yelled Gab as he followed me.

I quickened my steps, but he followed me. Just as I was going down the first set of stairs, he grabbed me by the hair.

"Let go of me! Have you lost your mind?" I screeched as I tried to break free.

"You don't deserve to be loved, DJ. You don't deserve to be married. You're nothing without me. You will regret it if we don't get this job, you understand?" he growled in my ear.

"You will never get this job. WWE is too important to work with amateurs. You proved that impressively during your presentation." I replied when he finally managed to disengage me from him.

"Too bad you won't determine that anymore." he laughed bitterly.

Before I understood what he meant, he was already pushing me down the stairs. My head banged against the wall. Again and again. A sharp pain shot through my ribs. Gasping, I came to a stop at the bottom of the stairs.

"Oh I'm not done with you yet." I heard that voice again as he began to stomp on me.

I tried to scream, but I couldn't breathe. Pain spread through my body, so much so that it wasn't long before I lost consciousness. My last thought was that I hoped someone had heard the noise and that help was on the way.
