"So what did you do during your time in witness protection?" Yeji questioned, laying besides the other.

It was already morning judging by the brightness coming through the window but the two made no attempts of leaving the bed.

After their conversation the previous night, and some fun that got both ditching their clothing, they sleep for a few hours only to wake up and chat again.

After all, they had two years of catching up to do.

Ryujin shrugged, "Worked. They gave me a fake name and documents so I got myself a job at a coffee shop. I mostly spent my time either working or attempting to discover new hobbies."

"And did you?"

Ryujin smiled, "Found a few. Art can be therapeutic I suppose but my focus was always on photography. Only thing I kept missing was my favorite subject."

A wink being thrown at her and Yeji couldn't help but to kiss Ryujin. Both smiling into the kiss.

"I really did miss you." Yeji let out, resting her forehead against Ryujin's.

Ryujin kissing her nose before she closed her eyes for a moment. "I promise you won't have to miss me again."

"Ever?"

"Ever."

"That's quite the statement, Shin."

Ryujin shrugged, a smile on her face as she began to track down her clothing and put it on. "Whatever happens in the future..." she paused, looking back at her. "In our future," another pause, a smile as Ryujin approached her to kiss her lips. Quickly and softly. "Whatever happens, i'm here."

"Pinky promise it."

"Yeji, come on. Are we kids?" Ryujin said with a chuckle and a skeptical expression.

Holding out her pinky, Yeji mustered up her best 'I mean business' face and waited until Ryujin gave in and wrapped her pinky around hers.

"Promise."

Showing up unannounced like that had apparently been a last minute impulsive decision of Ryujin's.

The girl had been informed the day before of her release from witness protection, although she was to stay out of trouble for years to come otherwise she would be behind bars. Either way, as she thought about Christmas and Yeji, Ryujin couldn't help but feel compelled to travel all the way to her hometown where she presumed the Hwangs would be spending the holiday.

So she drove there. On a whim. Hoping to see the people she had missed.

Yeji was honestly surprised to find that for once in her life, she knew of something before her brother did.

To say that Ryujin had fun scaring the crap out of Hyunjin was an understatement. With Yeji to help, they had her brother convinced that Ryujin was nothing but a ghost that only he could see.

It lasted only a couple of minutes though followed by a tearful reunion. Even Yeji's mother was emotional when welcoming back Ryujin. As was Heejin who had spent the night over with her brother.

Ryujin explained her story and what had happened to everyone, minus the details she had offered Yeji. Satisfying the curiosity of everyone present before they proceeded with the scheduled celebrations.

After the family lunch, Yeji and Hyunjin found themselves in dish duty and that's when her brother began to question her about things they hadn't ever got around to discuss. Truth was, for the most part Ryujin had been a subject they avoided her but now she supposed avoidance was no longer necessary.

"Now that she's back I guess I should give her the 'if you hurt my sister' talk." Hyunjin joked, placing the plate aside as Yeji busied herself washing another.

Yeji chuckled, shaking her head. "You're a few years too late. Even if we never dated."

"Is that so?"

She hummed.

"I suspected so. Ryujin always had some weird interest in you and it was obvious that you started to care for her along the way. Nobody could have missed the way you two looked at each other. I'm only surprised you weren't dating already."

"Were we that obvious?" Yeji asked scrunching her nose at the notion that she wasn't able to hide her feelings well enough.

"Disgustingly so. But I'm glad you spared me the sight of you two and the details."

Yeji only rolled her eyes in response.

Ryujin showing up a moment later and patting Hyunjin's back while winking and grinning at Yeji. "Did we get the approval of the older brother yet?"

"Working on it." Yeji offered, eyeing Hyunjin.

Turning around he looked at Ryujin and shrugged, leaning back against the kitchen counter. "If you hurt her, I'll hurt you. Otherwise it's all good with me. And the hurting goes both ways. I know which stuffed animal is your favorite." His eyes looked at Yeji's who only rolled hers in response. Ryujin smiling happily at the approval of her brother.

They were in the living room when Ryujin suddenly struck up a conversation and somehow made it so the subject of Yeji dating was brought up.

"Ryujin, if you'd like permission to date my daughter all you have to do is ask. But you two are old enough not to need asking. Although, I do appreciate the intention."

"Oh." Ryujin sounded embarrassed and looked like it too, rubbing the back of her neck and her cheeks a light pink color. "Thank you."

Yeji could only smile at the sight.

"But don't ever entangle her in anything bad. That better be only in the past if you're to date my daughter."

"Ma." Yeji whined, hearing snickering from both Hyunjin and Heejin.

"I'm only protecting you."

Ryujin placed a hand over hers, smiling softly at her before meeting eyes with her mother. "We haven't discussed labels yet and honestly, I want to take your daughter on a proper date before we take that step. But you have my word that I won't ever involve Yeji in anything dangerous and will make sure to keep her safe."

Ryujin stayed over that night as well and as they laid next to each other they continued to speak about life. All the things they had never told each other and bringing up all they had been wondering.

Ryujin asking Yeji if she had fallen for Wooyoung, which she confirmed hadn't happened. And Yeji questioning the other about a certain girl she had once given a chance to. Explaining that she hadn't felt a thing for the girl in question and the more she tried to force it, the more she realized it was Yeji she had wanted.

It wasn't, however, until a month later that the two finally went on their first date. A successful one at that as they finished the night in Yeji's bed.

Ryujin eventually moved out of their hometown, to Seoul.

Both living in the same city, although the two decided not to rush too much. Living separated lives for the most part. Although Ryujin would often spend time with Yeji's friend group and the two continued to go out regularly.

It wasn't until months later they they finally put a label on what they had. After yet another girl had attempted to hit on Ryujin, something that pissed Yeji off to the point of asking her to make them official.

Yuna was also a constant nowadays. Having grown closer to Ryujin with time and eventually starting to become friends with their friend group. The girl was definitely a far better person than her mother was.

Eventually, Yeji began an internship in an art studio. While Ryujin had a job to help pay for her photography classes. Something she hoped to make her career afterwards.

Despite the rollercoaster that had been their relationship, Yeji wouldn't have had it any other way.

When she asked for a bit of chaos in her life, Yeji had never expected it to come in the form of Shin Ryujin. But now, Yeji welcomed chaos into her life and even dared to love it.

If chaos was Ryujin, then Yeji would gladly live a chaotic life.
