Her words made Breac draw back as if she had struck him.

It was times like this that made Breac wish he could she her face. See her eyes, to know how she was feeling. The lass sat with her back straight and shoulders squared displaying confidence but her small pale hands were shaking violently.

"I donna see yee as a servant and nay ever a whore," Breac whispered softly as he inched slowly towards as if approaching a spooked animal.

Tension poured off her in waves yet she still sat there ramrod straight and chin tilted in defiance.

"Yet yee drag me to yee chambre and everywhere yee wish," Elspet replied her voice small yet clear.

Breac dragged a hand through his hair in exasperation, "Yee were cold as ice and not properly dressed for the weather lass!"

"My name is Elspet not lass! And why would yee care sir?" Elspet exclaimed rising from her seat. Breac felt a jolt of admiration for the wee lass; she had guts. Breac knew he was intimating; for most highlanders were and the fact that the lass was defying him seemed to pull him farther into the mystery.

"Now Elspet is that anyway to talk to the Laird's son?"

Breac winced softly as a shrill voice rang through great hall and watched in despair Elspet's fire quickly dissipated and her stance sagged and her eyes suddenly found the floor much more interesting.

Breac turned over his shoulder to find Laird Douglas's daughter approaching them. The lass had flaxen hair braided in a severe braid, she was slight of form and even shorter than Elspet yet she was more filled out. She wore a thick emerald velvet gown the same shade as her small eyes and fur lined leather slippers.

Her look was severe as she gazed at Elspet with distaste before breaking out in a brilliant smile towards Breac.

"Leave wench."

"Yes Lady Mae," Elspet curtsied before exiting the hall quickly her eyes never leaving the floor.

"I'm apologize for the wench's ignorance she will be punished for her misconduct I assure you," Mae addressed Breac moving closer.

Breac shook his head, "Tis not nes-"

"Shush its fine no need to worry about it....?" Mae trailed off at the end raising her brow in question.

"The name's Breac," He supplied stepping back as Mae approached him wanting to keep his distant from the bonnie lass yet finding that goal futile as she continued her descent upon him. She gave a feeling of uneasiness and her affection was quite unwelcomed.

"Breac," Mae practically purred as she trailed a slim finger down his bicep,

"Are all yee Highlanders this..sturdy?" Mae asked seductively.

Breac cringed at the touch when he saw his savior begin to pass the hall.

"Ennis! I've been searching for yee!" Breac called catching the shorter highlanders attention the lad looked at him curiously.

"Why Breac, yee know I'm" Ennis began confused.

"Yes, yes I know im late for our spar,"

Breac cut him off his eyes pleading for rescue.

Breac moved swiftly from Mae striding towards the dark haired warrior. "I'm sorry lass but I must take my leave."

Breac called over his shoulder before making a swift escape with his confused mate.
