Chapter 11

Caitirina~

After a reluctant goodbye, I quickly snuck out of Lorcan’s room, and back to mine. Luckily I didn’t run into anyone on the way. Once I was in the safety of my room I did the only thing I could think of.

“Rane?” I called out softly. “Rane, if you can hear me—Gods I sound crazy—I need your help. Please.”

“Rane?” I called a bit louder. No answer. “What the hell? The least you could have done after kidnapping me is told me how to reach you. Ugh, stupid wizard…”

Suddenly I heard a low laugh. “Wizard? I haven’t been called that in awhile.”

“Rane.” I hissed.

“Calm down, I can’t talk now. What do you need help with?”

“Lorcan and I need some questions answered, and I think all of us can work on this Narishka thing. But we need to all meet.”

“Fine, fine, fine. tomorrow night. Where?”

“His room, it’s the safest.”

He laughed “That should me fun." He muttered.

"What?"

"Nothing, see you then.” I felt whatever connection we just had drop. As if it had literally been hanging in the air.

I stumbled over to my bed, ridding myself of the cloak. And climbed underneath the covers, completely exhausted. I let the darkness of sleep over come me.

This time it was welcome.

October 14th

I awoke to a crash coming from outside my door. I hurriedly climbed out of bed, and opened my door to find Calan sitting on his butt on the other side. Rubbing his head, and cursing at the ceiling.

“Calan! What happened?” I asked. Kneeling down beside him.

“Och, this bloody old ceiling. I was walking down the hallway when I heard a creak, like someone was walking above me, and then a bloody piece of wood fell on m’ head.” I moved his hand, looking at the cut there. Luckily it didn’t look too bad. Calan waved my hands away. “Leave it be lass, I’ve got a hard head.”

“If you’re sure…”

“Aye lass, I’m fine.” He stood up, then helped me to my feet. “Sorry for disturbing ye lass, I’ll be seeing ye at breakfast.” He picked up the piece of wood, and started to walk down the hallway.

“Calan?” I called. He turned.

“Aye lass?”

“What’s up there?”

“Just an old loft. No ones been up there in quite awhile.”

“Oh.” I replied. Wondering what exactly was up there.

“See ye later lass.”

“Yes, later.” I said absently, staring up at the ceiling. I felt a…presense, up there. Wait. A presence? I was going insane. “Wait!” I called out to him.

“Aye?” He replied as he turned back to me.

“How do you get up there?” I asked.

“There’s a few scuttle holes about. Why? There’s nothing much up there, actually we’ve been meaning to have someone clean it up a bit so we could use it for something.”
