HAPPILY EVER AFTER

CH. 28 NO MORE BABY

During the night Joey had started cramping in her stomach and went to the bathroom to find that she was bleeding. Without thinking he started hollering for Pacey.

Pacey ran into the bathroom to see what was wrong. He stopped in his track when he seen the blood in Joey's undies.

"Jo get cleaned up and I'll get Jr. ready. We're going to the emergency room." Joey cleaned herself up and met Pacey in the living room. "Are you ok Jo? How are you feeling?" "My stomach is cramping she said through tears and I'm scared Pace."

Pacey grabbed her elbow in one hand while the other one was holding sleeping Jr. He put the baby into his car seat then he helped Joey get settled in the front passenger seat.

Pacey let Joey out at the front entrance of the emergency room so that she wouldn't have far to walk and he went to park.

After he parked to got the car seat out and made his way to Joey. Joey was standing at the counter talking to the receptionist when he came in. Pacey walked up beside her and started rubbing her back in a comforting way. As soon as Joey explained what was going on they took her to the back.

Pacey had sat the car seat on the chair in the room and now was standing by Joey who was lying on the hospital bed holding her hand. When the  doctor came in Pacey sat the car seat on the floor and sat down in the chair.

"Well hello there young lady, my nurse here explained what's going on. We'll have to examine you to see what's actually going on." Then he turned to Pacey and said "young man can you step outside while we examine your wife?" "Yes sir", Pacey said. Then he said "Jo we'll be right outside as he picked up the car seat and left the room.

"Sir you can go back in the room with your wife." The receptionist said to Pacey.

Pacey knew it was bad news that he was about to hear because Joey was laying there crying when he walked in. He sat the car seat back on the seat and went to Joey. "Pace we lost the baby. The doctor said I was about 8 weeks. With tears in his eyes he put his arms around Joey and let her cry on his shoulder.

"It will be ok Jo" he said trying his best to comfort her and not let her see that he too was hurting.

When the nurse came back in with Joey's discharge papers, Pacey had calmed Joey down but he had to sign the papers for because she was still too upset.

After Pacey had her and the baby back in the truck. He sat there at the steering wheel looking out at the night. Then he turned to Joey and said " Jo just because we aren't pregnant doesn't mean that I don't want to marry as soon as possible. When someone calls you my wife, I want it to be real. Just so you know, I was looking forward to this baby as much as you were and it hurts like hell."

Joey reached for his hand and said "Pace I want us to get married too."
