When I was a child, I used to think the monsters Mom used to tell me in her fairytale stories were scary. But now that I've seen the real world, I've realized humans are much scarier. There's an evil king turning innocent people into demons, villages literally dying from lack of resources, and the only way to solve this is an eighteen year old girl who doesn't even know her real identity yet. When Poland is partitioned 8 year old Zofia has her life upended. She is cautioned from speaking her native language, her neighbors Catholic and Jewish alike are disappearing in the middle of the night. However, when all seems to be lost her faith is the one comfort that can't be stolen from her.

The year is 2398, and finally, Artificial Intelligence took over the world on its first attempt. They rebuilt the world from the ground up, destroying any establishments previously made by humans. The robotic rule didn't last for long, not until a few humans decided to quarrel with the major energy source. After successfully destroying it, it went off in a colorful explosion, eliminating the rebels in return. Now, the world was empty. The robots gradually shut down, and with no humans on Earth, the planet became barren of any intelligent life. Not until SRD comes in.
