He Proposes
Literally the longest preference I’ve ever written, and also my favorite. I’m currently on an overload of feels from this one.
Niall: You smiled and grabbed Niall’s hand as you led him around your childhood home. The two of you had been dating for five years, and although Niall had been to your house plenty of times before, he still couldn’t seem to get an understanding of the layout. You giggled as he stumbled into the living room, looking over at you confused and saying, “I thought this was the kitchen!?” You laugh as he stumbles over your old toy box, stationed in the corner of the room. He knocks it over, and you go to pick up the items and put them back where they belong. "Wow," you murmur, "this brings back a lot of memories." Niall smiles at you as you pick up a box of chalk. His eyes light up as he catches sight of the item. "Hey!" he says grabbing it out of your hand, "lets go play with this outside!" Before you have a chance to answer, he runs outside, or where he thinks is outside (he just manages to lock himself in the closet.) "(y/n), help!" he yells, and you start laughing so hard your sides hurt. You finally manage to compose yourself, and get up to help him out. "That was scary." he says, giving you a hug. "I think you should lead us outside now." he says, and you grab his hand and chuckle, pulling him over to the proper door. You spread the worn-down chalk out on the driveway, and get down on your hands and knees to begin coloring, as Niall joins you. "(y/n)," he says, "Lets play a game! We each have to draw a picture, and neither one of us can look at it until we’re both done, and then we rate the other one’s picture on a scale of 1-10.” you giggle at your boyfriend’s cuteness. "Sounds good to me!" you exclaim, and Niall grins. You both begin drawing, you’ve settled on a picture of the sunset, and you can hear Niall scratching the chalk along side the concrete beside you. "No peeking!" he says, and you laugh. "Don’t worry, I’m not a cheater like you. I can feel your eyes on my drawing!” you say jokingly, and after another minute, you complete your drawing. "Ok!" you say, admiring your work. "Are you ready?" "Yes." you hear Niall say, in a more serious manner than what you’re used to from him. You look over at him and gasp. He’s down on one knee, holding a beautiful ring out. On your driveway, he’s written ‘I Love You’ in colorful chalk. You hear him take in a shaky breath. "(y/n)," he starts, "I’ve loved you from the moment I saw you for the first time. These past five years have been the most amazing years of my life, and I know that I want to spend the rest of my life with you. So, (y/n) (y/m/n) (y/l/n), will you marry me?” "Yes!" you say excitedly, as a tear streams down your face. Niall smiles and slips the ring on your finger, and you tackle him in a bear hug. "By the way," you say, looking into Niall’s eyes, "your drawing gets a ten out of ten." He grins broadly, and leans in to give you a passionate kiss.
Liam: You glanced up at the clock in the office you worked at and smiled, seeing that the work day only had five minutes left. Liam had promised you a romantic dinner, and you were pretty excited to have an entire evening to spend with Liam. The clock ticked to 5:30, and you happily grabbed your coat and walked outside to where Liam was waiting for you. He grinned as soon as he caught sight of you, and you ran over to him and wrapped him in a tight hug. "How long have you been waiting here?!" you asked with a laugh. "About an hour." he said sheepishly. You laughed. "I guess you really didn’t want to be late for dinner!" you said, and he grabbed your hand and led you over to his car. "So where are we going?" you asked, and he smiled. "I can’t tell you! It’s a surprise!" he said, and you fake-sighed. "Fine. But I’m watching you Payne.” he grinned and after a few more minutes, you pulled into the back of a building. "This place seems familiar." you said to yourself, as Liam hopped out of the car and opened your door for you, helping you out. "Well, aren’t you a first class gentleman!" you said, giving him a kiss on the cheek, as he fumbled nervously with something in his pocket, and led you into the building. It was completely dark, and you held onto Liam’s arm. He flipped on a switch and you gasped as the large auditorium lit up. It was the set of the X-factor, the place where you and Liam met. "Remember this place? You were working as an assistant to Simon, and I was auditioning as a solo artist.” he said, and you nodded, still a little awe-struck. "It’s so strange seeing it empty." you said, and Liam chuckled a little. "How did you get this place?!" you asked, stunned. "Well, they’re not currently filming here, so I pulled a few strings, and we have the place to ourselves for the night." he said, and you gave him a kiss on the cheek. Liam took your hand and led you out to the center of the stage. He slid down onto his knee and pulled a ring out of his pocket. "(y/n)," he started, "this is the place where a lot of great things happened to me. I met you, the boys, Simon, and this is the place where we had our first date, if you remember.” you giggled, as the memory of sharing a box of pizza with Liam at the side of the stage raced through your mind. "This is the place where I fell in love with you, and the place where I first realized I wanted to spend the rest of my life with you. A lot of memories have been created here, and I was wondering if we could create another here.” he took in a deep breath, and you smiled down at him, tears clouding your vision. "(y/n), would you make me the happiest man in the world? Will you marry me?” You nod, your tears preventing you from speaking. "Yes!" you finally choke out. "Of course I’ll marry you! I love you, Liam!" Liam smiled and slipped the ring on your finger, standing up and leaning in to happily kiss you.
Harry: You hand was perfectly intertwined with Harry’s as you walked down the streets of Paris together. You had been spending the past few days there on a little break, and you’d been enjoying every moment of it. Harry had spent every second completely dedicated to you, and you’d loved spending so much time with him. The sun was slowly setting as you walked over to the Eiffel tower. You sighed. "I wish we didn’t have to leave!" you say, and Harry chuckles. "I’m sorry, love, but we do have to get back to real life at some point." You groan. "No! We can stay here forever, and eat croissants, and be happy!" Harry gives you a kiss. "As lovely as that would be, we both have jobs and families." he says, and you give him puppy dog eyes. "Come on, they’ll get on with out us." Harry starts laughing, and you begin to as well. Harry leads you up to the top of the Eiffel tower. You find that its completely empty, other than a table with a full meal set at it, tons of lit candles and rose petals scattered everywhere. You gasp and look over at Harry shocked. "This must’ve cost you a fortune!" you say, half grateful, and half scolding. He chuckles and leads you over to the table. "You’re worth it." he says, giving you a kiss on the cheek. You and Harry begin eating your food, talking, and just admiring the amazing view. By the time you finish, its night, and stars are scattered across the sky, above the lights that fill the beautiful city. You walk over to the edge, looking out at the sight that practically takes your breath away. "It’s beautiful." you whisper, as Harry walks over, wrapping his arm around your waist. "Just like you." he says, smiling down at you. He reaches into his pocket as he gets down on his knee, taking your hand in his. "(y/n)" he begins, "I need to ask you something. And I’d really like it if you said yes, because it would make me extremely happy. I know that things aren’t always easy, but I promise that as long as I’m alive to do everything in my power to make you happy, and show you just how much I love you. So, (y/n), I was wondering, if you’d be interested in marrying me?” he babbles it out, clearly nervous. You grin and squeeze his hand. "Of course I’ll marry you. I love you, Harry.” At this, Harry grins and slides the ring onto your finger. "Perfect." he murmurs, just before he crashes his lips against yours.
Louis: You yawned and rolled over in bed, reaching for Louis, but finding that he was gone. It was the morning of your fourth anniversary, and in his place, you found a letter. Confused, you sat up and opened the letter. "Good morning, love!" it read. "I’m sorry I had to leave you, but I’ll see you soon! Get in the car and go to this address.” Confused, you threw on a pair of jeans and a t-shirt, and put your hair in a messy bun. You drove over to the location, which turned out to be a chic boutique. You walked up to the front desk, where the woman working immediately recognized you. "You must be (y/n)." she said. You nodded, slightly stunned, and the woman handed you a gorgeous black dress. "I was also instructed to give this to you." she said with a smile, and handed you another letter. You opened it up. "Hey baby! If you’re reading this, you got to the store alright, and you got the dress. Put it on, then head over to this address.” You chuckled as you began to understand what was going on. You walked into the dressing room, changed into the dress, then headed out to the next site. The next place you immediately recognized as Perrie’s address, and the second you entered, you were greeted with a big grin from Perrie. "Ok," she said, "I’m going to do your hair." she demanded, more than asked. You giggled and sat down. "Alright. You have my full cooperation.” you said, and Perrie began doing your hair so that by the end, you had beautiful beach waves cascading around your shoulders. Perrie smiled and put her hands on her hips. "My work is done!" she exclaimed, and handed you another letter. You opened it up. "Hello, love!" it said. "I hope your day has been fun so far. Go to this address now!” you thanked Perrie, and headed on to the next spot. It turned out to be a little florist shop. As soon as you entered, a woman came up to you. "Are you (y/n)?" she asked, pleasantly. "Yes." you said, wondering what Louis had in store now. "Well then, here you go!" she said, handing you a beautiful bouquet of flowers, a box of chocolates, and another letter. "Hi baby! I hope you like the flowers and chocolates. Here’s the next address to go to!” you grin and head on, enjoying the day. You arrive at a little private beach, where Louis is waiting for you in a tux. You smile and run up to him, wrapping him in a tight embrace. "I take it you’ve been enjoying your day?" he says with a laugh. You give him a kiss. “I’ve been loving it.” you say, and he hands you a medium sized box, with another letter. You open the box, just to find another one. You open that box to find another box. After two more layers of boxes, you find a small, red velvet box, which you open to find a beautiful, glistening ring sitting inside. You gasp. "Open the letter." Louis instructs, and you can hear the grin in his voice. "(y/n), I’ve loved you from the moment
I first saw you. You’re beautiful, smart, funny, kind, and simply the most amazing person I’ve ever met. Will you do me the great honor of becoming my wife?” you look over at Louis who is now down on one knee. "Will you, (y/n)? Will you marry me?” you smile. "Of course, Louis. How could I say no, especially after a day like this?” you say, and Louis wraps you in a tight hug, leaning down and gently kissing you.
Zayn: A tear ran down your cheek as you heard the phone in your room ring. You pick it up to hear your best friend’s happy voice on the other end. "Hey (y/n)!" she says cheerily, and you sigh a little. "Hey (y/b/f)." you say back, just wanting to end the conversation so you can go back to sulking and feeling bad for yourself. "What’s wrong?" she says, her tone changing from bright to concerned. At this, you burst out into tears, sobbing into the phone. "It’s Zayn!" you say. "He won’t talk to me, not really, and whenever he does, its only for a second. He won’t even look at me, and the other day I heard him whispering something about me on the phone! I think he’s going to break up with me.” you sob even louder, hearing yourself saying the words making it hurt even more. You hear someone let out a shaky breath, and you look over to your doorway to see Zayn standing in it, looking over at you with tears brimming in his eyes. "I-I have to go," you mutter in the phone, and hang up. Zayn walks over to you and sits down next to you, taking your hands in his. "I’m so sorry, (y/n). I never wanted to hurt you.” he says, and you look into his eyes. "It’s ok. I guess it wasn’t meant to be.” He looks back up at you shocked. "No! I didn’t mean it like that! I mean, I’m sorry, for not talking to you, and making you feel so horrible. Because… I don’t want to ever make you feel upset. I want to make you feel happy, for as long as we’re both alive. (y/n)… I’ve been a nervous wreck for the last two weeks because… I was going to propose.” he takes a small box out of his pocket, and you gasp. "I’ve been too nervous to do it though. I was hoping to wait for a more romantic time, but I guess there’s no time like the present!” he says, and opens up the box to reveal a beautiful ring. "(y/n), would you do me the honor of becoming my wife?" You nod through your tears and lean forward, to give Zayn a long, sweet kiss.
