Chapter 25
Melody POV
I felt myself beginning to wake up, I rolled over and still in my sleepy haze cuddled into the person next to me. I felt their arms wrap around me and pull me closer.
I took a deep breath in and realised Demi was the one holding me. I instantly recognised her scent. It sounds crazy but her scent is so comforting.
I opened my eyes and saw her staring at me. Naturally I blushed and looked away.
"Morning baby girl"
"Good morning Demi"
"Did you sleep ok sweetheart?"
"Yeah, sorry for falling asleep in your bed." I said seriously.
"Hey don't worry about it, you can always sleep in here" she said giving me an extra squeeze.
"Where's Wilmer?"
"He got up a while ago to go look after Millie." She informed me
"Melody?" She said seriously
"Yeah?"
"Can I ask you something?"
I nodded nervously in response.
She sat up in bed with me still in her arms but we were no longer lay down. I was still comfortable though, in her embrace.
"What happened last night? I thought you were going to come get me if you got overwhelmed"
"You were having so much fun. I didn't want to ruin it for you. I was ok, I just panicked a little and went to bed" I explained
"Ok sweetie but in future please tell me. It doesn't matter how much fun I'm having, I'll always be there if you need me."
"I know Demi I'm sorry"
"Don't be sorry bubba, just talk to me" she said, placing loving kisses on my forehead
"What are we doing today?" I asked her
"Well we were going to have a family day but Wilmer wants to see his family that he hasn't seen in a while so he's gonna go there and take Millie with him. I thought we could do something together, is that ok?"
"Yeah sounds good. What are we doing then?"
"First of all I want some cuddles with my Melody and then we could either go shopping, to the beach, to the cinema. Anything really it's up to you" she said happily.
I was more than happy to stay and cuddle with her but I really don't
fancy going anywhere busy and full of people.
"What's the matter sweetie?" Demi softly said, tilting my face to look up at her.
I took a deep breath and prepared myself to ask her something I'd wanted for a long time.
"Demi?"
"What is it baby?"
"Will you help me learn how to read?"
I felt my voice shake with nerves while I spoke.
"I would love to help you. Why don't we go to a library where it will be quiet, there will be books and things for your level as well. I only have picture books for Millie." She smiled
"So you don't mind not going shopping or something?"
"No of course not. I just want to spend some quality time with you" she assured me.
I gave her a big hug as a thank you and I could tell she was smiling. We were interrupted by Wilmer and Millie entering the room.
Millie was giggling away in Wilmer's arms.
"Babe will you watch Millie for a bit while I have a shower?" Wilmer asked
"Sure pass her here" Demi said, holding her arms out for Millie.
Wilmer passed her to Demi and headed into the bathroom.
Millie scrambled up onto Demi's body and lay on top of her. Millie gave Demi an adorable cuddle while Demi put her arms around the both of us. I lay on my side with my head on Demi's chest while Millie lay on her body, also sharing Demi's chest with me.
"I wasn't sure whether she would like sharing me or not but she loves you you know"
I looked at Demi then back at Millie. The tiny two year old giggled and placed her hand on my cheek.
I put my hand over hers and smiled at my new little sister. It's crazy how quickly you can grow to love someone.
Millie soon snuggled back into Demi and started babbling away to herself.
"We better get up and ready sweetheart. Go get dressed and I'll call you for breakfast when I've sorted myself and Millie out." Demi instructed me.
I pulled away from her warm embrace and turned to get out of her huge kingsize bed.
"Wait Melody" she called back
I turned back round to her and she pulled me down for another quick cuddle and covered my face with her affectionate kisses causing me to laugh and wipe my face.
I made my way to my room to get ready for today.
A while later, Demi drove us to the local library and pulled up outside. On the way there she stopped at a supermarket and ran in to get a few things leaving me to wait in the car.
She grabbed the shopping bag and got out of the car.
I joined her and took hold of her hand as I felt a little anxious about being out in public but as soon as Demi gave my hand a little squeeze I instantly felt calmer.
She led me inside and I looked around in amazement. I'd never been in a library before, I can't wait to learn how to read now. I'll never be out of this place, I want to read all of these books.
It was so quiet and peaceful, definitely my kind of place.
"Come on sweetheart" Demi smiled, guiding me over to a table.
"We have to be quiet ok" she whispered.
I smiled and nodded at her.
She emptied the contents of the shopping bag and pulled out a notebook and some girly pens.
"Ok so here's what we're gonna do, first we're gonna get you used to recognising the different letters and what sounds they make when they're together ok. This will help with your writing as well."
I watched her as she started drawing loads of dots on the paper. I was confused.
"Ok so you're gonna join the dots up to form the letters" she explained.
She handed me the pen and I looked up at her nervously.
"It's ok baby girl. You've got to start somewhere and it doesn't matter if you get something wrong it's just me"
I nodded and began forming the letters.
Demi smiled and high fived me when I got good at it.
We stayed there for a good few hours, Demi did various different tasks with me to get me to start improving. We decided to finish off with Demi reading to me, she let me go and pick out a book and she even said she'd sign me up for my own library card. I was sad beside her listening to her soothing voice.
Today has made me realise that I can do anything. I'm now on my way to learning how to read.
It made me realise something.
I want to recover.
Demi can help me.
I've made my mind up, I want help.
"Demi?" I interrupted.
I wanted to tell her now before I lost my nerve.
"Hmm what is it sweetie?"
She placed the book down and turned to face me.
"I erm, I just"
"Melody take a deep breath and tell me what's on your mind" she soothed
"Nothing's wrong, I just want to tell you something"
I could feel my voice shaking.
"Go ahead baby it's ok"
"I want to get better. I want to recover" I admitted
Demi's mouth fell open but she soon recovered from the shock and a huge smile spread across her face.
"I'm gonna help you baby girl I promise. You can do it" she said happily.
Tears welled up in her eyes.
"I'm so proud of you. I love you Melody." She smiled, pulling me onto her lap.
She placed loving kisses all over my face and I had to try and laugh quietly.
"What's made you decide to do this bubba?" She asked, squeezing me in a hug.
"Today's been one of the best days I've ever had. I want lots more like this. I want to stay happy" I admitted
"Then we'll get you through it. It will be hard baby but I'll be beside you the entire way."
"I know. Thank you Demi"

I know I've not updated in forever but I'm doing a degree, I've got a job, I've got a girlfriend and it's so hard trying to find time to write.
