The One At The Grill

Even though the Gilbert girl was determined to find the Forbes vampire and the Lockwood werewolf, she still couldn't help but feel numb as she slowly pushed open the front door of Mystic Grill from the fact that she watched her two best friends get kidnapped by Klaus' witches. It had already been an overly emotional day, so Emily wasn't all that surprised that she didn't feel like her normal and happy self.

Everything in her life seemed like it was all going to shit before it was even beginning, so it was definitely disheartening for the human Petrova doppelganger. Emily's heart was practically broken from witnessing two of the most important people in her life being taken away from her. Emily felt so out of it from everything that has already happened today that she didn't even smile at anyone as she took the first open spot at the bar and only stared straight ahead at the bottles of alcohol while she waited for a bartender to come her way.

"...mily? Emily?" The human Petrova doppelganger, finally, heard as she realized that someone was calling out to her on the right side of her body. The Gilbert girl slowly turned her head to see who wanted her attention before she noticed that she ended up taking a seat right next to Damon and Alaric.

Emily honestly didn't have the energy right now to talk to anyone as she impatiently waited on a bartender to give her her fix of alcohol, so the Gilbert girl only gave her fellow drinking buddies a small nod before she slowly turned back around and faced the row of alcohol that were all calling her name.

The Saltzman teacher worriedly watched the unusually silent Gilbert girl while also confusingly glancing over to the vampire beside him before he finally inquired with his brows pulled together when Emily didn't utter a single word after a full three minutes of them sitting at the bar, "you doing okay?"

Emily didn't want to be bothered right now, so she figured that she would answer her aunt's boyfriend in hopes that he and Damon wouldn't bother her anymore. "Just peachy," the Gilbert girl couldn't help but sarcastically utter as she loudly drummed her point finger against the cherry oak on the bar counter top.

"What are you even doing here?" The annoyed voice of the older Salvatore vampire asked the human girl before Alaric could say anything more. "Shouldn't you being saying your goodbyes?" Damon bitterly questioned as he still wasn't happy with Emily's decision of going along with the original's plan. However, when the Salvatore vampire noticed that the human girl wasn't answering him, Damon egged her on as he taunted her, "what? Cat got your tongue, Princess?"

"Quit it, Damon," the local vampire hunter immediately ordered the vampire that he seemed to call his friend as he was still worried about what was going on with his girlfriend's niece. Alaric ignored the glare that Damon was shooting his way as he focused all of his attention on the Gilbert girl. "Did something happen, Emily?" The Saltzman teacher inquired as he had never seen the human Petrova doppelganger in a state like this.

The older Salvatore didn't give the Gilbert girl a chance to respond to the vampire hunter's question as he instantly released a loud and annoyed scoff. "Who cares," Damon bitterly muttered before he glared his blue irises over at the silent human Petrova doppelganger and continued in that same bitter voice, "she's the one that decided to trust Elijah over her own family."

The Gilbert girl swiftly turned her neck to face Damon so fast that she thought that she broke her neck as she glared at the vampire like a fierce lion. "I am doing this for my family," Emily angrily snapped from the fact that the vampire couldn't understand why she was doing all of this. The Gilbert girl had to force herself to take a deep breath to calm down before she quietly added as she thought about her two best friends and how she failed them, "but I'm not exactly doing a good job."

The Salvatore vampire instantly rolled his blue eyes while he ignored the second part of Emily's sentence as he figured that she was just being dramatic or looking for sympathy. "Oh, yeah, right," Damon muttered in annoyance before he, once again, glared at the Gilbert girl as he exclaimed in a rant about how he basically felt about this plan of hers, "if you were doing this for us, you would't be going along with some witchy mojo crap. You wouldn't just accept this and your death. You would fight!"

This time, Emily couldn't hold in her anger any longer as she snapped underneath her breath while she squeezed her green eyes closed when she felt the warm tears clouding her irises, "oh, fuck you, Damon!" The Gilbert girl briefly shook her head as she tried to get control of her emotions before she looked over to the bitter vampire with a softness but still fierceness to her green irises.

"I'm doing this because I love you guys so much that I don't want anyone to die," Emily tried to explain herself for the hundredth time today. The Gilbert girl shot the vampire a small smile as she murmured, "I trust this plan. You're just scared, Damon - and I understand that, but you have to trust that I know what I'm doing."

Damon instantly shook his head in denial to what the Gilbert girl wanted from him. "I'm not going to be okay with you dying, ever!" The Salvatore vampire snapped in frustration from the fact that Emily wasn't understanding what he was saying. Damon tightly grabbed ahold of the human girl's wrist before he, once again, tried to get through to his girlfriend's sister, "we can fight this and we can keep everyone safe."

Emily bitterly released a small chuckle that was anything but humorous as she recalled how she had tried to keep everyone safe but that didn't help her two best friends. "We can't," the Gilbert girl mumbled as she knew there was no way around protecting everyone when it was so easy for Klaus to grab the Forbes vampire and the Lockwood werewolf.

The Saltzman teacher couldn't help but immediately furrow his brows at the Gilbert girl's words. "What do you mean?" Alaric confusingly inquired before he commented with a tint of worry for the human Petrova doppelganger ringing all throughout his voice, "I thought the plan was working out. I-I thought everything was ready for tonight."

Emily kept her green eyes locked onto the rows of alcohol for a solid two minutes as she tried to get control of her emotions before she faced her two fellow drinking buddies with tears clouding her green irises while she slowly shook her head. "Klaus too-" the Gilbert girl had began to tell the duo about the kidnapping of her two best friends.

However, before Emily could even tell them about what the hybrid had done, she was all too soon interrupted by an unfamiliar voice. "Now, sweetheart, don't go telling all of my secrets," Klaus, in his original body, told his doppelganger as he slowly walked towards the trio with a smirk lazily playing on his plump and pink lips.

The Gilbert girl couldn't help but furrow her brows at the unfamiliar voice calling her by a pet name, so she slowly turned around to see who was bothering her on a very emotional day. Emily's green eyes instantly widened in shock, though, when she realized that she knew who was standing in front of her without him even saying his name.

It felt like flashes of memories flipped through Emily's mind as she stared across at the man, who she remembered having dreams about at the beginning of the year when the Salvatore brothers arrived in Mystic Falls. The Gilbert girl had never really thought much of it at the time because she would just see his face in the background of her dreams, so Emily never thought it was important until she was staring into his dark blue-green eyes that she could see they held so much evilness in them that Emily thought she was staring right at Lucifer.

"K-Klaus," the Gilbert girl finally gasped out once her mind finally put all the pieces together - which immediately caused for her drinking buddies to tense before the Salvatore vampire twitched closer to Emily encase he had to rush her out of Mystic Grill if the feared hybrid tried anything to take her away.

Klaus' smirk instantly widened from his doppelganger uttering his name. "You did always know when I was around," the hybrid mused as he lifted his hand and pushed a portion of Emily's brown hair behind her right ear as he recalled how the Gilbert girl was the first one to realize when he was inside of the vampire hunter's body.

Emily, despite how nervous she was right now, immediately pushed Klaus' hand away from her face before she snapped, "don't touch me." The Gilbert girl knew her action were quite stupid, especially against the feared hybrid, but she couldn't stand the sight of Klaus from what he made his witches do to her best friends. But, unknown to the Gilbert girl, it also had to deal with the doppelganger connection that she shares with Darina, who absolutely hated Klaus.

"Ooh," the feared hybrid cooed with a wide smirk still adoring his lips - despite the fact that the human girl had swatted at his hand. "My doppelganger is quite feisty, huh?" Klaus mused as he twitched his head to the side while he continued to stare across at Emily. "This is going to be fun," the original commented in amusement as he could see that Petrova fire in the Gilbert girl.

The Salvatore vampire had finally reached his limit after watching the hybrid tease his girlfriend's sister as if he wasn't playing with her life. Damon released a threatening growl as he swiftly stood up from his wooden stool and protectively stood slightly in front of Emily. "Any reason you stopped by to say hi?" The Salvatore vampire tensely questioned the hybrid.

Klaus carelessly shrugged his shoulders after he continued to stare at Emily for a solid three minutes before he focused his blue-green eyes onto the other vampire. "I'm told your brother fancy my lovely doppelganger, here," the hybrid stated what they, obviously, all knew before he warned Damon with a threatening step closer to the vampire, "just thought I'd remind you to not do anything you'll regret."

Damon shot the feared hybrid a large, sarcastic smile that lasted for a full minute before the Salvatore vampire released an unamused chuckle. "Ha, thanks for the advice," Damon muttered. The blue eyed vampire placed his hand protectively onto the Gilbert girl's shoulder from beside him before Damon curiously asked the hybrid, "I don't suppose I could talk you into a postponement, by any chance, huh?"

Damon knew if they just had more time, then they could come up with a better plan than what Emily wanted to do with all the witchy mojo potion from Elijah - at least then they would know for sure that Emily would come back to them.

The feared hybrid instantly released a loud and throaty chuckle that lasted for a full two minutes. However, when Klaus realized that the younger vampire was being serious, a straight line lifted onto his face before he questioned, "you are kidding?" Klaus didn't even wait to hear Damon's response as he looked over to his doppelganger and his former body before he asked them as well, "he is kidding, right?"

The resident vampire hunter slowly shook his head while a heavy sigh slipped through his lips. "No," Alaric muttered out as he answered the feared hybrid's question, "not really."

Emily also added her input as she mumbled while she shot the blue eyed vampire a silent glare, "I'm afraid not." The Gilbert girl hoped and prayed that Damon wouldn't try anything with the hybrid right now. There was just so much already on her plate that she didn't need to be worrying that her boyfriend's brother was going to do something that could cause his death as well.

"I mean, come on," the Salvatore vampire continued to try, despite the two glares that he was getting from his fellow drinking buddies, before he asked the hybrid to hopefully convince Klaus to not complete the sacrifice tonight, "what's one month in the whole grand scheme of things?"

The feared hybrid's amused smirk instantly turned into an angry glare as Damon continued to go on and on. However, once the younger vampire, finally, stopped talking, Klaus took a threatening step closer to Damon - which caused him to be almost chest to chest with his doppelganger - before Klaus uttered as he counted off on his fingers, "let me be clear, I have my vampire. I have my werewolf."

Klaus paused in his speech as he glanced over to his doppelganger with a wide smirk lifting onto his plump, pink lips before he murmured, "thank you for that, by the way." The original hybrid slowly lifted up his hand and bumped his point finger against his doppelganger's chin before he apologized in amusement, "I'm sorry to have interrupted your moment with the wolf but it's just business, sweetheart."

Emily immediately brushed off the hybrid's long and rough fingers away from her face with a fierce glare settled in her green irises at the mention of her best friends. "I swear to everything that is Holy, I will stab you if you touch them," the Gilbert girl snapped. Emily knew that she was probably speeding up her death by threatening Klaus but she honestly didn't care when it was her best friends' lives on the line.

The feared hybrid couldn't help the loud and amused chuckle that slipped through his plump and pink lips. The human girl's action would have usually pissed him off if someone else had done it. However, watching Emily hit him, only caused for Klaus to be amused as the human girl reminded him of a little sunflower who couldn't do any harm no matter how threatening she tried to be.

"You are no doubt a Petrova," the original hybrid mused. Emily - despite the fact that she did remind him of a little sunflower - did have that Petrova fire in her. She was a mixture of both Darina (protective and innocent) and Katherine (fierce and cunning), in Klaus' opinion from what he had seen in the vampire hunter's body and from what he has heard about his doppelganger.

Klaus watched the Gilbert girl's angry expression for a moment in amusement before he turned his attention back onto the younger vampire and his threat. "I have everything I need," the feared hybrid continued to where he left off before he stated, "the ritual will happen tonight." Klaus shot the Salvatore a threatening glare as he warned him, "so, if you want to live to see tomorrow, don't even think about screwing it up."

The original hybrid kept his blue-green gaze settled onto the younger vampire and his former body as he shot them a sarcastic grin before Klaus focused his attention solely onto his doppelganger. "I'll see you very soon, sunflower," Klaus murmured with a small smirk playing on his lips before he slowly began to walk backwards to the front door of Mystic Grill.

"What is he talking about?" Alaric hurriedly and equally as worriedly questioned the Gilbert girl after he had watched the feared hybrid, finally, exit out of the local restaurant and had turned and faced Emily with his brows pulled together. Alaric remembered the last time that they had a werewolf in Mystic Falls and he definitely didn't want to have to go through that again.

Emily kept her green irises locked on the front door that Klaus had just exited out of as she mumbled out what she had tried to tell the vampire and the vampire hunter before she had been interrupted by the hybrid, "it's Ty. He has Caroline and Tyler." The Gilbert girl felt like something snapped inside of her from officially meeting Klaus and that she had do something for her best friends after staring the devil in the eye.

Emily couldn't let Tyler and Caroline have to deal with the feared hybrid, so she planned on finding them before the full moon rose to its highest peak and Klaus could hurt them. The Gilbert girl didn't know where to look but she did know they weren't hidden somewhere in Mystic Grill, so Emily quickly turned and faced her fellow drinking buddies as she hurriedly exclaimed, "I-I have to go."

The Gilbert girl fixed her black purse on her shoulder before she glanced between the vampire and the vampire hunter with a slight nervous tick as she bit down on her bottom lip from what she was about to do. However, before she could leave, Emily knew that she needed her fellow drinking buddies to do something for her first. "Please tell Stefan that I needed to run to the store for something," Emily begged as she knew that Stefan wouldn't allow her to look for her best friends - especially when she was supposed to be meeting him soon.

The Saltzman teacher instantly furrowed his brows at this new piece of information. However, Alaric decided to ignore the fact that two of his students were supposed to be used in the sacrifice tonight as he focused solely onto his girlfriend's niece. "Wait," Alaric called out before he questioned in confusion as to why Emily wanted him to tell the younger Salvatore something that was most likely a lie, "where are you going?"

The Gilbert girl, once again, bit down on her bottom lip as she stared at her fellow drinking buddies before Emily decided to just tell them the truth. "I need to stop this," Emily confessed with a heavy sigh following a few seconds later. The Gilbert girl shook her head before she muttered with an air of confidence, nervousness, and determination, "I won't let my best friends die because of me."

Emily knew that the duo would try to fight her on this - like her boyfriend and sister would - so she swiftly turned around to head out of Mystic Grill. However, what Emily wasn't counting on - when she really should have - was for the Salvatore vampire to quickly block her way as he wrapped his long and cold fingers around her upper arm.

"I don't think so, Princess," Damon exclaimed in a growl as he glared down at the human girl in front of him when he realized what was turning inside her head.

Emily tried to fight the blue eyed vampire's hold for a solid three minutes before she released a loud groan filled with nothing but frustration from the fact that Damon wouldn't let her go. "Damon!" The Gilbert girl finally snapped with tears clouding her green irises before she angrily exclaimed, "I need to do this!"

The Salvatore vampire shook his head as he moved his cold hands to rest on top of Emily's black coat covered shoulders. "I can't let you do that," Damon uttered in a gentler tone as he tried to get through to the obviously emotional Gilbert girl. "I can't believe you are trusting that original with your life," Damon began in a bitter voice before he stated with an oddly serious expression glued onto his face, "but I will not let you put your life in even more danger by going after them."

The Gilbert girl honestly felt so damn exhausted from everything going wrong today that she couldn't help but softly cry. "They are my family. I need to save them," Emily exclaimed through her warm tears that were trailing down her reddened face. Emily just felt so drained right now that after she had finished her sentence, that she ended up placing her forehead onto Damon's cold chest while she continued to sob for her missing best friends.

Damon instantly wrapped his arm around the human girl's shoulders and began to run his fingers through Emily's hair on instinct before a heavy sigh slipped through his lips from how emotional Emily was on possibly the worst day of her life. Stupid soft spot, Damon swore to himself as he let the Gilbert girl cry onto his shoulder for a few minutes. Emily had to be one of the two people in his life that he would let ruin his designer shirt - the other, of course, being his girlfriend.

Damon stood there while the Gilbert girl got control of her emotions but once he felt Emily's shoulders stop shaking, the Salvatore vampire leaned down until his mouth was right next to her left ear. "I'll do it," the Salvatore vampire quietly promised.

Emily hurriedly pulled her head away from the Salvatore vampire's chest with a look of surprise in her teary green irises. "Really?" The Gilbert girl questioned as she couldn't believe what she was hearing from Damon - the fact that he would go and save both Caroline and Tyler - two people who he wasn't exactly fond of.

Damon instantly rolled his blue eyes as he muttered in annoyance, "don't go all mushy on me, Princess." The Salvatore vampire looked down into Emily's green irises for a moment to let her know that he would actually do it before he voiced his promise to her, "but, yes. I'll go save Barbie and Lon Chaney Jr for you if it keeps you out of trouble."

Damon would rather be any place in the world than to be looking for the supernatural teenagers but if it kept the Gilbert girl safe and alive then he was willing to search all through Mystic Falls for the girl who he saw as his own little sister.

Emily couldn't help the loud sigh of relief that escaped through her lips from the Salvatore vampire's promise. "Thank you, Damon," the Gilbert girl voiced her praise out loud. However, though, before Emily could say anything more about how this all meant to her, she was soon interrupted when her cell phone decided to ring.

Emily huffed out a small sigh before she took a small step away from her sister's boyfriend and pulled her cell phone out of her coat - where she noticed that she had a text message from Stefan that said he was outside of the Grill. The Gilbert girl anxiously bit down on her bottom lip as she stared at the message. It wasn't that she didn't want to spend time with her boyfriend - oh, my God, did she ever - but she wanted to be there to help Damon find her two best friends.

The Gilbert girl continued to stare at her cell phone for a full three minutes before Damon ended up ordering after watching the conflict on Emily's face, "go be with Stefan." The blue eyed vampire gave the anxious girl an assuring nod before he promised, once more, "I'll handle this."

Emily nervously stared up into the Salvatore vampire's blue eyes for a moment before she finally nodded her head. It wasn't that she didn't think Damon could do it. It was just she wanted to be there for her best friends. However, Emily knew that it was probably best for Damon to handle it this time - especially with Stefan currently waiting on her.

"Thank you for this," Emily showed her praise, once more, before she warned her boyfriend's brother, "but please be careful and don't get yourself killed." The Gilbert girl would absolutely hate herself if something were to happen to Damon when this rescue mission was her idea.

The Salvatore vampire amusingly rose his right eyebrow at the Gilbert girl's obviously worried words for him before Damon teasingly questioned, "why? You care about me?"

Emily instantly rolled her green irises at the vampire in front of her before she exclaimed with a tone of annoyance, "of course I care about you, asshat." The Gilbert girl lightly shrugged her shoulders as if it was nothing before she explained, "you're my sister's boyfriend but you are also my friend." Emily pointed her finger at the blue eyed vampire as she concluded, "so, please, be careful, Damon."

The human Petrova doppelganger ended up doing something that definitely surprised herself and Damon as she leaned up and placed a light kiss onto the Salvatore vampire's cheek before she swiftly turned around and made her way through the crowd in Mystic Grill. Emily honestly felt like a nervous wreck, so her action was like a silent good luck to Damon that he would successfully rescue the Lockwood werewolf and the Forbes vampire.

Emily hated not being able to help save her two best friends, so the only thing that she, sadly, could do was pray that the older Salvatore vampire would be able to get to Caroline and Tyler in time before the sacrifice along with hope that Damon wouldn't end up getting hurt in the process of saving them from the feared hybrid.
