Emily Gilbert easily and carelessly strolled around downtown Mystic Falls as if she didn't have a care in the world while she glanced at the familiar people and the familiar buildings - when, in fact, that was far from the truth with her looming witch status and death waiting for her.

It had been quite an emotional day for the Petrova doppelganger on her last day as a human. After Emily had told her boyfriend that she wanted to say goodbye to everyone - just encase everything didn't go their way - the Gilbert girl had taken her aunt out for brunch at Mo's Mystic Spot that served the best chocolate chip pancakes in all of Mystic Falls, Virginia.

The strawberry blonde woman already knew about everything that was going to happen tonight from what her nieces and Alaric had told her, so Emily and Jenna just spoke as if there wasn't a sacrifice happening in a few short hours. The aunt and niece duo just chatted about their favorite memories together and only enjoyable and happy topics like their favorite movies, new released songs, and different moments in their lives that had them laughing from their favorite memories.

There was a few tears every now and again whenever Jenna or Emily couldn't help but suddenly remember what was going to happen tonight and what it would mean for the human Petrova doppelganger. However, the orange and blueberry mimosas along with the warm chocolate chip pancakes definitely helped and made it a very happy outing for the aunt and niece duo.

Emily ended up staying with her favorite strawberry blonde for as long as she could but when it reached the second hour mark, the Gilbert girl, sadly, had to say goodbye to her aunt as she still had a few more people who she needed to see before the full moon. The human Petrova doppelganger ended up dropping Jenna off at the Gilbert residence - since she was the one who drove from the Salvatore boarding house - before Emily headed over to the old witch house where her brother and her witchy best friend were staying for the time being.

It had been a little bit creepy for Emily to be at the location of where a hundred witches had died - especially when their voices had kept popping into her head. It ended up becoming a bit too much that the Gilbert girl, Jeremy, and Bonnie moved and sat out on the old witch house's porch, so Emily could actually hear herself think.

The gathering of her youngest sibling and her best friend, immediately went more smoothly once the witches had stopped yelling in her head about different topics that she didn't really understand most of the time. It was hard for Emily to comprehend what the deceased witches were saying, but the one thing that did get repeated the most was some type of Hebrew prophecy for the Protectors of the Innocence. It completely confused Emily since she knew that she was the last Protectors of the Innocence, but the Gilbert girl decided to not worry about some ancient prophecy when today was about saying goodbye.

So, instead of worrying about something that probably didn't mean anything for her ears, Emily focused on her youngest sibling and her best friend. However, unlike with Jenna, the three teenagers did talk about the looming sacrifice that was only hours away. Jeremy had wanted to know everything that his sister had found out from the original - since he and Bonnie had been mostly in the dark about what was happening - so Emily spent half of her time explaining all about how she was supposed to become this strong witch.

The topic of becoming a witch then lead into the Gilbert and Bennett best friends to spend the rest of their time together talking about what would happen to Emily once she would become a member of the supernatural world. Bonnie also went into detail about how it felt to be a witch from her own experience before she made a promise to help Emily through her transition as best as she could.

Emily spent a good two hours explaining everything that she had recently learned to Jeremy and talking about being a witch with Bonnie but she also spoke about the good in their lives. The Gilbert girl didn't want her last human moment with her youngest sibling and one of her best friends to be all about business, so Emily also shared a few laughs with the duo about their childhood and happy memories.

Sadly, though, when the Gilbert girl received a text message from her twin sister and noticed that it was already ten in the morning, Emily decided to say her goodbyes as she knew that there was still a few people who she needed to say her farewells to before she was supposed to meet up with her boyfriend. It took close to about ten to fifteen minutes of Bonnie and Jeremy saying goodbye to her before Emily had to force herself to leave to meet up with her twin before she got too emotional again.

The Gilbert girl ended up meeting Elena at the local movie theater in town at the request of the Gilbert vampire like the text message at mentioned. Emily was pleasantly surprised and equally happy, though, when Elena told her that they would be watching their favorite movie - Scream - at one of their favorite places growing up.

It meant a lot to Emily to spend some alone time with her twin sister while watching their comfort movie - after Elena had compelled the employee to play the old film. It felt like everything was alright for those one hour and fifty-one minutes as the Gilbert twins practically clung to each other while they shared a bag of Hershey Kisses. It made Emily feel like everything would be alright - despite everything that was going on right now - and Emily definitely needed that today.

Now, though, the human Petrova doppelganger was currently on her way to see the last important person in her life and one of her best friends - Caroline Forbes. The blonde vampire had texted Emily right after she had said her very emotional goodbye with her twin sister to meet at Mystic Park - where they used to go when they were small kids.

Emily took a quick pause and a deep breath once she finally spotted Mystic Park as she tried to stay calm after the emotional day that she has had with her loved ones. The Gilbert girl knew that saying goodbye to her bestest friend was going to be a close second to saying goodbye to her twin sister - even though she knew that she would most likely come back to life.

However, Emily knew it was so emotional for her because she was still afraid that she wouldn't be herself after the sacrifice as a witch. The Gilbert girl just felt deep inside that something was going to happen to her and it scared Emily so damn much that she actually felt that this would be the last happy memory with her loved ones. Emily knew her boyfriend promised that he would make sure that she didn't go crazy but Emily still couldn't help but think about all the bad and wrong things that could happen. It was just this feeling that she felt that just wouldn't go away.

"OOF!" The Gilbert girl gasped out when she suddenly felt a tight hold around the back of her head and her shoulders along with pulling her out of her thoughts. Emily only had a second to panic that it was Klaus before she smelled the familiar Chanel Chance that her best friend always wore before the brunette girl tightly wrapped her arms around Caroline's waist with a sigh of relief that she didn't know she was holding in.

"Oh, Emmie," the Forbes vampire mumbled as she pressed her face into the shorter girl's strawberry scented brunette hair while she tightened her hold onto her best friend as if that would stop the tears from building in her blue eyes.

"It's going to be okay," Emily softly promised to her best friend as she also tightened her hold around the vampire's waist but just not as tightly as the supernatural being. Emily honestly felt like she was being pushed into the blonde's chest by how tight Caroline was holding her but Emily didn't mind when she knew that Caroline needed this right now.

"I don't want you to go," Caroline mumbled as she closed her blue eyes with her chin resting onto her best friend's temple. The Forbes vampire absolutely hated what was going on right now. She had been filled in with what was going on only a few hours ago from Stefan and it broke her heart to know what her best friend would have to go through tonight. "M-Maybe I can kidnap you and take you to Mexico," Caroline quietly suggested after a moment had settled between them as she felt she just had to do something.

The highly emotional Gilbert girl couldn't help but immediately burst out into laughter at her best friend's suggestion. Emily slowly pulled herself out of the Forbes vampire's hold before she smiled brightly at her best friend with amusement shining throughout her green irises. "You know we can't do that, Care," the Gilbert girl softly murmured before she uttered what they all knew, "Klaus would just follow me until he got his way."

The Forbes vampire titled her head up so she was staring at the bright white clouds in the sky while she tried to keep her frustrated tears at bay. "This sucks," Caroline mumbled while she could feel the warm tears blocking her vision as she thought about the possibility of losing the most important person in her life.

The Gilbert girl reached across and tightly grabbed ahold of her best friend's hand before she quietly agreed, "I know, Care Bear." The human Petrova doppelganger gave the blonde vampire's hand a small squeeze to gain her attention before Emily shot her best friend a comforting smile. "We're going to be okay, though," Emily stated as she tried to assure the Forbes vampire before she added with a small chuckle, "I'm just going to die for a bit then I'll be right back."

"Don't joke about that," Caroline immediately begged as she frustratingly wiped the tears that were constantly trailing down her cold cheeks. "I can't stand the idea of not having my best friend in my life for even a second," the Forbes vampire mumbled as she hurriedly shook her head as if that would stop Emily from being taken from her tonight.

"Oh, Care," the Gilbert girl cooed as she felt her heart break at the sight of her best friend. "I'm sorry," Emily apologized as she squeezed the blonde vampire's hand before she explained herself, "but you know this is how I handle my stress." The human Petrova doppelganger lightly shrugged her coat-covered shoulders before she joked with the tiniest of smiles playing on her lips, "humor is my only defense."

Caroline, however, didn't find that to be the slightest bit true as she exclaimed, "shut up!" The Forbes vampire lightly giggled at Emily's widened green eyes before she stated with a soft smile shining across her pink lips, "you are amazing. You stand up for your loved ones and face off against some of the strongest vampires on a daily basis." Caroline slowly shook her head as she gave her best friend's hand a small squeeze before she continued to express herself, "humor is not your only defense. You are so strong and badass like all the time - and you're my hero, Emmie."

The Gilbert girl couldn't help but immediately blush beet red from Caroline's praising of her and, of course, Emily ruined the moment as she pushed against the blonde vampire's hard shoulder. "Alright," Emily exclaimed with an embarrassed chuckle, "you are the one that needs to shut up now." The human Petrova doppelganger lightly shrugged her shoulders when Caroline gave her a pointed look before she stated, "I just do what is right. It's nothing important like you are making it out to be. I just do what I can as a human."

"Bull crap!" The Forbes supernatural being practically screeched - which caused a few parents with their children to glare over at her. Caroline ignored the families, though, as she told her best friend, "you have saved me - a vampire - more times than I can count." The blonde vampire smiled brightly at Emily as she confessed, "you are who I strive to be as a person. Someone who doesn't even think twice about running into danger for her loved ones." Caroline shot the human girl a small smirk before she exclaimed, "you're my hero, so shut up and let me appreciate and love you."

Emily shook her head with an amused chuckle slipping through her lips at the way that her best friend was pouting at her. "Alright, fine," the Gilbert girl exclaimed as she silently promised that she wasn't going to argue with the Forbes vampire anymore on the matter. Emily just wasn't big on being praised when she was only doing what she thought was right but she would let Caroline have this for today.

"Good," Caroline cheered with her mouth stretched into a wide smile and her shiny white pearls fully on display before she exclaimed with a cheeky grin, "because I was just about to smother you with my love if you didn't agree with how amazing and important you are to all of us."

The Gilbert girl let a small and embarrassed groan escape through her lips at the continued praise and the burning blush to her cheeks. Emily didn't like the attention that she was getting as it just felt like it wasn't important when anyone would do the same as her, so the human Petrova doppelganger tried to move away from her 'heroism' actions as she sarcastically exclaimed with her own grin, "oh, we wouldn't want that."

The two best friends of the Gilbert girl and the Forbes vampire chuckled for a short moment before all sounds came to a stop, except for the people walking around Mystic Park, as they stared at one another in a calm silence. The tranquility lasted for a full two minutes before Caroline mumbled with a frown to her pink lips, "I don't want to let you go." The Forbes vampire squeezed her best friend's hand before she continued, "you're my sister. This is going to kill me."

"Oh, Care," the Gilbert girl mumbled as she felt her heart, once again, immediately break at the blonde vampire's words. The Gilbert girl hated that Caroline felt like she was suffering, so Emily did the only thing that she could as she pulled her best friend into another tight embrace. "Everything is going to work out," Emily promised as she rested her forehead onto the taller girl's shoulder.

The two best friends stayed in that spot for a few calm minutes as they comforted and embraced one another before Emily slowly pulled away with a wide grin pulled onto her lips. "We're sisters," the human Petrova doppelganger stated the obvious about what she saw Caroline as before the brunette girl teasingly told the blonde vampire, "you can't get rid of me that easily."

Caroline instantly released a chuckle with her own grin shining across her pink lips that was filled with nothing but love for the shorter girl across from her. "I'll never want to get rid of you," the Forbes vampire assured the Gilbert girl before she exclaimed, "we're stuck together forever."

Emily couldn't help the wide smile that rose onto her face from her best friend's words before she softly murmured, "I wouldn't have it any other way." The Gilbert girl didn't even have to say anything to Caroline once the park grew silent before the two girls, once again, came together for one more tight embrace that showed all the love that they had for one another.

The Gilbert girl and the Forbes vampire stayed in that position as the two best friends absorbed the other's comfort before Emily slowly peeled herself from Caroline with a small sigh. "I should get going," Emily mumbled, even though it was the last thing that she wanted to do right now, before she explained to the pouting blonde with a sarcastic tone to her words, "I need to meet up with Stef before the moon begins to rise and Klaus comes to collect his prize."

The Forbes vampire couldn't help but frown at her best friend's words like it was something normal for her to be taken by a vampire to die in a sacrifice. However, Caroline knew this was just how the Gilbert girl coped with things, so she didn't comment on it. Instead, Caroline released her own sigh with a pout settled deeply onto her face as it pained her to have to say goodbye to her best friend, her sister when she knew what the human girl was going to go through tonight and Caroline absolutely hated to imagine Emily in pain like that.

The Forbes vampire, however, didn't get to say goodbye to the Gilbert girl, though, when she suddenly remembered for the reason that she had asked Emily to meet out at Mystic Park. "I have something that you need to see first!" Caroline exclaimed before she didn't even give the brunette girl a chance to respond as she swiftly wrapped her cold fingers around Emily's wrist and pulled her further into the vast park of their childhood.

"Care!" The Gilbert girl yelped in surprise when the blonde vampire had her basically running and dodging through the trees as if she was Curious George. "What's going on?" Emily quickly questioned a minute later when she was almost smacked in the face with a large branch that was swinging through the chilly Virginia air while she simultaneously tried to keep up with Caroline's fast footsteps.

The Forbes vampire giggled at the confusion in her best friend's voice. "Just you wait!" Caroline exclaimed with a whole lot of excitement in her voice for the surprise that she had for the Gilbert girl.

Emily couldn't help but roll her green eyes and release a loud groan of annoyance at the fact that the blonde vampire wasn't giving her the answer that she wanted. However, thankfully for the human Petrova doppelganger, Emily's annoyance only lasted a few minutes more of dodging and weaving trees before Caroline finally pulled her to a stop in front of a familiar spot in the middle of the woods at Mystic Park.

The Gilbert girl immediately furrowed her brows after she took a step away from Caroline and slowly walked in a circle in the clearing and she took notice of the old tree where she and Tyler used to always go to when they were feeling upset or needed some comfort from one another. Emily stared across at the oak tree with a frown embedded all across her face as it made her think of her best friend, who had left Mystic Falls to be with his fellow wolves, for the first time in awhile.

It wasn't that Emily didn't miss the Lockwood teenager - she absolutely did - but with everything that has been going on with Klaus, it was hard to focus on anything but all the sacrifices, doppelgangers, and originals. However, now that she was staring at hers and Tyler's meeting spot, Emily couldn't help but miss her best friend more than usual.

The Gilbert girl had to forcefully shake her head after a full solid three minutes had passed to get rid of her saddened thoughts about her missing best friend before she turned around and faced the Forbes vampire. Emily was still confused to why there out this far and how Caroline even knew about this spot in the first place. "What are we d-" the Gilbert girl began to question before her green eyes instantly widened when she saw who was standing next to the blonde vampire.

"Surprise!" The person who Emily had just been thinking about loudly exclaimed with a wide smile pulled onto his lips at the sight of his bestest friend in the world - well, other than Matt, of course.

Emily honestly didn't know when she started running but the next thing that she realized was how tight Tyler was holding onto her waist while she tightened her arms around his warm neck. The human Petrova doppelganger pressed her face into her best friend's equally warm chest as far as she could while she breathed in Tyler's comforting scent.

The woods in Mystic Park was silent for a full two minutes as the two best friends tightly embraced one another before the moment was slightly interrupted by the Forbes vampire. "I'll give you guys a moment," Caroline softly murmured with a gentle smile playing on her lips from watching the sweet interaction between the best friend duo before she silently walked a few feet away.

Emily turned her head to the side, so her right cheek was resting against Tyler's warm chest while the werewolf slowly rubbed his hand down the Gilbert girl's back from underneath her thick coat before the tranquility was, once again, interrupted as Tyler softy murmured into the brunette girl's ear, "hi."

The Gilbert girl couldn't help but tighten her hold around Tyler's neck as if she was afraid that he would end up leaving again. It took Emily a solid two minutes of breathing in her best friend's warm and home-like scent before she finally murmured back, "hi."

The Lockwood werewolf let out a small chuckle when he realized that Emily wasn't planning on releasing him any time soon. Tyler understood why, though, since Caroline had caught him up to everything that was happening in Mystic Falls, so he knew all about the hybrid that was trying to kill his best friend.

Tyler wanted to comfort the Gilbert girl as best as he could as he could only imagine how she was doing with all of this, so he unlocked Emily's hands from around his neck before he linked their fingers together and gave Emily's hand a tight squeeze. "How are you feeling, Princess?" The Lockwood werewolf softly inquired as he gently ran his thumb across the human girl's palm.

Emily stared across at the Lockwood werewolf for a moment of silence while she bit down on her bottom lip before she ended up shaking her head. "Oh, you know me," the Gilbert girl began with an easy smile displayed across her nude lips before she continued with a joking tone, "always ready for anything." Emily didn't want to have Tyler worrying too much about her - like everyone else - so she hoped that her answer would be enough to wipe the worry off of Tyler's face.

"That's complete bullshit and we both know it," the Lockwood werewolf muttered without an ounce of hesitation in his voice while he shook his head as he stared down at the Gilbert girl in front of him. Tyler hated that Emily felt like she had to lie to him, but he wasn't going to let that start now when they have always been honest with one another no matter how big the issue is.

Emily couldn't help but release a small, amused chuckle at the fact that the Lockwood teenager didn't take her answer. The Gilbert girl knew that she shouldn't have expected anything less when Tyler has always been the one to call her out on her bullshit ever since they were in elementary school.

It hadn't mattered when, for instance, Emily started to date some guy, Tyler would tell her straight up that she was being stupid for dating a fuckboy and he wasn't going to be nice to Brad or when Emily caught said fuckboy cheating on her and Tyler told her how stupid she had been before he would go kick his fellow football member's ass. Tyler was always going to call her out on her bullshit and Emily suppose that was one of the things that she loved about the werewolf.

Emily lightly shrugged her shoulders when she realized that the Lockwood teenager was still waiting on an answer before she mumbled out, "maybe so." The Gilbert girl was never going to change how she was with how she dealt with her emotions. She would rather hide them with jokes and stupid answers, so her loved ones wouldn't worry about her and this time wasn't any different.

Tyler stared across at the brunette girl for a solid two minutes as he gave her a pointed look in hoping that she would actually tell him how she was doing. However, when Emily continued to hold her tongue, the Lockwood werewolf released a small sigh as he knew that he wasn't going to get his answer right now.

Instead, Tyler decided to move on as he gazed at the human girl with a soft smile playing on his lips from finally being around his best friend in so long. Tyler hated that he had been away from Emily for so long, so it felt like home to have her this close to him again. The Lockwood teenager slowly brought his hand up and rubbed his thumb along the human girl's cheek before he quietly murmured, "I've missed you so fucking much."

A wide grin immediately pulled up onto the Gilbert girl's face at Tyler's confession before a softer one took its place. "I've missed you, too," Emily murmured before she gave Tyler's hand a tight squeeze as she added, "I'm glad you're back." Emily honestly had no idea why Tyler was back in Mystic Falls or if someone called him but she wasn't going to question it when it felt so good to have her best friend back in her life again.

Tyler tried to hide the small frown from the brunette girl as he thought about the reason why he was back in Mystic Falls. However, the Lockwood teenager decided to not mention what had happened to his mother as he knew it would just stress Emily out even more and he knew she definitely didn't need that right now. Instead, Tyler smiled softly across at the Gilbert girl before he murmured, "you still look as beautiful as the moment I met you."

Emily immediately rolled her amused green eyes at the Lockwood teenager across from her. "You mean when I had snot falling from my nose at this very park?" The Gilbert girl questioned with a raise of her right eyebrow as she remembered how they met at Mystic Park when they were toddlers and she had been a snotty mess.

Tyler released one of the happiest and carefree chuckles that he had released in a long while as he slowly trailed his thumb across the Gilbert girl's right cheek. "That very day, Princess," the Lockwood werewolf affirmed what Emily had jokingly uttered. Tyler remembered that day like it was yesterday. He was a small kid so he didn't remember a lot about that day, but he did remember those bright green eyes of Emily's that out-shined the sun in the sky.

The Gilbert girl couldn't help but roll her green irises, once again, as she stared across at her best friend with a sense of happiness that she hadn't felt in the last few days. It was almost like everything was back to normal and there wasn't a hybrid currently trying to kill her. "You're crazy," Emily murmured as she shook her head in amusement from the fact that Tyler actually thought she had looked appealing back then when she knew for certain that she looked like a hot mess that day in Mystic Park.

Only for you, the Lockwood werewolf thought to himself as he softly gazed at the girl, who he has been in love with since forever. Tyler didn't even realize how he felt until he left Mystic Falls with Jules. The Lockwood werewolf honestly blamed these new feelings for his best friend on Mason from his uncle always joking about them getting together since they turned eight years old.

Tyler had never gone a day in his life where he didn't have the Gilbert girl by his side, so going that long without talking or actually seeing Emily made the Lockwood werewolf realize that he loved her way more than a best friend should.

However, Tyler knew that the green eyed beauty across from him was absolutely and unconditionally happy with the younger Salvatore and he didn't wan to ruin the happiness that Emily had, so he decided his best bet was to keep quiet about his feelings. The Lockwood werewolf decided to hide his feelings for his best friend because the only thing that mattered to him was that Emily was happy and if that meant that he had watch her be happy with someone else, he would do it for her. Tyler just couldn't find it in himself to be selfish when it came to the Gilbert girl.

(A/N I can see myself changing the ending of this story and making it into a Tyler one... but I won't!)

"So, what are you doing back here, anyway?" Emily curiously wondered after a few minutes of comfortable silence had passed and she realized that Tyler wasn't going to say anything else. The Gilbert girl was happy to see Tyler but she was confused as it why he decided to randomly come back to Mystic Falls.

Tyler anxiously bit down on his bottom lip for a few seconds as he tried to decide to what to tell the Gilbert girl. The Lockwood werewolf, after a moment, ultimately decided that he wouldn't tell Emily the real reason for why he was back in town as he didn't want to worry the brunette girl when she had so much already on her plate. So, instead, Tyler lied as easily murmured with a light shrug of his shoulders, "I was just passing through town with the pack on our way towards Washington."

The Gilbert girl slowly nodded her head in understanding as she supposed that was logical. He probably stopped to see his mom, Emily silently guessed. "So, how's that going, by the way?" The human Petrova doppelganger curiously wondered at the mention of the wolf pack, "are you happy being around other people that can understand you?"

Tyler, however, didn't exactly answer Emily's two sets of questions like she had thought he would. "You've always been the one to understand me," the Lockwood werewolf softly murmured as he had completely ignored Emily's question about his experience with the pack before he placed a gentle kiss onto the human girl's forehead and he breathed in her warm and familiar scent.

Emily couldn't help but furrow her brows at the Lockwood werewolf's action as they never been that affectionate before. Yeah, they were each other's first kiss in the sixth grade but that kiss definitely felt different to any friendly embrace that they have ever shared. However, Emily decided to not think too much about it. The Gilbert girl figured that she was just overthinking the action with the very emotional day that she had with saying goodbye to everyone before the sacrifice.

"I will alwa-" Emily began to assure her best friend that she would be there for him as she figured that he was either struggling with the pack or that he was thinking about her possible death. However, though, before the Gilbert girl could complete her sentence, she was soon interrupted by an unfamiliar voice.

"Well, doesn't this look cute," Klaus' witch, Maddox, sarcastically muttered with a smirk rising onto his thick lips as he slowly strutted towards the three exact teenagers who he had been searching for.

The Lockwood werewolf and the Forbes vampire immediately became on guard at the sight of someone who they had never seen before - especially with what was going to happen tonight. Tyler was the first one to move out of the two supernatural beings as he quickly moved to stand in front of his best friend before he growled out, "who the hell are you?"

Caroline also went into protective mode for her human best friend as she went to charge at the man. However, the Forbes vampire was instantly stopped, though, when she suddenly felt a stinging sensation on the side of her neck before Caroline felt her body fall carelessly onto the leaves of Mystic Park.

The Gilbert girl's ears instantly perked up at the loud sound, so Emily turned around from behind Tyler's back before her green irises immediately widened at the sight of her best friend. "Caroline!" The human Petrova doppelganger shouted in worry for the Forbes vampire as she noticed a woman standing over her best friend's body with what was most likely a needle full of vervain in her hand.

"It was lovely to finally see who the boss wants so much," Maddox mused as he watched the worry and distress on both of the human Petrova doppelganger and the Lockwood werewolf's faces.

The Gilbert girl didn't even react to the witch's voice as she only cared about what was going on with her best friend. However, though, before Emily could lift her foot from the leaf-covered ground to rush to Caroline's aid, she heard the male witch mumble something that she couldn't understand before Emily felt her whole body freeze with her left foot lifted onto her toes as she was mid step.

"What the hell," the Gilbert girl muttered underneath her breath as she pulled and pushed on her left foot from the awkward position it was in. However, when Emily realized the reason why she was stuck in this position, the brunette girl rolled her green eyes before she glared over at the man and muttered in annoyance, "I'm really starting to hate witches."

The male witch carelessly shrugged his shoulders as if he didn't take offense to the human Petrova doppelganger's words. "It's just business," Maddox simply uttered as he shot the Gilbert girl a small smirk.

The Lockwood werewolf was growing more and more worried and anxious as the seconds ticked by. It became even worse when he realized this guy, this witch, was working with the feared hybrid. Tyler wanted to protect the Gilbert girl from any type of attack, so he went to push Emily further behind him. However, when Emily's body wouldn't even budge, the Lockwood werewolf instantly glared over to the witch before he commanded in a fierce growl, "let her go!"

Maddox rolled his light brown eyes at the young wolf before he boredly muttered, "no can do." The male witch then stared across at the werewolf for a solid minute or so with a wide smirk slowly raising onto his lips before he taunted the young teenager, "how's mommy dearest doing?"

Tyler instantly felt this hot and burning rage enter his body at the mention of what happened to his mother and from realizing that the man in front of him was partly the cause of it - the other being Klaus. "You son of a bitch," the Lockwood werewolf growled before he went to charge at the witch responsible for his mother's fall. However, Tyler didn't get very far before he suddenly fell to his knees in agony as he felt his bones beginning to break as if he was in transition - which isn't supposed to happen for a few more hours.

"No! Stop!" The Gilbert girl shouted in panic after she watched her other best friend practically break down in front of her. Emily hurriedly tried to move her body as quickly and hastily as she could but, sadly, it was no use when not even a single muscle would twitch with the two witches both chanting around her.

Emily knew it was pointless in trying to get her body to move, so the Gilbert girl tried a different tactic. "Please!" The human Petrova doppelganger desperately cried out before she begged as she couldn't stand to see her two best friends get hurt because of her, "take me! You don't need them! Take me!"

The duo of witches didn't react to the human girl's words at first as they continued to chant until the young wolf finally stopped moving and fell to the ground. "It's not time for you yet," Maddox responded to the human Petrova doppelganger's begging request in a very bored and dull tone as if he was having a normal conversation.

Maddox, once again, ignored the Gilbert girl's cries as he bent down and picked up the young wolf before he carelessly tossed him over his right shoulder. The male witch, once he had the werewolf situated, looked back over to Emily with a wide smirk while he waited for Greta to join his side with the passed out vampire before he told the doppelganger with amusement ringing all throughout his voice, "Klaus will be back for you later."

The Gilbert girl felt her green irises widen in shock as she came to realize that Klaus was planning to use her two best friends in his hybrid sacrifice for his vampire and werewolf. "No, no, no!" Emily wailed as she, once again, tried to fight the spell on her body as hard as she could while warm, hot tears steadily fell down her reddened cheeks.

Emily felt absolutely helpless as she watched the two witches take two of the most important people in her life away from her. "Please!" The Gilbert girl continued to desperately beg and cry as she witnessed Klaus' little followers walk away with her best friends. The worse part of this whole ordeal, though, was when the witches disappeared and she felt her body fell to the hard ground and she was all alone.

Emily felt so numb as she leaned down on her knees and her elbows were pressed into the dirty ground while loud sobs continued to slip through her lips from watching her two best friends being taken from her without being able to help them. It absolutely broke Emily's heart that she couldn't do anything but watch as Tyler and Caroline were taken from her. She never felt that helpless in her life and it completely crushed her soul that it pained her to breathe.

The Gilbert girl continued to cry and sob for the Forbes vampire and the Lockwood werewolf for a solid ten minutes before all sounds slowly came to a stop from exhaustion. Emily took a few moments to get her breathing back to normal instead of being shaky and weak before she sluggishly pushed herself up onto the heels of her black ankle boots with a sense of numbness as she stared across at hers and Tyler's tree with tears clouding her green irises.

"I am so, so sorry," the Gilbert girl quietly whispered in the deadly silent Mystic Park while she locked her green eyes on to the spot on the old tree, where she and Tyler had carved their names into the wood from when they were twelve. After another full three minutes, Emily forced herself to look away before she planted her feet into the ground as she stood up straight.

Emily honestly didn't know what she was supposed to do with her two best friends missing. She didn't know how she could find them when it wasn't like she knew where Klaus would be. It pained Emily so much that she couldn't act right now and go find Caroline and Tyler like she was used to doing when something went wrong in Mystic Falls.

However, Emily was definitely not going to sit back and do nothing. That just wasn't her style. Emily would search the ends of the Earth before she would give up on her loved ones. Emily decided that she needed to calm down first, though. The Gilbert girl knew it would be a bad idea to go rushing into things when Klaus was most likely waiting for her to be alone to grab her and take her.

So, as the Gilbert girl slowly exited out of the thick woods of Mystic Park, Emily decided that she would take a pit stop at the Grill to get a drink or three to calm herself down. Emily wanted to be level-headed and prepared before she would go out and search for her two best friends before the full moon is at its full peak.

I promise, I won't let him hurt you, Emily silently swore to her two missing best friends as she headed downtown Mystic Falls with an air of determination following her body. The Gilbert girl was feeling a series of emotions right now but she was not going to let that stop her from saving her loved ones from the feared hybrid.
