Friday, January 1st, 1968...
"I-" Steve began. "Happy New Years!!" Soda and Sandy both yelled as they hugged Steve and I. I hugged everyone and we did a toast. "Well, I guess it's time y'all know what I've been working on for the past few weeks. And to reveal the gender of the baby" I said.
"I decided what better way, than to paint the room and give you guys some gifts for the room!" I led them to the room upstairs. The door was closed. "Ready?" I asked. They all hollered. I oppened the door. Revealing beautiful yellow walls with painted baby animals on them. Baby giraffes, bears, porcupines, sloths, pandas were all holding pink accessories. The baby was a girl.
Soda and Sandy gasped as the gang cheered. Finally we had a girl in the house. If it was a girl, Sandy and Soda had settled for the name Eliza Lynn Curtis. It had a beautifully nice and smooth ring to it. We all cheered. Steve was across the the room from me. Holding a glass of tequila in his hand while the other one was stuffed in the locked of his pants. He looked at me and I felt myself slowly melt. In that moment I realized, I couldn't lie to myself.
