The Second Family Christmas
Mitsu/Katsu Age: 7

Three children stood in front of the red headed woman, waiting her inspection. Each wore a coat and had a scarf draped around their necks. The red headed boy stood beside his sister, who stood in the middle. He smiled sweetly as his mother straightened his scarf then handed him some mittens. His hair was pulled out of his face by a simple ponytail.
Beside the redheaded boy was his sister, who matched in in height. Her hair had been braided, a request from her mother which the girl complied, though it hasn't come easily. Unlike her brother, she had an impatient frown on her face. The frown only made the mother smile more as she popped a hat on top of the girl's head before handing the girl a pair of mittens.
Beside the girl was a slightly taller blue haired boy. His cheeks flushed in embarrassment when the woman kneeled down and started tying his scarf tighter around his neck. On his head was an old floppy hat which had once been his grandfathers. Already on his hands were a pair of new mittens, which Shanks had bought for the boy.
"'Ka-san! Can we go now?" The girl whined, wiggling her knees as she almost jumped in place.
Sayomi smiled, looking at Mitsu in amusement. She took note that the girl had lasted a record of eight minutes before becoming impatient. "I suppose-"
Before the woman could even finish, the girl turned and ran out the front door. "Thanks, 'Ka-san!"
Sato and Makoto turned around to look for the girl with wide eyes. Then they looked back at Sayomi. Sato looked annoyed while Makoto looked sheepish.
"Why can't she run that fast when we're supposed to clean our room?" Sato sighed, remembering the last time he had cleaned it almost completely by himself.
"Shanks is coming, what else do you expect?" Sayomi shrugged, a smile tugging at her lips while she shrugged. "It can't be helped. Though you two might want to hurry if you want to catch up before she tries to jump into the ocean to swim to him."
Both boys eye's widened as they looked at each other before turning to run out the door. "Mitsu! Wait up!"
The mother's smile grew as she saw the boys scrambling after Mitsu. Their actions and pleas for Mitsu to slow down showing their concern for the sister. It was enough to give Sayomi some pride that she was raising these children right.

Mitsu regretted her discussion. Big time.
Jumping in the water at freezing temperature was apparently not a good idea. For many reasons of course. The first being because of the shock her body felt when she jumped into the icy water, which prompted the second problem of not being able to swim as well as she normally can. That was followed up by her dear beloved Uncle jumping into the ocean to her rescue, which also prompted both a scolding from his crew and her Uncle to unnecessary freeze. Not to mention she was freezing, it felt as if the chill went down to her bones.
She had learned a lesson. Don't jump into cold water.
Lucky Roo had been quick to grab a steaming cup of hot cocoa and give it to the freezing girl. Mitsu loved Lucky Roo's hot cocoa. It was as if she was drinking melted chocolate, and she could make out a ting of cinnamon. She loved cinnamon. So perhaps jumping into freezing water had it's perks.
"You need to be careful, Mitsu." Shanks scolded me, shivering as he clutched his blanket closer to his body. "You should know better than to jump into such cold water. You cold have gotten frostbite if I hadn't jumped in to help you."
Yasopp patted Shanks on the shoulder, sighing. "Captain, leave the kid alone. She was just so excited to see me that she couldn't wait." He sent a wink to Mitsu, making the girl grin behind the blanket.
Shanks whipped his head around to look at his sniper. "Lies! She was excited to see me, clearly." He placed his hand on his chest to further point to himself.
Yasopp shrugged, walking over towards Mitsu. "Sure, Captain. Whatever helps you fall asleep." Then he frowned as he placed his arm around the girl's shoulders, feeling how cold she was. "Oh, you really should warm up. Maybe you should go inside."
Mitsu shook her head, "I wanna stay out here! The only time I get to be on a ship is when you guys are here."
Shanks sighed, smiling as he stood up. "Come on, kiddo. Let's go inside, I'll show you our library."
She frowned, reading hadn't really seemed exciting to her. The girl didn't understand what was so great about it. Rather than read those boring history books her mother insisted on, she would draw instead. It was much more fun.
Seeing his niece's dislike of the idea, the Captain grinned at another. "Or, we can go look at the canons."
Immediately the girl shot up and bounced on the balls of her feet. "Yeah! Let's go, Uncle Shanks!"
The man grinned, holding up a finger. "Only once you admit I'm the best in this crew."
"Of course! You're the best in this crew." She chanted, jumping in excitement. "You're the bestest, greatest Uncle ever!"
The crew stared at their Captain with deadpanned eyes as he giggled and waved a 'dismissive' hand. "Oh, you're so sweet, Mitsu."
On shore the two brothers watched the approaching ship with a sigh. Sato shook his head, reminding himself to tell his mother.
"We were too late." Sato sighed, looking over to Makoto.
"I'm not even surprised that she did it again." Makoto muttered. "Thankfully Shanks got her." Beside him Sato nodded in agreement.

"Why am I dressing as Santa?" Shanks frowned, whispering to his sister as she handed him a red suit a smirk on her face.
"Clearly I can't be Santa." Sayomi shrugged, gesturing to her body. "I'm far too good looking and incredibly fit."
The twin blinked, then stomped his foot childishly at his sister. "What are you saying? I'm fit! Are you calling me fat?" When his sister only smirked and didn't move her outstretched hand, he glared. "Sayomi!"
"You're so stupid sometimes." Benn muttered with a sigh. "You'll wake up the kids. Sato's a light sleeper."
Lucky Roo grinned and took the Santa outfit from Sayomi. "Forget Shanks. I'll do it."
Shanks nodded, "Yeah. Lucky would make a perfect Santa."
"The kid's will love me." Lucky Roo looked at Sayomi, who smirked wider. "I bet they will think the world of me. Since Santa is one of the better parts of Christmas-"
"Give me that." Shanks swiped the Santa suit out of Lucky Roo's hands. "I'll be the perfect Santa."
Sayomi smiled sweetly at her brother. "Oh good! Makoto's been excited for Santa. Apparently he said he hasn't been visited by Santa while he was living with his grandparents." The crew didn't miss the sad look that crossed her eyes. "I had to explain that it wasn't that he was on the naughty list, but instead I said that Santa didn't want to out stage his grandparents who were trying their hardest. He took it pretty well, and now he's super excited."
Shanks groaned, rubbing his face. "Why do you have such cute kids here?! How do you not give them everything they want?"
Sayomi smiled, patting her brother on the head. "Because I have you. You spoil them far too much, so I can be stricter and not feel as much guilt. Now please go put on that Santa suit. Then get on the roof and make a bunch of noise."
The pirate complied quietly this time. He didn't complain anymore. How could he? When his niece and nephews were so excited to see the real Santa.

The three children were woken to the sounds of stomping and jingle bells. Mitsu was the first out of her bed, only taking a second to tug at both Sato and Makoto. The blue haired boy more weary and was confused as to why he was being woken all of a sudden.
"Shh, it's Santa!" Mitsu hissed, fighting a grin as she tugged her brothers further along the hallway. Makoto woke up far quicker at the news, but looked far more skeptical than excited like Mitsu.
"How-How do you know?" Makoto muttered quite worried. "What if someone broke in?"
"It has to be Santa." Mitsu whispered, looking to Sato for confirmation. However her twin was hardly awake, his eyes still drooping and a yawn escaping his lips.
She huffed, "If it isn't, then we'll just shout for Ka-san and Uncle Shanks. They'll save us." She shrugged, then jerked both boys after her. "Let's go!"
Though he didn't want to, Makoto followed after the twins. Though he was worried he would regret it.
When they reached the end of the hallway, they peeked their heads around the corner. Surely enough, a tall man in a red suit was stuffing presents under the christmas tree.
Before either boy could say anything, Mitsu ran out and tackled the jolly red man. "Santa!"
The man stumbled forward a bit in surprise, letting out a surprised 'Ho jo ho.'
Mitsu squeezed Santa then blinked and looked up. When she locked eyes with the man a small frown gathered on her lips. "Why are you..."
"Santa?" Mitsu stopped upon hearing Sato and Makoto question the man standing in front of her.
She looked at Shanks and stepped back to let her brother's get closer. However, neither had noticed the difference. They didn't see the identical laughter lines, nor the same exact eyes and nose, or the skin tone. They clearly didn't see the small strand of red hair poking out from under the hideous wig that was placed on him. They must not have noticed his height being identical either, nor that when you hug him he feels the same as Shanks.
Mitsu was positive that was her Uncle dressed up as Santa. Her eyes aren't lying. Even Sayomi has mad a few remarks on how she gathers details, which Mitsu claims is just so she can draw better.
However, she didn't say anything. How could she? When her brothers were as excited as she had been a moment ago.
Especially Makoto. To her, he deserved every ounce of excitement he gets, and this is one of his times.
"You've all been so good this year." 'Santa' exclaimed patting Sato and Makoto on the head and looking up at Mitsu, who was simply staring at him. "Now, back to bed. I'll let it slip this year that you saw me."
Both boys nodded and gave him one more hug before turning and scurrying down to their room. Mitsu paused, looking back at him, 'Santa' opening his arms expecting a hug.
"I only hug family." Mitsu answered, then reached in and hugged Shanks, "Thank you, Uncle." She whispered before turning away and running off.
Shanks blinked, staring in confusion as the girl ran off with her brothers. How had she found him out? Was he just not fat enough? The thought alone make him smile and he would remember to rub that into Sayomi's face later.
In the end only Shanks and Mitsu knew that she found out the secret. He had an internal bet for how long the girl could keep the secret. Never did Shanks think that she would keep the secret forever.
