 Chapter Fifteen.

Justin's Point of View:

I’ve never seen someone look so beautiful in my entire life. I had no words when I opened the door and saw her standing before me, everything about her looking so exquisite and so profoundly beautiful I couldn’t even find the words to speak. The only thing I allowed myself to do was just stand there and take her all in, seeing her dress define every angle and every curve her body had, seeing her eyes stand out from the eyeliner, her lips being so kissable from the red lipstick, her feet in those heels that I’d die to see her wear naked in, her hair that had ringlets falling to the middle of her back. I don’t even know what to do right now.

She could tell I was in awe of her because that small laugh that I would love to hear over and over again came out and she bit her bottom lip, waiting for me to say something. I noticed her fingers twirl around a clutch in her hand before I finally brought my eyes up to meet hers once more to somehow try and get something to come out.

“Wow.” Was all I could muster. “Sophia… you are so breathtaking.”

“I could say the same.” She noted, scanning her eyes up and down my body as well.

I knew her favorite thing to see me in was a suit so I took it upon myself to buy a new one, a black one to be exact, and I made sure my hair was styled to perfection although I acted like a girl in the mirror since it took me about a half hour. I couldn’t help it because I wanted her to think I looked nice. I’m glad she thought the same.

“Uh, thanks.” I shyly said and closed the door behind me. “I told the driver to park at the end of the alley so we can leave that way.”

Interlocking her fingers with mine, I started to lead her down the endless flights of stairs and glanced back at her to look at her features again. I can’t believe this is going to be the last night we get to spend with each other before I have to leave for the tour. I can’t believe I’m not going to be able to hold her hand every second or not hear her laugh in person. I get that we might be able to see each other once a month. But that’s once a month. That’s three weeks I’ll have to spend without her and my heart is in no way ready to do that yet.

“Our outfits match.” She said and held onto my hand tighter.

I already had noticed that the minute I opened the door but I didn’t want to sound weird to her if I said something. We looked like we were a couple again and I couldn’t be more thankful for that because honestly, I wouldn’t mind if the media caught a shot of how we looked tonight and said we were back together again. If I read that in the magazines it would seem like the truth for maybe even a second. A second was more than I’ve had in the past year so I’ll take what I can get.

            “I know.” I finally replied. “We’re a power couple.”

            “Well if we were actually-“

“Used to be.” I corrected, feeling my heart almost break. “We used to be.”

When the door to the alleyway opened I cautiously looked both ways to make sure there were no photographers before I began to walk. A puddle interrupted my stride though so I put my hand out to stop Sophia before she walked into it as well. I hadn’t even thought about the storm that had happened earlier today but as I scanned the rest of the walk to the limo I saw a bunch of muddy water, some trash from the dumpster scattered endlessly around it. This place was so disgusting.

“What are you doing?” She giggled when I scooped her into my arms and began to walk further towards the limo, my dress shoes becoming splattered with dirt and mud.

“I don’t want your shoes to get dirty.” I said quietly. “You’re too beautiful for that.”

She laughed harder than she did before and kissed my cheek, all sense of feeling leaving my body. I think my knees might have buckled a little but when I reached the limo, I ignored it and placed her gently inside, watching her scoot over before I slid in beside her. We haven’t been in a limo together since the night of the club and I know what happened then wasn’t going to happen now. I don’t think she’ll be drinking again for a very long time.

“So where are we going?” She asked, scooting closer to me than I intended her to. “You never told me.”

“And why would I do that? It’s a surprise Soph.”

All I got in response to that was a roll of her eyes before she reached over to interlock our fingers together once more. God, it never failed to amaze me how by just one touch she could make my heart pick up speed.

As the lights whizzed by us from the city we sat together in silence for a little until she finally let out a sigh and rested her head on her shoulder. I acted on instinct and rested mine on top of her head, my thumb going in circles around her palm. The both of us weren’t saying anything but I could almost guarantee we were thinking about the same thing. The goodbye.

“We could still be a power couple you know…” She trailed off. “Eventually.”

“You just say the word and we can be. It’s in your hands.”

“I know.” Was the only thing she said after that.

---------

The restaurant I privately booked for us two years ago stared back at us after I helped her out of the limo. She didn’t know what to say but she should have expected it. I loved this place because not only was it a good night before Jace met up with us here, but it was one of the most beautiful places I’ve ever seen. The rooftop that overlooked the city was breathtaking just like she was and as soon as the door at the top of the stairs opened, the same gasp I remember her doing before came out and I couldn’t help but smile.

They’ve updated it since we were last here. Now they had a bunch of tall bushes and plants with little fairy lights wrapped around them, almost making it look like a garden. They installed a waterfall fountain too and just beside that was our table with a candle lit just in the middle. It was even better than I imagined it to be and for our last night, I can only hope she will enjoy it like she did the last time before the whole helicopter and Jace incident.

“I love it here.” She breathed out, her eyes scanning the city. “It’s so beautiful.”

“Not as beautiful as you though.”

Grasping her by the wrist, I spun her around to face me and wrapped my arms around her waist so I could pull her closer to me. Her smell clogged my nose but in such a good way. She smelled like pure vanilla mixed with Chanel. Something I’d never get tired of.

“You’re such a gentleman.” She whispered. “The last thing I want to do is say goodbye to you tonight Justin and I know it’s only been two days since we’ve started talking again but I just can’t-“

She completely broke down then and buried her head into my suit so she could cry, my heart breaking just at the sight of it. I knew that this would come at some point tonight but I just didn’t think it’d happen so soon. The only thing I could do was hold her and try not to let myself get emotional either. The last thing I wanted to do was say goodbye to this girl.

“Sweetheart it’s going to be okay.” I soothed, stroking her back. “We’re gonna make it Soph. I promise.”

“How can you even say that?” She gasped, pulling away from me. “We’re going to be thousands of miles apart and you think we’re going to make it? We’ve had two good days Justin, only two. What makes you think you won’t go and sleep with someone else? That you won’t cheat on me again?”

“So that’s what this was about this morning.” I stated. “You’re afraid I’ll cheat on you again.”

“Why the hell wouldn’t I be?!”

She flung her arms up into the air, the tears continuing to stream down her cheeks. I don’t blame her for feeling the way she does but I can’t stop my tour. My fans mean the world to me too and it’s like I had the weight of the world on my shoulders right now. Them or the girl. The girl or them. That’s how I was feeling right now and I hated being pulled in two directions.

“I don’t know how to reassure you Sophia but I promise you that I’m dedicated to you and only you from now on. There’s nothing else I can really say but I love you and I will always love you and I know it doesn’t mean much but these past two days have meant the world to me whether you realize that or not. To have you by me and to just… care so much about me. I don’t know but all I know is that I don’t want to wake up another damn day without you by me and to know that’s going to have to happen kills me inside too. I don’t like the fact that I have to be away from you any more than you do. I’m sorry and if I could create a happy medium I would.”

“But that’s the thing.” She whispered shakily. “There’s never going to be a happy medium Justin.”

Nothing could stop the continuous stabbing in my chest that I was feeling right now when I looked into her eyes. She looked like she had been hurt too many times and she was done. Like she was too tired to try and work this out. The worst part about all of this was that I was out of options to try and get her to stay because there wasn’t a thing that I could do.

“You and I have never had a happy medium but that’s how we work. We’re polar opposites and no, I’m not a normal person. I’m famous but there’s nothing I can do about that. I may be famous but I love you and at the end of the day I want to come home to you. I want to come home to you and see you making dinner. I want to kiss you endlessly every night and show you how much you mean to me for the rest of my entire life. If you give us another chance Sophia I’ll do just that.”

Almost as if the sky was reflecting my mood, little droplets landed onto my head and I looked up to see the clouds a gloomy grey, just like we were both feeling right now. I didn’t care about the rain because what’s more important right now was her. She was still crying but she started to calm herself down and let out a little sigh before she looked away from me.

“I just don’t want you to leave dammit!”

The droplets turned into a downpour, Sophia trying to cover her hair from getting wet but finally gave up and just clenched her fists at her sides as she stared at me to wait for an answer.

“Sophia I don’t know what you want me to do!” I shouted over the rain. “I don’t want you to leave me either but you won’t come with me. You don’t want us to be back together and I’m not saying I’m mad because I get it and all but Jesus, what do you want me to do?!”

Her lips crashed against mine before I could say anything else. The downpour was unreal from all of the rain but right here in this moment that was the last thing I was worried about. I picked her up in my arms and held her there as she kissed me so fast, her fingers running through my hair to try and get every ounce of me it seemed like. This night once again didn’t go like I had planned at all. Our dinner was still set out on the table, all of it getting completely ruined, but I wasn’t hungry. The only thing surrounding my head right now was her and how she tasted.

Thunder erupted above us and my lips never left hers as she sunk onto the concrete of this roof beside the plants, her back landing softly on top of the gravel. I didn’t want her to get her dress dirty but she didn’t seem to care about it as her hands tried to fumble with the buttons of my dress shirt, droplets of rain pouring endlessly onto her chest.

Right now I wanted to know what she was thinking. I wanted to know if she was still mad or if she was still thinking of giving us up but I don’t think she was. I think she honestly wanted us to be together and there was nothing I could do except be hopeful.

“The photographers!” I shouted, trying to be heard over the downpour. “They’ll see us.”

“I don’t care about the photographers.” She replied. “I care about you Justin. Nobody else but you right now.”

Reattaching my lips to hers, I ran my hand down to the hemline of her dress and slowly started to move my fingertips up it as I entwined my tongue with hers and tried to savor every last second of this. I don’t know if she’ll want to see me when I’m on tour or if she’ll even pick up the phone. For all I know this could have just been some fun weekend that she’ll forget two weeks from now. I can only hope she’ll still want me when I come back.

“You’re so confusing.” I groaned, leaving a gentle kiss right by her earlobe. “I don’t know what this means.”

“This means I love you!” She yelled over the rain, my heart completely stopping. “I never stopped loving you. I will always care about you no matter what you do and that’s something I will never understand but you mean everything to me. All I care about is you and all I think about is you. Like when I wake up all I think about is what you’re doing or when I go to sleep right beside you all I want to know is what you’re thinking in that exact moment. I’ve been trying to take it slow but I’m in love with you. It feels so good to finally say it Justin. I’m in love with you and I always will be.”

My lips have never met with hers so quickly before in my entire life. I couldn’t control myself from her speech because she just relieved all of my fears and there was nothing I could do but try to show her how much I loved her. The fact that the both of us were soaked from the rain or the fact that it was thunder storming so bad right now didn’t even matter. All I wanted was her.

“Then come with me.” I whispered and pulled away breathlessly. “Come with me baby and we won’t ever have to be apart.”

“You don’t know how much I want that but I have work Justin. I can’t just quit that.”

“And I know you have work but you keep forgetting that I can take care of you. All you will ever need I can give you. I know I can’t give you your independence and I guess I get it if you want to continue working but I won’t lie and say it isn’t going to hurt.”

She let out a loud sigh and closed her eyes for a moment, letting the rain trickle down her forehead. It was cold and even though she was wearing a long sleeved dress the rain was making her shiver. I didn’t want her to catch a cold and despite how high my emotions were running right now, I’d rather take this back to the hotel room.

“We need to get you inside.” I muttered lowly and kissed her chest. “Just forget I said anything, alright? You don’t have to decide anything right now. We have this whole night to spend with each other and I don’t plan on getting a second of sleep. That’s what the plane’s for.”

“Yeah.” She agreed, completely ignoring my statement. “I’m freezing.”
