Zyanya holds Niklaus' hand and looks down at him with a smile as he lays upon the ritual table "how much longer?" Niklaus asks Zyanya chuckles softly as Vincent replies "we're almost there all that's left is your death once I scratch you with the thorns, I'll stake you in the heart to end things quick and painless the Ancestors are gonna help me with everything else" they hear a mans voice say "might reconsider, Vincent or else your friend dies" Niklaus mutters as he sits up and turns to face the witches that came with a hostage "oh, you've got to be joking don't hesitate kill me now!" the man that holds a knife to the hostages throat says "if you're so eager to die, be patient once the Hollow rises, she'll kill you herself" Zyanya looks at the woman hostage and asks softly "do you trust me?!" the woman looks at Vincent who nods then she nods as well but with her eyes instead of her head her captures fall to the ground dead "hey I didn't save you I saved her!.... and his voice was annoying!" Zyanya says to Niklaus with a playfully teasing tone he chuckles "uh sorry about your buddies Vin!" she adds Vincent smiles then replies "they were no more my buddies then your boyfriend is!" she smiles at him then turns to Niklaus and says "oh wait!.... you're upset because I ruined your fun not because....!" she stops as his lips rush up to meet hers and Vincent rushes over to the woman and says with a frantic worried tone as he gently grips her shoulders "oh my god are you ok?" the woman gasps for breath then says as she points over to his shoulder "Vincent! the thorns!" Vincent turns and sees a man burning the thorns in one of the small fires that was burning near the mausoleum and he shouts "no!" he uses his magic to snap the mans next then walks over to the fire and looks into it then says "they're gone I can't complete the sacrifice without them" Zyanya takes Niklaus' hand in hers and he squeezes it a little harder than he meant to "how did I miss him!?!" Zyanya whispers Niklaus wraps his hand along the back of her neck and pulls her to him laying her head on his shoulder "oh uh Zyanya this is Maxine Maxine Zya" Vincent introduces "it's nice to meet you" Zyanya says as she holds her free hand out for Maxine to shake "you too" Maxine replies as she shakes her hand "Niklaus you have to go your family is in danger!" Zyanya says softly and without a second thought Niklaus rushes to where Freya and Hayley are leaving Zyanya in the cemetery with Vincent and Maxine.... "Niklaus!" Niklaus hears Zyanya's soft voice say as he was about to yell at his sister he looks at the doorway and sees her standing there pale as a ghost but still strong he rushes over to her and helps her stand up as she starts to fall "I don't feel so good!" she whispers as her body falls into his chest "I know my love I know!" he whispers into the top of her head "is that where....!?! you never got a chance to heal him did you!?!" Zyanya asks as she looks at the broken pendent laying on the desk "Hope!" Zyanya calls out and Hope walks over "help your aunt" Zyanya says Hayley's eyes widen in shock that Zyanya would ask such a thing of her (Hayley) daughter but Hope nods "you can't protect her from being who she is! and I made a promise never to put their life over mine!" Zyanya tells her "in other words they don't want me to always be their hero!" Zyanya says to Freya "the sickness has made him mad.... he's back in the white hallway with the red door living his worst nightmares" Zyanya tells Niklaus who looks down at her with a worried expression "his body died but his soul still lives it's just.... broken!" she whispers in a voice only he can hear "I won't go mad.... I just need rest.... again!" she adds he chuckles "I can't save him from these nightmares this time.... yes we're close but we're not as close as we used to be" she adds as she looks over at Hayley then says softly as though she started to have contractions "ah!" then she started screaming the most painful scream anyone has ever heard Niklaus looks at her with a worried expression on his face as he grips her arms and he hears her whisper "Inadu.... she....!" then she faints....
The next morning Niklaus finds Zyanya on the roof of the compound watching the city all around her "it's funny.... I'm actually afraid of walking the streets! though it isn't really fear somehow I know I'm not suppose to interfere with whatever she has planned yet" he hears her says softly as he walks over and stands by her side "I'm glad my children aren't here and I hope they didn't feel Elijah's death.... everything has been stronger in me as of late I sometimes even feel things from people I'm not all that close too.... Josephine's death for example strange thing is everyone I feel the pain of is close to one of you or has some minor yet seemingly major part in the Mikaelson story" she adds they stand there in silence watching the world move on around them not knowing the dangers it faces..... "why does no one ever listen to me!?!" Hayley hears Zyanya say from beside her as she (Hayley) watches Freya lay in a magic circle searching for her brother in the pendent "yes she's his sister and he loves her but that love isn't strong enough to form the link you need!" Zyanya adds "and yours is!?!" Hayley asks "no.... he doesn't love me like that anymore besides I made a promise remember!?!" Zyanya replies Hayley looks up at her with a surprised expression on her face "good luck and trust me when I tell you that you are not going to like what you see just remember he's not like that anymore you and I.... we changed him! but no one has changed him more than Hope and even her connection to him won't be strong enough.... look for a red door" Zyanya says whispering her last sentence then she walks away.... Zyanya sits by Elijah's coffin holding his hand while Freya searches his mind for him before the whole mess five years ago started she and Elijah created a link that saved Tatiana and Ilyas from feeling him be in pain at any given moment so they had no idea that he had been bitten, put to sleep, stabbed then died they both wanted them to live as normal a life that they could possibly live and feeling his pain wasn't normal Niklaus had asked her to stay and watch over his brother as well as make sure Hayley and Freya succeeded in bringing him back.... "what are you doing here!?!" Elijah asks once Zyanya walks into his memories "making sure she doesn't see any with me in them.... I don't think she'd handle them very well!" Zyanya replies he smiles at her "I'm not here to SAVE you Elijah!.... I don't want to be put on your list of enemies which despite what you say I know I would be and not just because I broke a promise but because I did something you didn't like" she adds he laughs "you do realize that these moments of clarity....?!" she asks he nods with a smile then says softly as he slides his hand over her cheek "I know!" then he says "there's a reason I love her" she replies half teasing "if you say she reminds you of me so help me Elijah Mikaelson!" he laughs then says "all of them do some have your strength, your kindness, your courage but none have your heart.... Niklaus doesn't realize how lucky he is!" she replies "he does he just has other things on his mind at the moment.... saving you and getting rid of the Hollow so he can finally take the time to get to know his daughter without anything else to worry about.... it would be nice if you two could keep yourselves out of danger for at least a day maybe two!.... I'm not done being your hero but I will take a short break if it makes you feel better.... no longer than six years though!" he chuckles "I-I should go!.... I know this side of you and I can't....! not again!" she says softly she smiles then kisses her cheek right before she disappears and the monsters he's been running away from return....
After speaking with Hayley that night Niklaus finds Zyanya standing on his balcony staring out upon the city he smiles then walks over to her and stands by her side then hears her say softly "I think I've spent enough time sleeping!" he chuckles softly as he places his hand over hers "you should....!" she adds "just a few more minutes love!" he replies she nods then places her head upon his shoulder and that's when they see Kol unknowingly make a deal with the Hollow who brought Davina back from the Ancestors Well and linked her (Davina) to herself she grips his hand a little tighter then whispers "Niklaus no!.... she can't know that there's someone out there stronger than her.... not yet!" he looks at her and nods she turns to face him then kisses his lips giving him something else to focus on.... her grateful for the distraction Klaus moves them to the bed without letting her lips go as he strips her of her clothes and makes love to her as they walk picking her up by the bend of her knees then gently laying her on the bed.... the next morning Zyanya spent the entire day in Elijah's head while Niklaus and the others try to find a way to free him from the cracking pendent without cracking him at the same time "hey! I said I wouldn't save you I never said I wouldn't try to make things seem easier!.... besides Niklaus tried to get me to "take a break from New Orleans for just a day" but I'm not leaving while you are in this predicament!" Zyanya tells Elijah when he looks at her oddly once she arrived in his white hallway "now!.... which "more pleasant" memory shall we relive hmm?!" she asks he chuckles then he reaches for her hand and walks her into one of the rooms.... "I'll be right back I have to go subdue a brotherly squabble!" Zyanya says a few hours later Elijah chuckles with a smile then watches her disappear it was nice having her there even if it was in a more friend than lover kind of way but she was right at this very moment she was in the back of his heart while he gave the rest to Hayley it was like it was with Katrina but better Zyanya walks into the courtyard just in time to see Niklaus standing over Kol with the Mikaelson dagger in hand "Nik!" Niklaus hears Zyanya's soft voice say from behind him he turns his head and looks at her then drops the dagger "you better go Kol while you have the chance!" Zyanya tells Kol who rushes out of the compound using his vampire speed "why did you do that!?!" Niklaus asks softly "because after all your family has been through you are not the only one who deserves a moment of happiness!" she replies he rushes over to her using his vampire speed and kisses her lips then whispers "I thought I told you too....!" she replies "I did I've been spending the whole day in Elijah's head.... it's very bright!.... as long as you ignore the red door..... too many splinters!" he chuckles
