"Are you sure you want to do this now?" Kim yells over the loud music from Tyler Shaw.
Sam, who's sitting in the driver's seat, sings along. He is smiling, while looking at the rear view mirror.
"Tell me, how did I ever get so lucky
That she wasn't with somebody?
So I could have her for my own, my own, my own
Thinking, how could anyone pass the feeling
Of the sound of her footsteps leaving?~" He sings, letting us now he's dead serious about her.
-I'm touched by his honesty. Seeing Sam growing as a matured man, makes me feel like a proud dad! I mean it. He finally has the guts to ask her out, after 2 years... yes, he waited this long...-
"You should sing that to Leo Meyer." I laugh, making everyone in the car groan. -Everyone despises that faggot.-
"You mean, cock sucker." Sam barks. -He hates Leo the most, since he's the reason why Crystal is afraid of love nowadays. I remember that time, where he made Leo live a miserable life, by making sure he didn't get a part time job, payed random girls to start relationships and leave him afterwards. There's more, but I don't want to talk about it.-
"Dude, why Crystal tho?!" Dash whines as he stares completely lost at the road.
"I would never wanna hurt her
I would never wanna make her cry
Now I got the chance to make it right, oh
She would never have to ask for
For me to make the time
The time to spend with her, and only her~" The driver continues singing, which spontaneously matches Dash's question.
Lance has his head leaned on the window and sends negative vibes at us. "Can you please, I said please... LOWER YOUR FUCKING RADIO!? GORDON BENNETT!" He snaps out.
-He brings out his british self, whenever he's pissed.-
"Gordon Bennett, who?" Sam finally stops singing and shuts the radio. -Thank you, Lance.-
"It's a british slang." I say and the three nod their heads.
"Makes sense... Gordon Bennett!" Dash barks, making the two idiots laugh.
"Insert british accent here please." Kim winks and this time we all laugh.
"What do you mean? I have a perfect british accent!" The latino man tries to impersonate Lance's accent.
My cousin opens his eyes and groans. "Piss off! You sound like an old fart, trying too hard!" -What the fuck?...-
With that the silence in our car is no longer existing. Our laughter fills up the car.
"Old fart!?" Dash growls, but eventually laughs. "You're just jealous you damn tard!"
"Jealous?!" Lance eyes him from head to toe. " What you? Bitch where?"
I blur their voices out, since they're being over dramatic again. It's 7:45 am and we're heading for my school. Sam decided to confess today and since we're a supportive squad, we are going to help him. Of course, Crystal doesn't know anything about this. We told Amanda and Courtney to help us out by dragging Crystal earlier to school.
We arrive just in time and spot Kace's car at the parking lot. Infront of the building stands a whole crowd of Students. I notice Sam being silent again.
"Holy Molly." Dash quietly mumbles as he looks at the crowd.
"You're gonna die." Kim pats Sam's shoulder before he leaves to meet up with the Reed siblings.
"This is your school?" Sam asks me with an unsure voice. -For real now?-
"Yes. This is where we educate ourselves." I say making him groan.
"Are you still going to do something? Or are you going to retrait like a bitch?" Lance interrupts our conversation.
I expect him to beat the shit out of this childman, but to my surprise, he just shakes his head. "I don't know."
Dash seems so focused, checking the high school girls out. He let's out a whistle and then turns around at us with a smile on his face. "How come you've got some hot chicks in school?"
-How alert he is to notice something like that, but not observe his friends current condition.-
I send him a glare and expect Lance to be doing it aswell. Sadly, you can't relay on that sick bastard.
"That's what I said too!" The childman looks like his mood lightend up.
"Alright. Let's go." I drag Sam out of the car.
He widens his eyes at me. "W-Wait! I'm not ready yet. Like what do I say? What if she rejects me? Where is my paper?" -Wow, I didn't know it did that...-
I laugh at him panicking. "Are you completely losing it? What paper, bro? You need to speak openly, if you want to win Crystal's heart."
"I guess." He looks nervous, especially when people stare at him. "Do you think she'll like the ring?"
"She'll love it." I assure my best friend and hope this reliefs him a bit. -He spent hours, looking for the right present during the weekend. Another reason, why I think they should date already. He's being serious for once!-
"Okay." He quietly says and looks around."Why are people looking at me? I'm sweating, aren't I?" -Okay, what the fuck? Of course people would look at someone, who's new and looks good. Not bragging or anything, but honestly Sam has the beauty standard features...Honestly, He's much more worse than he drama queens in my classroom.-
"What the fuck are you talking about? You look completely fine. You'll do good, trust me. " I say with a smile and he let's out a sigh.
"Thanks man, for having my back." He smiles back at me.
We walk into the middle of the crowd. I sense some direct stares at us around some corners.
Kace, Kim, Blair and Amanda head towards us, wishing Sam the best of luck. I smile at Amanda and she returns it.
"I ship them a lot." She admits.
"Same here." I respond back. "How was your holiday?"
"It was alright. I mean, Nath and Court made it kinda special. You know, I've known them for a long time, so spending holidays with them is special to me."
-Listening her talk about her best friends, makes me kinda jealous. I wish she would talk about me like that too... Am I being too selfish for wishing that though?...-
"If you spent the day with me instead- " I blurt out and she looks at me. -Darn it! Since you've already started it, you might as well end it, you jerk! Why the fuck am I talking to myself?!- "Umm... would it... be special?"
I curse myself for being this clingy. She stares at me with her full grey eyes and then a smile appears on her lips. "Y-yeah. Why do you ask?" -It's hard to resist from hugging her tight right now.-
I catch myself smiling and flushing. "I was just curious, I guess?" Her smile is still remaining on her lips.
Dash and Lance arrive a little later, with obvious smirk on their faces. -Perverts.-
About a few minutes, we spot Courtney and Nath leading Crystal to our direction.
Sam smiles all widely at her, as if he hasn't seen her for years. She looks confused, but smiles back anyways.
"What are you guys doing here?" She asks.
"Are we not allowed to pay you a visit?" Blair asks back, literally saving us somehow.
Crystal rolls her eyes at us. "You are, but you are not supposed to be here. School starts in some minutes!"
Sam finally walks up to her and removes his hands from the pockets of his jacket. -Time to get serious.- "Can you spare me a minute?"
-Shit's being smooth.-
The whole squad is being too obvious with their hyping. People realise that something is going on and turn their attention at us. I notice that Crystal seems a bit weirded out. "Okay, wow. That is spontaneous!"
Sam does the eyeroll and the mouth thing. Basically, the thing we guys do when we're about to get serious and try not to laugh at ourselves for it. "Just like the next words I'm about to tell you."
She still looks clueless and shakes her head with a smile. "Hey, that doesn't make sense. Only shit comes out from your mouth." -Uhh... that cut deep in.-
Remember, when I said we were a supportive squad? Well, yeah. That just changed. Now, the squad is enjoying the roast Samuel is getting.
Even people from our school mock him.
I look over to Sam. He doesn't seem offended at all, instead he looks amused. -Respect for this guy.- "I know, I've been a dick... most of the time." She nods her head in response, making him roll his eyes with a chuckle. -I ship them.- "But there's a side of me... that only shows himself, when you're around."
I expect Crystal to bring out her best roast. To my surprise, she flushes and avoids eye contact. "Geez, stop being so weird!"
Sam makes the mistake to call her by her real name, since he believes that it calms her down. "Crystianna Evans-"
"Shit." Lance murmurs beside me.
-Exactly dude. How could he forget?... Crystal hates her name. She believes that it is cringey as fuck.-
She flashes her eyes at him and narrows them. "Stop calling me by my full name! How many times-"
Sam widens his eyes and then shuts them. It's obvious that he clearly regrets it. "S-sorry. Just hear me up, please."
She stares at him for a while and then sighs. "Okay."
-What a lucky damn bastard I gotta say. I thought things would escalate differently...-
"You might not have noticed nor would even expect." He finally opens up to her. "It's crazy and unbelievable for me too, but these past 2 years... were the best I've ever had."
I can hear a few 'awws' coming from people's mouth.
"Samuel, I-" Before Crystal can start speaking, he continues.
"I'm not done yet." He says with a wink, making her smile. "Do you remember our first encounter?"
"How could I forget?" She says with a little laughter.
"You saved me. I remember waking up in a hospital, seeing your beautiful face before me. I thought I was staring at an angel... All I could think was: 'Am I in heaven?... Did I managed to repent from my sin? ...What did I do to deserve this?' " He chuckles in between his sentences. "I am thankful for the car accident. If I didn't go throught it, I would've never met you..."
I'm not surprised that Crystal might burst into tears any second. Samuel really knows how to treasure a person.
-Even for me, as a man, this shit is way too deep.- I unintentionally look over to Amanda. She's about to tear up aswell and so I gently wrap my arm around her shoulder. She startles and I smile at her. -If only, I could tell her, what's inside my mind right now...-
"Bloody hell! I'm about to cry!" Dash yells and wipes his fake tears off his cheeks. -Honestly...why does he have to barge in?!-
The school bell just rang, but no one seems to have noticed it yet or they just want to watch till the end. Sam decided to confess in our school for the whole guys, especially Leo, to hear it and claim her as his. -What a wise ass huh?-
My ugly ass cousin joins his stupid ness by patting his shoulder. "Right? I feel touched, Sammy."
Poor Sam sends them a glare, making Kace and Kim laugh beside me. -Supportive as fuck...-
"What I'm trying to say is..." Sam flushes and tries to express his feelings even deeper. "Crystal Evans, I love you. You're the only woman, who makes me feel like a man..."
"Samuel..." Crystal gasps in shock. Her tears suddenly roll down her cheeks as Sam goes down to his knee, pulling out the ring with a smile on his face.
Again, there's a bunch of 'awws' and some strangers yelling 'Date already!'.
I admit, I am one of them.
"Will you go out with me?" He asks, making everyone stay silent.
-I'm fucking proud of him! After 2 years, he finally found the guts to ask her out!-
All the attention goes to Crystal, who's trembling infront of the kneeling man. "I-I can't..." She mumbles.
-FUCK!-
Gasps and some 'boo-sounds' makes the situation even worse.
Seeing Sam shattered is probably one of the heart aching moments I have ever seen. Yet, he doesn't give up so easily and carefully talks to her. "Why?"
"Samuel, you're way too good for me... You deserve better. " She quietly whispers.
He's clenching his teeth, making his jaw muscle twitch. "What if you are the best one?" He sounds so hurt and sad at the same time.
-Oh shit... I hate situations like this. Moments, where we can't help him... I remember that time, when his ex-girlfriend broke his heart and caused him to drive away from home with full speed. That's where he got into an accident...-
She shakes her head and bites on her bottom lip. "Don't you get it, Sam? I'm a mess! Out of your league! What if people start thinking low of you, because of me?... It will hurt me more, seeing you go this far! There are tons of other girls, who are perfect for you-"
Samuel unexpectedly stands up and hugs her tight. "I don't want any other girl! I don't fucking care, what people say or think about me! If it means to give up my current life and leave everything behind me just to hold your hand... I fucking would!"
-Fuck... Why is this emotional?!-
"Why?-" Her voice trails off as he gently pulls her into a passionate kiss. She doesn't reject him. -Wow, he really managed to tame her.-
He carefully let's go and stares at her. "I got out from my comfort zone and am standing inside a whole bunch of people for you...Because I love you, Crystal.... What do you really want?... Tell me." He still sounds hurt.
She trembles and smiles. "I want to be with you, but-"
"You're afraid. Of making the wrong mistake, People start judging us and more unnecessary things." He continues and she looks impressed by him knowing her too well. He chuckles and kisses her forehead. "I'm afraid too, but I know that everything will turn out well.... And why? Because I trust you and want to treat you the way you deserve to be treated."
Crystal tears up again and breaks her usual character. She's not trying to be that tough girl anymore. Right now, she's finally being honest with her self, by letting her emotions flow. "I love you.." She whispers, making him smile.
He grabs her hand and kneels back down again. "So... Will you go out with me?"
"Yes, I will." She finally says and flashes her best smile out. He slides the ring into her finger and carries her up with a kiss. -Why do I feel like, I'm watching a movie?...-
"FUCK YES! DID YA'LL HEAR THAT!? SHE SAID, 'YES'!!!" He screams from the top of his lung, making everyone cheer and hype them up. But the loudest one is our squad of course. -I wonder, how he would react when it was a marriage proposal, instead of a confession?-
Kim and Dash scream, while Lance, Kace and even Nath hype the couples up.
"I KNEW IT!"
"FINALLY! FUCK I AM SWEATING SO HARD RIGHT NOW!"
"HOLLY MOLLY!"
"GORDON BENNETT!"
"IMMA CRY RIGHT NOW!"
"CONGRATULATIONS!" I join the others with a smile.
"OH MY FREAKING BADDOOZLE!!!" Courtney and Blair storm towards Crystal, just to squeeze her tight.
Sam gets hyped by our Squad and School students.
I watch Amanda walk towards the couple to congratulate them. I'm happy for Sam and Crystal. Yet during the speech of my best friend, it made wish that it was me...who finally gets to date Amanda Miller.
