The One Where Jenna Finds Out

Emily didn't waste anytime as soon as she pulled into the driveway of the Salvatore boarding house before she jogged up the large porch and hurriedly pushed open the front door. The human doppelganger didn't get the chance to go searching for her aunt through the boarding house like she had wanted because as soon as she stepped over the threshold, Emily was placed into a tight hug by her twin sister.

"Thank God you're here," the Gilbert vampire mumbled breathlessly into her twin sister's chest with an added sigh of relief. Elena had been riddled with anxiety ever since she and Stefan had went over to the Gilbert house while Damon and Andie had done some research on Klaus - where they had seen the aforementioned hybrid with her aunt and Klaus had exposed hers and the Salvatore brothers secret identities. Elena tightened her hold that she had on her sister's waist as she remembered the terrified look that Jenna had gave her before she mumbled, "everything is all so screwed up, Emmie."

However, though, before the human doppelganger could ask her twin sister about what happened once they pulled away from each other, she was soon stopped when there was suddenly the sound of a swoosh of movement before she felt lips on hers. The younger Salvatore didn't care that he had just possibly ruined a moment between the two Gilbert girls as he pulled his girlfriend into a fierce and passionate kiss that was filled with all of his fears of losing her.

The kissing embrace between the Gilbert girl and the Salvatore vampire only lasted for about a minute or two before Stefan wrapped his arms tightly around Emily's shoulders as he brought her into his chest. Stefan breathed in the human girl's sweet scent that always calms him down before he murmured against Emily's temple, "hi."

It took a few moments for the human doppelganger to gain her barrings after the fast movements from her vampire boyfriend before she tilted her head up and placed a soft kiss onto Stefan's exposed collarbone. Emily knew that the younger Salvatore had been worried about her since she had been with Elijah all morning long, so the human girl stayed inside of his embrace as she gave him the time that he needed to see that she was okay before Emily mumbled back against Stefan's chest, "hi."

However, the calmness between the Gilbert girl and the Salvatore vampire didn't last as long as they would have liked - only about two full minutes - when Emily suddenly remembered what was going on and why she was at the boarding house right now. Emily had to force herself out of Stefan's tight embrace before she linked their fingers together as she knew Stefan just needed her touch right now. The human girl gave her boyfriend's hand a small squeeze before she glanced between the two vampires as she questioned, "where's Jenna?"

The Gilbert vampire released a heavy and emotional sigh before she mumbled as she pointed towards a pair of double doors, "she's in the study." Elena crossed her arms over her navy blue long sleeved shirt as she tiredly shook her head before she told her twin sister, "I tried to calm her down but I don't think it really helped much." The youngest vampire briefly closed her brown eyes as she mumbled with sadness all throughout her voice, "s-she's scared of me and probably hates me now after Klaus told her that I'm a vampire."

Emily released a small sigh as she watched the heartbreaking emotions flicker all over her twin sister's body as Elena tried to hold herself together from falling apart. "I know everything feels like like end of the Earth right now," the human girl stated before she gave Elena a soft smile and added, "but we're going to fix this like we always do. This is just a small setback, alright?"

Emily knew that their world was slowly cracking - even though she did try to assure her twin sister that everything would be okay. The human doppelganger wasn't even sure that everything would be okay but she knew that she needed to be the positive one and believe that they could fix everything like the whole sacrifice and Jenna situation since Elena looked like she was reaching her breaking point at this rate.

It just made Emily so upset that her aunt found out about the supernatural world from Klaus of all people. Emily would have liked to have kept her aunt out of their dangerous world forever but, sadly, she didn't get that option anymore. And to make matters even worse, if that was even possible, the hybrid told the strawberry blonde that one of her nieces is a vampire as well. Emily could only imagine what her aunt was going through right now.

The Gilbert vampire silently nodded her head as she trusted that her twin sister could figure this all out like Emily is always good at doing. Elena knew if anyone could talk Jenna through the supernatural world, it would most definitely be the last human Petrova doppelganger. "I-I just don't want her to hate me," Elena mumbled after a moment as that was what she was most afraid of happening ever since Klaus had exposed who she really is to her aunt Jenna.

"I'm like ninety-six percent sure that Jenna doesn't hate you," Emily assured her twin sister with a hint of joking in her voice as she tried to ease the tension before she stated in a serious voice when her sister didn't crack a smile like she usually would, "she's probably still scared after finding out that vampires are real."

The Gilbert girl shot her twin sister a pointed look as she recalled their own experience of knowing the existence of vampires. It was an emotional roller coaster to say the least with Elena being scared and Emily trying to keep her sister safe when she didn't know if she could trust either of the Salvatore brothers. "You remember what that was like when we first found out," Emily reminded the Gilbert vampire before she stated, "it's a lot to take in at one time."

Emily shot the youngest vampire a soft smile as she tried to help her sister calm down from her emotions before the human girl gently uttered some last minute comfort as she knew that she needed to speak to their aunt as soon as she could since there was an original waiting for her back at the Lockwood mansion, "we'll get through this, I promise."

The human doppelganger watched her twin sister's features soften by a tiny bit like she had hoped for from her assuring words before Emily turned her body around so she was back into her boyfriend's loving arms. Emily stood up on her tippy toes and placed a soft kiss onto Stefan's lips before she reminded the green eyed Salvatore, "I love you." The Gilbert girl knew that Stefan needed all the assurance that he could get right now with everything going to hell, so she hoped it helped Stefan relax his mind while she tried to handle this shit storm that the hybrid caused.

Emily gave her vampire boyfriend one last peck on the lips before she, once again, forced herself from Stefan's tight embrace and walked over to her twin sister. The human doppelganger squeezed the youngest vampire's shoulder as she stared into Elena's saddened brown eyes before she softly murmured, "everything's going to be okay." Emily then gave the two vampires one last assuring smile before she slowly headed towards the double doors of the study to confront their problem of the day.

Emily only took a short pause once she reached the doorknob as she took a deep breath and prepared herself for the emotional roller coaster that she was about to go through before she silently entered the study. "Hey, Jennie," the Gilbert girl softly greeted her aunt after she had closed the doors behind her before she cautiously approached her aunt as she tried to not frighten Jenna after what she had to experience with the dangerous hybrid.

The strawberry blonde woman slowly and shakily lifted her head from her hands from her spot on the leather couch before she stared at her second niece with tears shining throughout her hazel irises. Jenna stared across at the green eyed girl for a moment before she finally opened her mouth to say something but the only thing that would come out of the emotional woman's mouth was a loud and painful sob.

Emily's heart immediately broke at the sight of her usually confident and strong aunt. "Oh, Jenna," the human doppelganger mumbled in sadness before she walked over to the leather couch and took a seat beside her aunt - where she instantly pulled the sobbing strawberry blonde into her arms. "I'm so sorry," Emily apologized against her aunt's temple as she rocked Jenna back and forth.

The human doppelganger felt like this was her fault as she never ever wanted Jenna to have to go through the stress of knowing about vampires or any other supernatural creature for that matter. "I wish I could have protected you better," Emily mumbled as she squeezed her green irises closed as she believed that she could have done something, anything to stop this mess that Klaus created from happening. Maybe if I would have went home last night or if I didn't try to see what Elijah knew... Emily mentally scolded herself as she went through all the things that she could have done differently to stop the pain that her aunt was now going through.

The strawberry blonde woman immediately let out a strangle of cries as she tightened her hold around Emily's waist before she muttered against her niece's leather jacket with a sniffle of tears falling down her warm and reddened cheeks, "I-I'm the one that's supposed to be protecting you guys."

Emily gently shook her head against her aunt's temple before she murmured, "this was on us - on me." The human doppelganger stroked the length of Jenna's strawberry blonde hair as she stated with sadness and disappointment trailing through her voice, "I didn't want you to find out about vampires and have you put into any danger. I didn't want you to get hurt. I didn't want any of this for you."

Emily hated that this was what her aunt's life was coming to. The only thing that the Sommers woman should worry about is her assignments from college and if she should order tacos or make lasagna for dinner. It definitely shouldn't be whether a vampire is going to kill her the next time that she leaves the house. Emily hated that Jeremy had to deal with this, too, now it was even worse when Jenna had been in the dark for so long.

Jenna immediately shivered when her oldest niece mentioned the word 'vampires' before she instantly tightened her hold onto Emily's waist once more. "V-Vampires are r-real," the strawberry blonde stuttered out as she squeezed her hazel eyes closed while she tried to forget what happened less than an hour ago with Alaric - or with this Klaus guy that Elena had tried to explain to her.

Emily slowly pulled herself out of Jenna's tight embrace at the mention of vampires as she remembered why she was comforting her aunt right now. The Gilbert girl grabbed ahold of one of Jenna's hand to offer her aunt some type of comfort as she gazed into her aunt's hazel irises before she murmured, "I know, I know." Emily rubbed the top of her aunt's hand with the pad of her thumb before she began, "I know Elena tried to explain everything to you, but..."

However, though, before the Gilbert girl could even begin to explain the supernatural world to Jenna like she had attended to do so, the strawberry blonde woman tightly squeezed her hazel eyes closed as she hurriedly shook her head before she whispered at the mention of her other niece, "I-I can't be around her. S-She's a vampire."

Emily couldn't help but to furrow her brows at her aunt's words - one because it saddened her to know that Jenna was thinking that and two because Emily knew her twin sister was most likely listening in to their conversation right now. "Elena is still the same girl that you watched grow up, Jenna," the human doppelganger immediately defended her twin sister to her aunt as she hoped and prayed that she could get her aunt to understand that she didn't need to be afraid of Elena.

"Not a single thing has changed about Elena except for her diet," Emily told her aunt before she joked to, hopefully, ease a little bit of the tension, "she'll still eat what fast food you will pick up for dinner." The Gilbert girl released a small sigh when Jenna only squeezed her hand before Emily continued to defend her twin, "Elena is still the same loving and smiling girl that he saw today, yesterday, and everyday before that."

The human doppelganger stared at the side of the strawberry blonde woman's face for a moment before she lightly shook her head and stated with complete confidence in her voice, "you don't have to be afraid of Elena - nor Stefan and Damon." The Gilbert girl shot her aunt a small smile as she reminded Jenna, "they are good and you know that deep down in your heart."

Emily lightly shrugged her shoulders as she stated, "not all vampires are bad." The human girl knew that she needed to make sure that her aunt understood what she was saying, so she lost her smile and stared directly into her aunt's hazel eyes as she added, "but the ones like Klaus are the ones that you need to be worried about and always on guard around. Those are the ones that I've been trying to protect you from."

Emily let the information settle into her aunt's mind for a moment before she gave Jenna's hand a small squeeze to gain her attention back after about a minute or so had passed. "Trust me when I say, you do not have to be afraid of Elena," the human doppelganger reminded her aunt once more as she needed Jenna to understand that.

Emily had seen what her best friend, Caroline Forbes, had gone through with the sheriff when she found out that Caroline was a vampire and the human girl did not want Elena have to go through that with Jenna. It was the worse outcome possible, so if Emily could somehow convince the strawberry blonde that Elena was still the same girl then she would do whatever she could.

Jenna shook her head as she mumbled while she stared at her and Emily's connected hands, "I don't know what to believe anymore." The strawberry blonde released a humorless laugh as she stated, "I thought I knew what was real but apparently I was wrong." Jenna looked up at her oldest niece after a moment of silence had passed between them before she asked with tears in her hazel eyes, "how am I supposed to trust her?"

Emily immediately knew that her aunt was talking Elena without even have to say her name. The Gilbert girl gave Jenna a small smile as she squeezed her aunt's hand before she gently uttered, "just like you have been doing." Emily lightly shrugged her shoulders when Jenna gave her a disbelief look before she murmured, "everything's just still fresh in your mind after finding out about vampires. It'll take time like it did with all of us but you will come to understand everything and you'll see that Elena is still the same girl that you've loved all our lives."

The strawberry blonde, once again, shook her head as she still couldn't believe the situation that she found herself in. "I-I just don't understand anything," Jenna confessed before she told her oldest niece with disappointment and shame in her voice from not giving Elena a chance, "E-Elena tried to explain it... But I literally closed the door in her face." Jenna had just been so scared around Elena after Alaric or Klaus told her that her niece that she had been taking care of was an evil creature in the night that she didn't even give the young vampire a chance to explain anything.

"I know," Emily softly uttered before she told her aunt as she gave Jenna's hand another squeeze, "but, hey, it's alright." The Gilbert girl could tell that her aunt felt bad about how she reacted around Elena, so she informed the strawberry blonde, "Elena knows that you're just handling things your own way." Emily shot the strawberry blonde a small smile before she assured her, "don't worry, she's not mad at you. Elena just wants you to know that she's here for you."

Emily knew that her aunt was confused about everything since Elena hadn't had the chance to really explain anything so the human doppelganger offered, "and if you want, I can explain anything and everything to you." The Gilbert girl lightly shook her head as she stated, "I don't want there to be anymore lies in our family." The biggest issue in their family had always been the supernatural world but now that Jenna was involved, Emily figured there was no reason to lie anymore as she wanted to make sure her aunt was always prepared.

Jenna looked up into her oldest niece's kind and soft green eyes at the suggestion for a few moments as she weighed her options before she finally nodded her head with a heavy sigh. "I know I'll probably regret this with a years worth of nightmares but I-I think I need to know about everything." Jenna knew - even though she didn't know what she was walking into - it would be better to know everything there was to know about vampires and whatever else her nieces and nephew were hiding from her.

Emily shot her aunt an assuring smile and squeezed her hand as she silently tried to tell the strawberry blonde that everything would be okay. "Alright," the Gilbert girl sighed before she began the story of vampires, "so, the origin of vampires all began with a family called the originals..." Emily then told her aunt everything that she knew about vampires starting with the pieces of information about the originals that she had gotten from Rose, Katherine, Darina, and Elijah before she moved on to the topic of doppelgangers.

The topic of doppelgangers took the Gilbert girl awhile to explain and a bit longer for Jenna to understand with knowing that there had been a girl with her youngest niece's face walking around Mystic Falls and that Emily used to have a doppelganger as well. Jenna had always thought doppelganger was a made up tale, so it was definitely shocking to know that she had spoken to her niece's doppelganger when she thought it had been Elena.

The human Petrova doppelganger then moved onto the topic of the Salvatore brothers and their life here in Mystic Falls through the years from the eighteen hundreds until now. Emily spoke about the arrival of Katherine Pierce or Katerina Petrova - along with the brief knowledge that she had on Darina and the sisters' history in Bulgaria and England. Emily also mentioned the first Founder's Ball and what happened the night that the Salvatore brothers turned into vampires and how the brothers thought that Katherine had died in the fire and the history of the Fell church/tomb.

Emily then moved on as she told her aunt about Katherine's second arrival in Mystic Falls when she turned Caroline and Elena into vampires along with the death of Mason Lockwood. That was another topic that took longer than Emily had thought it would. The Gilbert girl always got emotional when she spoke about the Lockwood, so she knew it shouldn't be that surprising when she was still so heartbroken over his death.

The mention of Mason Lockwood also brought up the existence of werewolves - and where werewolves were, Emily also had to explain the existence of witches. Emily didn't really know all that much about how werewolves and witches became to exist but she felt like it was something that she had to explain to Jenna so she wouldn't be surprised in the future whenever she would be around Tyler or Bonnie or any other supernatural creature.

Emily then moved onto the smaller details like the other vampires that they had dealt with in the past before the feared hybrid showed up in the picture. It all seemed unimportant to the human doppelganger now that she said it out loud to her aunt, though, since Klaus had been their biggest and toughest challenge to date.

Finally, Emily moved onto their current situation with the feared hybrid and the sacrifice. However, though, the Gilbert girl slowly came to a stop when she was barely beginning to explain the whole sacrifice situation as she could see the stress in her aunt's hazel irises. Emily didn't want to completely fry Jenna's mind and ruin all of the progress that she made with centuries of knowledge about vampires and any other supernatural creatures. So, instead of explaining all that she knew about the sacrifice, Emily squeezed her aunt's hand before she murmured, "I think we should take a break for now."

The emotional strawberry blonde woman took a shakily deep breath before she simply nodded her head in exhaustion from everything that she had learned in just a few short hours. Jenna's mind hadn't even completely put together everything that Emily had told her just yet, so she knew that her oldest niece was right. Jenna knew if she was ever going to be okay again then it would probably be best to rest for a little while as she tried to absorb all this information about things that she would have never imagined would be real.

Emily gave her aunt's hand one last squeeze once she agreed to resting before she slowly released Jenna's limb and placed the strawberry blonde's legs onto the leather couch while Jenna moved her head to lean against a throw pillow on the armrest of the couch. The Gilbert girl grabbed a gray blanket that was on the back of the couch once her aunt was situated before she tossed it across Jenna's body.

"You're safe, Jenna," the human doppelganger softly whispered against her aunt's temple after she had placed a gentle and comforting kiss onto the strawberry blonde's forehead. "Everything is going to be just fine," Emily murmured before she told Jenna as she smoothed out the blanket across her aunt's body, "you just rest now, alright?"

The human Petrova doppelganger watched as Jenna slowly nodded her head in agreement before Emily moved to stand up. However, though, before Emily could move too far from the leather couch, Jenna hurriedly grabbed onto the Gilbert girl's hand with her frantic hazel irises widened. "I-I don't want to be alone," Jenna mumbled in fright as she was too scared to be alone after just finding out about the existence of vampires, witches, doppelgangers, and werewolves.

Emily gave her aunt a relaxed and calm smile before she softly murmured in understanding, "of course." The Gilbert girl rejoined her aunt as she sat on the hardwood floors on her knees before she grabbed ahold of her aunt's hand. Emily then began to hum a small tune that her mother used to sing to her, Elena, and Jeremy all throughout their childhood when they would have problems falling asleep.

It only took a few minutes of the Gilbert girl singing the soft tune before she watched as Jenna's hazel irises slowly closed. Emily stayed in her position on the hardwood floors for an extra three minutes until she was sure that Jenna was dead to the world and wouldn't be waking up anytime soon before Emily gently placed Jenna's hand onto the couch and slowly stood up from the ground.

Emily continued to watch her aunt for one more minute once she was standing up as she wanted to make sure that her aunt was going to be okay before she quietly turned around and took her exit out of the study at the Salvatore boarding house when Jenna looked at peace. The human doppelganger didn't make a peep until she had closed the double doors behind her and released an exhausted sigh from her trip through memory lane along with the fact that Jenna was officially dragged into their supernatural world.

Emily briefly squeezed her green eyes shut while she silently leaned her head back against the two doors behind her as she thought about the danger that they were putting Jenna in. The human doppelganger knew there was noway around it unless she wanted her aunt to end up dead but Emily just really wished that Jenna didn't have to worry about the stress of being involved in this life.

The Gilbert girl swiftly shook her head after a moment as she pushed herself out of her thoughts. Emily knew there was no reason to dwell on it now after Klaus did what he did, so Emily took a deep breath as she reminded herself that she just had to protect Jenna like she had been doing for her family before she slowly opened up her green eyes - where she instantly spotted her boyfriend and sister both standing a few feet away from her with tears in their eyes.

The two vampires and the human doppelganger stayed silent for about two minutes or so before the younger Salvatore was the first one to move as he closed the distance between Emily and himself. Stefan lightly placed his right hand onto the brunette girl's cheek and rubbed her smooth skin with the rough pad of his thumb before he softly asked, "how are you doing?"

Emily turned her head slightly to the side as she pushed her face further into the Salvatore vampire's cool hand as she tried to absorb all the comfort that she could from her boyfriend. The Gilbert girl stood like that for a moment or two before she finally pulled away and lightly shrugged her shoulders. "I'm fine," Emily mumbled as she answered Stefan's question before she stated, "I'm more worried for Jenna."

The Salvatore vampire silently nodded his head as he aimlessly played with the small fingers on Emily's left hand as he took in his girlfriend's words before he curiously wondered about the strawberry blonde woman, "and how is she doing?" Stefan could only imagine what was going through Jenna's mind right now after finding out about all of the things that has happened in their small town lately and the dangers that follow.

"I'm not sure," Emily mumbled with another shrug of her shoulders before she released another heavy sigh and stated, "I think she's just trying to understand it all right now. It's a lot to take in, so I don't expect her to be fine anytime soon." The Gilbert girl released a humorless laugh as she shook her head before she muttered bitterly, "I haven't even gotten to the juicy parts yet." It was true, though. Emily had barely started to touch the subject of the sacrifice and her possible death. I might need to bring a few bottles of wine before I tell Jenna about that story, the Gilbert girl thought to herself as she knew it was going to be a rough topic.

The Salvatore vampire silently nodded his head as he watched the sadness basically pour out of his girlfriend's facial features before he leaned his temple onto Emily's as he tried to show her some type of comfort during this difficult time. "We'll figure this out, I promise," Stefan assured his girlfriend before he placed a soft kiss onto Emily's forehead. "We'll keep Jenna safe," Stefan continued once he pulled his lips from the human girl's warm skin as he tried to stop any of the worries that Emily had, "I know you never wanted her to find out about all of this but I promise I'll do everything in my power to make sure that you and everyone stays safe."

Emily couldn't help the breath of relief that escaped through her lips by just hearing the Salvatore vampire say that. It helped calm Emily's erratic heart by a little bit as she only cared about making sure that Jenna didn't get hurt now that she's involved in this life. "Thank you," the human doppelganger showed her praise in a quiet whisper before she showed her gratitude by placing a kiss onto her boyfriend's soft lips. Emily just hoped that she - and everyone - would be able to keep her aunt safe from the dangers of being involved in the supernatural world and most importantly from Klaus going back after her.

The couple of the Gilbert girl and the Salvatore vampire silently migrated into each other's arms for an embrace that was filled with nothing but their love and the fears of what they would go through together. However, the tranquility between the couple didn't last as long as they would have hoped as the silent Gilbert vampire spoke up for the first time since Emily had spoken to their aunt. "Does...Does she hate me?" Elena nervously asked her twin sister as she anxiously played with her fingertips.

Emily's heart immediately broke at the sight of her sister and her sister's words. "Oh, Elena," the human doppelganger sighed out before she gave Stefan's waist a small squeeze as she walked around him. Emily walked up to her twin sister before she instantly wrapped Elena protectively in her arms as if she was trying to squeeze all of the bad thoughts away.

The Gilbert girl had one arm wrapped around Elena's skull and the other over the vampire's shoulders before Emily assured her twin sister, "Jenna could never hate you." Emily gave the youngest vampire's shoulder a short squeeze when she could feel her sister quiver in her arms before Emily continued to explain, "she just didn't know what to think. She's scared, yes, but she couldn't and would never hate you." Emily placed a comforting kiss onto her sister's temple before she stated, "it'll take time and I know it'll suck but she'll talk to you when she's ready, alright?"

The Gilbert vampire released a small sigh into her sister's neck as she nodded her head. Elena was still worried about how her aunt would be around her - despite Emily's comforting words. It did help a little bit, though. It reminded Elena that everything wasn't just going to go back to normal like in some cheesy family movie. Elena was just afraid that Jenna would end up hating her how the Sheriff was around Caroline. The Gilbert vampire didn't know what she would do if she didn't have her aunt by her side.

"Everything's just so screwed up," Elena told her twin sister in a mumble after a moment of silence had passed between them while she tightened her hold onto Emily's waist.

"I know," Emily mumbled back before she slowly pulled away from her sister's tight embrace. The Gilbert girl placed her hands onto Elena's cheeks with a soft smile adoring her face before she promised, "but we'll fix this, too, like we've fixed everything else." Emily shot her sister one last comforting smile before she took a step back and faced both of the vampires with a slight nervousness to her green eyes to what she was about to tell them. "And to fix this..." Emily mumbled before she stated in a smaller voice, "I need to go."

The foyer of the Salvatore boarding house was only silent for about a half of a minute before Stefan hurriedly asked in confusion, "wait, what?" The green eyed vampire took a quick glance over to Elena to make sure that she had heard the same thing before he faced his girlfriend and continued to confusingly ask, "what are you talking about?"

Emily released a small sigh as she knew that they weren't going to be happy with her choice before she confessed to the two very puzzled vampires, "I need to get back to Elijah."

The Gilbert vampire instantly shook her head as she exclaimed, "uh, I don't think so!" There was no way that Elena was just going to let her twin sister go back to that original with everything going on with Jenna thanks to Klaus. Besides, Emily was their only way for Jenna to speak to them right now since she didn't feel comfortable around vampires yet - along with the fact that Elena wasn't exactly trusting of Elijah anymore.

"Elena's right," the Salvatore vampire stated before he slowly walked up to his girlfriend. Stefan grabbed ahold of the human girl's hand with both of his and brought them to his chest before he murmured with strong emotions clouding his green irises, "we just got you back. I can't and I won't lose you." Stefan had been a nervous wreck ever since that phone call with Emily this morning when he found out that she was with Elijah. Stefan didn't think he could handle it a second time if Emily left with the original - especially when he had her wrapped in his arms.

Emily released a heavy sigh as she stared at the two vampires who didn't want her to leave the boarding house. The Gilbert girl knew this would end up happening since it was the reason why she didn't tell anyone that she was going to wake Elijah in the first place. Emily knew that they had stopped trusting the original a long time ago but Emily wasn't going to let them stop her when she was so close to getting on the answers that she had been wanting for so long.

The human Petrova doppelganger gave her vampire boyfriend's hand the tightest squeeze that she could offer before she glanced between her boyfriend and twin sister. "I have to go back to Elijah," the Gilbert finally told them after she had gave each vampire a look filled with determination and pleading for them to let her go, "I made a promise and you guys know I never break my promises."

The foyer in the Salvatore boarding house was silent for a full tense two minutes while the three teenagers stared at one another before Stefan quietly murmured in agreement, "okay." The Salvatore vampire was completely against the idea of Emily going back to Elijah - despite what he had just uttered. Stefan knew there was a list of possible bad things that could happen while Emily was alone with the original but there was just one thing stopping him from locking in her in his arms and never letting go.

It was the fact that Stefan trusted the Gilbert girl with his entire being. The Salvatore vampire knew that Emily wouldn't be going back to Elijah if she didn't think it was safe. Stefan trusted that Emily knew what she was doing, so - despite his fears of what the original vampire could do to his girlfriend - he was willing to accept what the Gilbert girl had to do no matter how much stress that he knew it would put him under.

The green eyed vampire pulled the human girl further into his arms with his hands still holding onto Emily's before he placed a passionate filled kiss onto her soft lips. Stefan slowly pulled away after a full minute of Emily's fast heart rate before he whispered against her lips, "call me if you need me for anything."

Emily immediately nodded her head as she didn't want to worry her boyfriend even more than she probably already was as she whispered right back, "I promise."

However, though, before Emily could seal their deal with another kiss, she was soon interrupted by her twin sister when Elena hurriedly exclaimed, "no! You can't go!" The Gilbert vampire didn't know what the hell Stefan was thinking about agreeing with her sister but she wouldn't. Elena didn't trust Elijah anymore and she was not willing to bet her sister's life as she didn't believe that the original would keep her safe. Elena would rather her twin sister be at the boarding house instead of the chance of the original hurting Emily.

The Gilbert girl released a small and sad sigh as she stared across at her twin sister - who had tears and anger in her brown irises. Emily moved to walk up to the young vampire to try to assure Elena that everything was going to be okay. However, before the human doppelganger could even take a full step, the older Salvatore walked into the foyer with their close friend, Andie Star, walking right behind him.

The blue eyed Salvatore walked up to his girlfriend and tossed his arm over Elena's shoulder before he glanced around the tense foyer. "What's going on here?" Damon wondered before he swiftly pointed towards the human girl, who he hadn't even known was here, and commanded with his blue irises squinted, "and you, give me back my car keys, missy."

While everyone completely ignored Damon's whining about his car keys, the Gilbert vampire told her boyfriend what the issue was with anger and sadness clouding her voice, "she wants to go back to Elijah." The Gilbert vampire wasn't angry at her twin sister like her voice betrayed. Elena was more angry at the situation that they were in. She hated that this what their life has come to and the fact that she hated that her twin sister was still so willing to trust Elijah like this when her life is at stake.

The older Salvatore's body instantly turned rigid at this piece of information before he immediately yelled out, "hell no!" Damon swiftly shook his head as he stared at the human girl before he exclaimed, "no! We just got you back." Damon, despite how he acted sometimes, did truly care about Emily. It wasn't just because she was Elena's sister. Damon had come to truly care about the human girl like if he had a sister of his own, so he didn't want anything to happen to her like he knew would happen if Emily went back to the original, who he didn't even trust.

Emily released another sigh as she realized it was another person who wasn't on board with her plan - but it wasn't like she was expecting anything less when it came to the older Salvatore. The Gilbert girl shook her head as she stared at the blue eyed vampire before she simply told him in a strong and confident, "I'm leaving, Damon."

Emily turned around to finally leave the Salvatore boarding house and get back to Elijah but she was, of course, stopped as Damon vamp sped behind her before he swiftly grabbed ahold of her arm. "You aren't going anywhere," the older Salvatore growled out as he glared down at the human girl.

"Elijah is going to end up hurting you or he's going to take you to Klaus or something worse," the Gilbert vampire told her twin sister as she crossed her arms over her navy blue top. Elena slowly shook her head as she stared into Emily's fierce green eyes before she mumbled her choice in the matter, "I can't let you leave."

Emily ignored her sister's words for the time being as she tried to fight herself out of Damon's grip but it was a little too tight for her human strength. The Gilbert girl knew that she wasn't going to be able to get out the vampire's hold, so she shot Damon a hateful glare before she faced her twin sister to hopefully get Elena to understand her side and why she was doing this.

"Elena, you know why I need to do this," Emily cried out to her twin before she explained, "Klaus is going to hurt everyone we all care about." Emily knew that was the way to her sister's heart as she knew Elena's very protective over her loved ones just like she is. The Gilbert girl glanced at each vampire around the room - plus Andie - before she added, "I know Elijah has another way around this. I trust him."

Damon instantly released a loud and humorless chuckle at the human girl's statement. "You can't trust him!" The older Salvatore shouted in annoyance before he tightened his grip on Emily's upper arm so she won't be able to escape him. "You aren't leaving my sight," the blue eyed vampire growled out before he began to pull Emily towards the living room to babysit the human girl.

"Let me go, you asshat," the human Petrova doppelganger shouted as she quickly tried to pull herself away from Damon's tight grip before she got too far from the front door of the boarding house. Emily knew if she got into the living room then there was noway that she would be able to escape three very protective vampires.

The Gilbert girl continued to struggle for about a minute or so as she dug her sneakers into the hardwood floors while she tried to fight the older Salvatore's tight grip. However, when Emily suddenly released a cry filled with pain, Stefan swiftly vamp sped up to his brother before he grabbed ahold of Damon's shoulder in a strong grip. "Release her right now," the older Salvatore protectively growled out as he couldn't stand the sight or thought of seeing his girlfriend in any type of pain.

Damon looked at his brother like he had officially gone crazy like he had always thought would happen over their years of existence. "You're joking, right?" The older Salvatore questioned with a raised eyebrow. However, when Damon only got a glare from his brother, he glared right back before he angrily shouted with a hint of frustration in voice, "act like a good boyfriend, Stefan, and make her sit her ass down!" Damon was completely done with the couple of Emily and Stefan at this point. He felt like he and Elena were the only ones that were taking everything seriously when it came to the human girl's safety right now.

"I am being a good boyfriend," Stefan stated as he tightened his hold onto Damon's shoulder from that small jab at his and Emily's relationship. Stefan took a deep breath to control his emotions before he told his brother in a calm voice for the reason why he was letting his girlfriend go back to the original, "I'm trusting her. I trust that she knows what she's doing and that she will come back to us."

Stefan felt acid in his mouth as the words came out. It wasn't that Stefan didn't trust Emily - he did - it was just the fact that he was allowing Emily to go back into the original's arms. The younger Salvatore didn't know what it was but he hated when Elijah was around the human girl. Elijah just gave off this bad vibe that always tightened Stefan's throat when he saw the original look at his girlfriend. However, Stefan trusted Emily one hundred percent, so he knew that he had to hold his tongue and wait for Emily on the sidelines whenever she's ready to be rescued - even though he knew Emily never did need saving.

The foyer of the Salvatore boarding house grew tense with silence for a few minutes as Emily and Damon glared at one another with Stefan glaring at his brother and Elena expressionless before the youngest vampire's shoulders slowly relaxed and released a heavy sigh when she realized that her twin sister was right. Elena knew if anyone could find another way around the sacrifice, then it would be the strong and confident Emily Gilbert.

However, the reason why Elena had previously been against her twin sister going back to Elijah was because she was just scared to lose her twin sister. Elena was scared that after the shit storm that Klaus had created by exposing the supernatural world to Jenna that somehow he would ruin another important person in her life - her twin sister.

"Let her go, Damon," the Gilbert vampire finally commanded in a whisper to her boyfriend as she stared directly into her twin sister's green irises with a look of understanding in her brown ones. Elena, even though she didn't like the fact that her sister would be going back to Elijah, trusted that Emily knew what she was doing and why she was going back.

The older Salvatore swiftly moved his blue irises over to his girlfriend with his eyes widened in shock to what he just heard come out of Elena's mouth. "You too?" Damon asked with an irritated growl before he snapped as he pointed at the human girl, "this is your sister, Elena!" The Salvatore vampire shook his head in disbelief that everyone was okay with Emily going back to the original before he continued with his rant as he shouted, "Elijah could hurt her or take her to Klaus for all we know!"

The Gilbert vampire slowly shook her head while she anxiously bit down on her bottom lip from getting yelled at by her boyfriend for the first time in their relationship. Elena took a deep breath to calm her nerves before she murmured, "I trust Emily." The Gilbert vampire slightly shrugged her shoulders as she told her boyfriend, "and if she says that she has to go back Elijah, then we'll see her when she comes home."

Elena, like Stefan, absolutely hated the idea of watching her sister walk through the front door and go back to the original. However, she knew that she needed to trust that Emily knew what she was doing - along with the fact that they were supposed to be not completely controlling over the human doppelganger's life anymore. Elena knew that if she was in her sister's situation right now then she would do everything in her power to protect her family and friends just like Emily was trying to do.

A loud growl rippled through the older Salvatore vampire's chest at the fact that it was now one against three. Damon was absolutely pissed that everyone was willing to let Emily go back to the original that he didn't notice that he tightened his hand around the human girl's upper arm and that Emily's arm was beginning to turn white as a ghost.

"D-Damon," the nervous voice of Mystic Falls' famous news reporter mumbled before she suggested to the angry vampire as she could tell that the Gilbert girl was in pain from the way that her face was scrunched up, "m-maybe you should let her go."

"Stay out of this, Andie," the older Salvatore snapped at the news reporter before he, once again, tightened his grip around Emily's upper arm, and began to pull her towards the living room like he had been trying to do to keep her under his watch for now on since he was the only one with actual brain cells today.

"Please, Damon," the human Petrova doppelganger begged with tears clouding her green eyes as she hurriedly fought the older vampire's strong grasp. Emily honestly didn't know what to say to convince Damon that she needed to do this, so she just continued to fight the vampire's hand around her arm before she softly murmured as she tried to connect to Damon, "trust me, please. I can handle myself."

Damon stopped pulling onto the Gilbert girl's arm when he could feel the emotions pouring from her words before he stared down into Emily's soft green eyes. The older Salvatore gazed at the young human for a moment or so before he leaned down and placed his forehead on top of Emily's head. "I'm sorry," Damon apologized before he whispered, "but I can't risk it." Damon would rather the Gilbert girl go back to hating him again - even though they barely made up - if it meant that one of the people in his life, who he saw as a friend or a little sister didn't get hurt by going back to the original vampire.

"Damon!" The human Petrova doppelganger snapped in frustration when she realized that she wasn't getting anywhere with the older Salvatore. The Gilbert girl pulled with all her might to get out Damon's tight grasp, once again, before she shouted, "I need to go!" Emily didn't know how long Elijah was willing to wait for her before he thought she was betraying him again and she didn't want to test that right now when she was so close to all the answers that she has been hoping for.

"Dam," the Gilbert vampire softly murmured as she called out to her boyfriend. However, when Damon continued to stare at Emily with an emotionless glare that she knew was hiding his true emotions and worries, Elena walked up to her boyfriend before she wrapped her fingers around Damon's bicep and forced her boyfriend away from her twin sister.

The older Salvatore immediately pushed himself out of Elena's grasp and glared at everyone in the room before he shouted, "don't come crying to me when Emily's dead." Damon then gave the human girl one last look that was filled with his worry for her safety before he swiftly stormed out of the room as he grumbled about stupid originals - Damon's words.

The foyer at the Salvatore boarding house instantly became dead silent after the oldest vampire's temper tantrum before Elena quietly mumbled, "he's just angry right now." The Gilbert vampire looked into her twin sister's green eyes as she stated with a small shake of her head, "he didn't mean any of that."

Emily gave her twin sister a tiny smile before she softly murmured back, "I know." The Gilbert girl didn't take what Damon said to heart. She knew he was just angry like her sister said and the fact that he's never been the best at showing how he really feels. Emily lightly shrugged her shoulders before she added with a small chuckle, "it's just how he shows he cares, I know." The human doppelganger gave Elena an assuring grin as she teasingly told her sister, "You don't have to worry. I don't hate him again."

The Gilbert vampire ignored her twin sister's teasing as she defended her hothead of a boyfriend, "it's just hard for him to understand why you're so willing to go back to Elijah." It had taken Elena herself a little while to understand why her sister was going back to the original but she and Emily thought a lot alike, so she knew why better than Damon could ever understand. They were both about protecting their loved ones and that was exactly what Emily was trying to do by going back to Elijah. The Gilbert vampire just reminded herself to keep a careful eye on her twin and the original more often since she wasn't willing to trust original again just yet.

"I know," Emily softly told her twin sister. The human girl walked up to the youngest vampire before she gave Elena's hand a small squeeze and added in the same soft tone, "it's okay." Emily honestly didn't take what Damon had said about her to heart but she knew Elena was just worried - probably about everything at this point.

The Gilbert girl stared at her vampire twin sister for a few more moments as she made sure that her sister could see that she wasn't upset by Damon's words before she slowly glanced between the two vampires and the news reporter. Emily released a small sigh before she uttered the words that everyone was dreading, "I...I should probably get going."

The words had barely escaped the human girl's mouth before Elena had vamp sped straight into her twin sister's arms for a tight and emotional hug. "Please be careful," the Gilbert vampire pleaded with unshed tears shining throughout her brown eyes. "I can't lose you," Elena softly added as she squeezed her twin sister's waist as if she afraid to let go.

"You won't," Emily immediately promised as she knew how worried that her twin sister could get before she hugged the youngest vampire back but not as tightly since she was the human one. The Gilbert sisters stayed in that position for a few moments of peacefulness before Emily pulled away with a playful glint to her green irises. "Keep our boy calm while I'm gone," the human girl teased her sister about her temper-filled boyfriend with a small wink.

Elena released a small chuckle for the first time all day before she told her twin sister with amusement shining throughout her voice from the idea of controlling the older Salvatore, "I'll try." The Gilbert vampire gazed at Emily with a soft smile as if she was trying to remember all of her sister's facial features before she leaned down and placed a feather-like kiss onto Emily's forehead. "I love you," Elena whispered to her twin before she vamp sped away to find her very angry boyfriend. The Gilbert vampire knew that if she didn't force herself to leave her sister's side then she would end up locking Emily up like Cinderella to protect her.

Emily couldn't help but to release her own chuckle when she realized that her sister wasn't in front of her anymore. "I love you, too!" The human doppelganger shouted throughout the Salvatore boarding house since the youngest vampire didn't give her a chance to say it back. Emily glanced back towards the last two people in the room once the house grew silent - where she noticed Andie walking up to her.

"You doing alright, sweetheart?" The famous Mystic Falls news reporter softly asked as she rubbed the spot on Emily's arm from where the older Salvatore had grabbed her.

Emily shot the older woman a small smile before she stated, "I'm fine." The Gilbert girl then twitched her head to the side when she noticed that Andie looked like she was supposed to be on live TV at the moment by her makeup and tailored clothing before she curiously wondered, "you heading out to work?"

Andie nodded her head before she explained why she was at the boarding house, "I was here dropping off some files this morning when the guys realized that you were missing." The news reporter lightly shrugged her shoulders as she added, "I came back an hour ago to see how you were doing before I head back to the studio."

Emily smiled at the newswoman before she murmured, "that's nice of you, Andie." The Gilbert girl appreciated that the older woman had stopped by to check on her. It only been a few weeks since Jenna had introduced the newswoman to their group of supernatural beings and she was practically family now. "Thank you," Emily showed her praise for Andie before she uttered with a small shake of her head, "but I'm doing fine."

The newswoman shot the teenage girl a wide grin before she commented as she rubbed across the human girl's arm, "I'm glad, sweetheart." However, while Andie was rubbing across Emily's arm, she caught the time on her silver watch and realized that her break was over with. "I should really get going," Andie stated as she gave Emily an apologetic smile before she told the young girl, "but give me a call if you need anything."

"I will," the Gilbert girl promised with another smile before she waved at the newswoman as she stated, "I'll see you later."

"Alright," Andie murmured as she was glad that the teenage girl would give her a call if she needed anything later on before she murmured, "bye." The newswoman gave the couple of Emily and Stefan another smile and murmured, "stay safe," before she quickly jogged her way out of the Salvatore boarding house.

Emily waited until the front door of the boarding house was closed by the newswoman before she turned around and faced her boyfriend. The human girl and the Salvatore vampire stared at one another for a minute or so as they migrated towards each other before Emily asked as she gently played with the tip of Stefan's fingertips, "you doing okay?"

Emily knew that the younger Salvatore was worried about her and the situation that she found herself - even though he didn't argue with her choice of going back to Elijah. The Gilbert girl couldn't help but to be worried about her boyfriend when she was the one hanging around an original as she didn't like when he was anxious about her safety, so Emily hoped that she could help ease the stress that the vampire feels before she had to leave the boarding house.

The Salvatore vampire slowly slipped his fingers through Emily's until their hands were locked together before he whispered with a hint of amusement in his voice, "I should be the one asking you that."

Emily lightly shrugged her shoulders before she joked like she usually does when she's in a tough situation, "I'm used to walking into danger." The Gilbert girl shot her boyfriend a small smile when Stefan playfully glared her before she asked in a serious voice as she was worried about him, "how are you doing?" Emily knew how much stress the vampire always put on himself whenever the new baddie comes to Mystic Falls from trying to protect her so she wanted to make sure that her boyfriend was alright.

Stefan gave the hand of his girlfriend's that he was holding a tight-but-not-too-tight squeeze while he trailed his free hand softly across the human girl's cheek as if he was observing her beauty like a French painting before he murmured with his green eyes locked with Emily's bright ones, "I'll feel much better once you are back in my arms."

The Gilbert girl squeezed her boyfriend's hand back with a soft smile playing on her lips before she murmured, "well, I should get going then, so I can make that come true." Emily shot the Salvatore vampire one last smile as she gazed at his soft and relaxed features before she forced her body away from Stefan's and turned to leave the boarding house.

However, though, before Emily could even twist her body fully around and take one step, the Salvatore vampire quickly called out, "wait!" There really was no point in Stefan calling out to the human girl before he swiftly and softly grabbed ahold of Emily's arm and pulled her into a tight embrace as he whispered, "just wait." Stefan just couldn't let the Gilbert girl walk away from him just yet when he barely even gotten to see her with everything going on. The Salvatore vampire needed a few moments with the love of his life before he could let her go back to the original if only to feel her calm heartbeat against his chest.

Stefan held his girlfriend tightly in his arms for a full three minutes as he listened to her breathing and absorbed her sweet scent that always reminded the vampire of fresh strawberries before he mumbled against Emily's temple, "be careful with Elijah." The Salvatore vampire pulled away just a little bit so he could look into his favorite pair of eyes before he continued, "I know you think you can trust him but just keep your guard up."

Emily immediately nodded her head as she stared into Stefan's forest green irises before she placed her head back against his cool chest and murmured in agreement, "I will." The Gilbert girl knew that the younger Salvatore, like everyone else, didn't trust the original. However, Emily appreciated that Stefan was willing to trust her and her judgement to go back to Elijah when he could have made her stay at the boarding house like Damon had wanted. It meant a lot to Emily because it meant that the younger Salvatore was letting her make her own decisions and isn't trying to control her life like she had always wanted from the supernatural beings that were trying to protect her.

The Salvatore vampire instantly breathed out a small sigh of relief as it felt good to actually hear those words out loud - that Emily was going to be careful and cautious around the original. Stefan pulled the human girl back into his tight embrace for another minute or so before he spoke up once more. "If anything happens, call me," the Salvatore vampire requested before he released a small chuckle and added, "hell, shout out for me and I'll still come find you. Always." Stefan placed a kiss onto Emily's temple before he repeated in a soft whisper, "always."

"I will," the Gilbert girl immediately promised once more as she tried to wash away her boyfriend's worries. Emily looked up into the vampire's green eyes before she stated to assure her boyfriend, "but everything is going to be okay." The human doppelganger nodded her head as she added, "I'll be okay."

The Gilbert girl kept her green irises locked with the Salvatore vampire's darker ones for about a minute or so before she whispered, "the Lockwood's." The human Petrova doppelganger watched as many emotions flickered across Stefan's face from confusion to understanding before they settled on surprise with his green eyes widened. Emily couldn't help but chuckle in amusement before she grew serious as she explained with a small shrug of her shoulders, "I know you won't come because you trust me but I want you to know where I will be."

Emily knew that she could trust her boyfriend with her location - unlike her sister and Damon, who would come storming in and take her away if they knew where she would be going to meet with the original. The Gilbert girl also told the younger Salvatore her location was because she wanted to help ease his worrying that she knew that was going through his mind right now.

"Thank you," Stefan softly whispered as he gazed into his girlfriend's bright green eyes. It meant the absolute world to the Salvatore vampire that Emily was willing to trust him with her location. Stefan knew that the human girl didn't have to and he knew that she did it for his sake, so he was extremely grateful as it helped calm his anxiety by knowing where she was going to be with the original.

The Gilbert girl nodded her head with a small smile playing on her lips. "Of course," Emily murmured before she loosely wrapped her arms around the Salvatore vampire's neck and pulled him into a passionate and meaningful kiss. "I love you," the human doppelganger murmured against Stefan's lips once she pulled away from their loving embrace before she promised, "I'll be back as soon as I can."

Stefan subconsciously tightened his hold on his girlfriend's waist at the mention of her leaving but didn't comment on it. Instead, the Salvatore vampire placed a soft kiss onto Emily's lips before he murmured back, "I love you, too, always."

Emily couldn't help the wide smile that lifted onto her lips as she always loved hearing the vampire utter those three little words to her. "Always," the Gilbert girl whispered right back against Stefan's lips before she placed one last kiss onto her boyfriend's mouth. Emily shot the Salvatore vampire a small but emotional filled smile once she pulled away before she forced herself out of Stefan's warm embrace and headed out of the Salvatore boarding house.

The Gilbert girl couldn't help but release a heavy sigh once she was standing in the cool air right outside the boarding house and she was all alone. Emily hadn't really had the chance to realize how she was feeling about everything that was going on with the Jenna situation of talking her aunt through the supernatural history. It wasn't only that that Emily hadn't absorbed, either. It was also the fact that Damon was pissed at her and her twin wasn't exactly happy with her decision to go back to the original - even though she agreed and saw why she was doing this.

However, Emily knew that everything that had to deal with her family and the older Salvatore would have to be put on the back burner for now as she thought about Elijah. The human Petrova doppelganger knew that she needed to focus back onto the original as she headed to Damon's car. Emily needed to know more about Klaus, the sacrifice, and Darina - and she wasn't going to stop until she got all the answers to survive the dangerous hybrid.

Guysssss, while I was writing this chapter, I came up with a scene for during the sacrifice. You might hate who I have decided to kill in the sacrifice but I feel like it's important to Emily's journey of becoming a Radkova witch and the true cruelty of life.
