I think I spent 5 good minutes looking at him thinking if he was joking or not
"Umar" I said
"Hameeda"
"You're not ok, I can't marry you, you're Umar Kashim!" I bluntly said
He frowned at me a little "and you're Hameeda Yusuf" he said
"You have to be joking" I said
He gave me a look that said 'have a ever joked with you'
He stood up and he took his car keys "let's go"
"Oh My God, he's serious!" I told myself but I know he heard me
"So you rather marry Sanusi?" He asked
"Of course not! It's just that...oh My God, Umar you're not understanding this, what are you doing?!"
He stood by the door waiting for me to come out, I carefully stood up and I went out the door
"Umar" I said
He motioned for me to go out first with him behind me
We went down the elevator and outside the building
We did get a lot of stares
When we reached outside, a car was parked which I guess should be Umar's
A driver was standing in front of it, Umar gave him the key and he entered
Umar entered too and I slowly entered the back seat with him
The driver started driving
I turned to look at Umar "Umar, I'm not some charity case, you don't have to do this to yourself"
"I know what I'm doing" he said
"Oh My God, Umar you want to ruin both our lives" I said
He ignored me
"I left my car in your office" I added
He nodded before he picked up his phone and he dialed a number
"Edward, meet us at the junction, now" he said and he hung up
"Is the car key with you?" He asked
I nodded and I handed it over to him
He collected it and he tapped the driver's shoulder "Chris, stop"
The car immediately stopped
It's like everyone takes orders from him like food
After a minute or two
Out of no where a bulky guy appeared by the side of my window
I shrieked as I moved closer to Umar
The window rolled down and Umar handed him the key "bring her car to her house"
The guy nodded and he left
Chris started driving again
I turned to Umar "there are many cars there, how would he find mind" I asked
"He'll figure it out" he said
"And how does he know my house?" I asked
Umar shrugged as he scrolled through his phone
Before I knew it we were at my house
My eyes closed
I opened them and I turned to Umar
"Ok, so you're going to meet my father in a suit?" I asked
He shrugged "seems like it"
"Ok, this has been the weirdest week of my life" i said as I went out of the car
He also came out
And I walked towards the gate with Umar behind me
I saw Baba's driver so I knew he was home
We walked into the house and I took us straight to Baba's living room
Baba was sitting on the couch he normally sits on
I salamed and I entered followed by Umar
Baba turned to us looking confused
Umar sat on the other couch facing Baba
And well...I just found my self a space to sit on the carpet
Baba seems to have known Umar because they exchanged greetings and they entered a conversation that I don't even know what's about
When they finished their chit chats Baba turned to me waiting for an explanation
"Ba-..Baba, he's th-..the suitor I have" I said
This sounds really ridiculous
He turned to Umar "oh really, already?"
"Then would like to give us some space to talk" Baba said to me
I nodded and I rushed out of the living room
I ran into my room to see Rumaisa, Rabi'ah and Stephanie right where I left them
Are they even humans
"So all this time you guys have been here?" I asked
"Yeah, where have you been?" Rabi'ah asked
"Uh..somewhere"
"Why is there a mark that looks like a slap on your face?" She asked
"Can we not talk about my face right now, what were you people talking about before I came in"
"Umar Kashim" Stephanie chirped in
"Oh My God, No, you guys no, no, no, not today not right now" I said
"This girl has mood swings mehn" Rabia'ah said
"You people shouldn't get me wrong but he's so fine" Stephanie said
"Are you people even serious?" They ignored me and they kept talking
"I know right, and I love how if he gets a new girlfriend he keeps it low key, the world won't know about her, even when they break up people won't know her" Rumaisa said
"Well except for Nafisa" Rumaisa added with a frown on her face
"That one is just different, I hate her" Rabi'ah said
"Me too Wallahi"
I wanted to ask who Nafisa was but I knew that would just bring another Umar talk
So I just said "Oh My God"
"If I get a Thousand Naira every time Hameeca says 'Oh My God' I'll be one of the richest people in Nigeria by now" Rabia'ah said
They nodded in agreement
Then they continued talking about Umar
"If I tell you guys this, will you stop talking about him?" I asked
"What?" They asked at the sane time
"He's in the living room with Baba" I said
I shouldn't have said that
"Oh hell no" Rabi'ah said
"You're lying" Stephanie and Rumaisa said
"Ku kuka sani, now please talk about something else" I said as I picked up my phone, trying not to think of the conversation baba and Umar were having now
"You can't expect to tell us this and expect us to stop talking about him, what brings him here, and most importantly, why is he talking to your father?" Rabi'ah asked
"I don't know"
My phone rang and I saw Umar calling so I ran to the living room leaving three questioning girls behind
Surprisingly I walked into the living room to see Baba smiling
Well, it seems unusual
I sat down on my usual spot
"I've talked with Umar, you two are getting married on Friday after Juma'ah prayer, the initial day your marriage was supposed to take place, his family are coming tomorrow" Baba said
So
Let me just say this
When Umar started the whole talk about this marriage thing, of course I was shocked, but what shocked me more is that, it's actually becoming true
How did this escalate so quickly??
I nodded at Baba and I stood up and I left the room
I could hear Umar exchanging greetings with Baba before he came out
I don't think I can ever look at this guy ever again in my life
What the hell
How can I be marrying him??
"So you're just going to go home and tell your family you're getting married on Friday?" I asked
"Yeah" he said
I escorted him out the door "what the hell did we just do"
He shrugged
"Why don't you seem terrified of marrying me but you seemed terrified of marrying sanusi?" He asked
I knew he was teasing me but there wasn't a single trace of smile on his face
I rolled my eyes at him "is that even a question? At least you can't give birth to me"
"Ok then, good bye Hameeda"
"Goodbye Umar"
He turned and he walked out of the gate
That's when I noticed the gateman coming towards me with my car key
That's when I noticed my car was parked at its original place in the garage
I smiled to myself and I collected the key
I stood outside and I let out a sigh
This feels so unreal and ridiculous
I went back into the house and back to my room only to be bombarded with questions
I sat down as I calmed down my breath
"Uh...you guys, I'm not marrying sanusi anymore" I told them
How casually I said that made a chuckle erupt from my lips
They they turned to me with a confused expression
"I'm marrying Umar" I said
"What the F**k?"
