7 weeks before....
"Zoe! We are going to a club! The Zodiac to be exact!" Tia said while shaking my body.
Tia, my best friend since high school. I met her in my art class and we just shared a joke about our balding teacher and poof! We become inseperable since then.
We are living in two different worlds. She was born rich and I worked part-time jobs to get me and my adoptive mother to survive each month by joining our income.
"What?! OMG for real? It is like the hottest and most exclusive club in NY! how did you get an invite?" I said and still not believing to what she said to me.
"Pulled some strings at work! My co-worker knows someone from the club and then I did some of my charm to get an invite!" She said by winking at me while boasting her skills.
"So get your ass up! We have to buy THE killer dress for tonight!" Tia said with excitement
"You know that I'm broke so I'll just mix and match some of my outfits!" I said shyly.
"No no no! You will not mix and match outfits for this club! I will not let you! I will buy you THE killer outfit, no buts." She grabbed my hand and started pulling me out of the room.
"Let me buy you this dress, besides it is a gift for your birthday that I missed because of my bitchy boss!" she said with a "nah-ah" stare that I cannot refuse.
"Ok. Just this once!" I warned Tia and she just nodded her head in agreement.
"Thank you! You're the best!" I bear hugged Tia, thanking her.
It is nice to be rich. Burning your credit card limit and buying expensive things and not worrying about your rent and food for the next month. Ahhh the life!

We went to Saks Fifth Avenue; Tia's favorite shop.
So that we could buy THE killer dress for tonight. I went inside and hid the unconfortable feeling inside me.
The place was screaming EXPENSIVE and LUXURY!
I started roaming around the place when I found a rack with decent looking dresses.
I looked for a dress in a rack and I saw the price tag for a holy-mother of $2000+ for a piece of dress.
I walked around to find a much cheaper dress but NADA I can not find a dress worth $40.
I walked towards the dressing that Tia went into. I let her know that I was going in and she opened the curtain.
"Can we just buy from a much cheaper store? You know I'm much ok with that!" I peeked inside the dressing room and whispered to Tia.
She just looked at me and continue to try some of the dresses that she found.
Since my pleading will be fruitless, I eventually gave up.
"Fine, I'll just look around and text me if you need anything" I peeked inside the dressing room.
After another few hours of looking for a dress, I was ready to go home but empty handed.
Tia texted me to meet her at the entrance of the store and I walked in a slow paced manner. Exhausted and empty handed.
When Tia saw me, she was waving her other free arm and I gave her a smile as an acknowledgment.
"Let's go sista!" She said grinning and holding all of her bags from her shopping spree.
