Students, teachers and staffs were already crowding each shop in the plaza. Kids were particularly interested with stuff made by the Technology department like flying boots, hologram games and other items I could not describe.

According to Riye, the Medical department conducted trials to make the water stay in their crystalline forms despite this kind of weather.

Ugh.

These past few days, madalas siyang pumupunta rito. Siguro dahil wala si Hiro sa kanila. He went to Shima to learn about his father's culture and background.

"Ah. Kay Michiko?"

Tumango naman ako. I knew my weapon wasn't meant for close-range fights but I wanted to improve my combat skills.

The Great Seven is a strange group. They are the most powerful people in the campus yet their personalities do not match their strengths.

'Is that a compliment?' biglang tanong ni Tita Naomi. Ugh. I still couldn't block her from reading my thoughts.

'Can I prevent you from doing that? I mean, your clan's innate ability of reading minds?' I asked but she just chuckled in return.

'Of course. You just need to train your mind. Your parents can both obstruct me from reading their minds.'

Napangiti naman ako. I already know that they are amazing but they never cease to surprise me with their superior skills. Sabagay, they were both born as leaders. Being able to conceal their thoughts from the Heren clan should be easy for them.

'Here comes the uncompromising one.'

Before I could react with her comment, I felt someone's presence approaching us with an incredible speed. The impact almost knock me out but I didn't have any time to assess the attack because I knew she'd be coming again.

"Oh! Nice defense!" she yelled from somewhere. "You're still conscious this time!"

Somehow, I managed to summon my bow and arrows within the time I felt her initial attack. But still, it wasn't fast enough to completely neutralize the impact. I placed my metal bow in front of me while scanning the surroundings. The first time we did this, I couldn't see anything because she was too quick for my eyes.

There!

Without wasting any second, I pulled an arrow and shot at her direction but she caught it with her left hand.

"Heh, you can follow my movements now," Ma'am Michiko remarked while standing on a tree branch. She looked at me and smirked. "Too bad I anticipated it."

The arrow she was holding launched another one and it grazed her left ear.

"Now that's an improvement," she said and her expression changed.

"I wouldn't mind if you two join hands," biglang sabi niya. "I'm gonna turn you both into minced meats!"

"I'll take care of the four. Is that alright with you?" Tita Naomi asked and for a second, I wasn't sure if they were just confusing me.

"Ohh, you're going to fight, Naomi? That's new," Ma'am Michiko commented.

"I'm getting rusty," sagot niya. "Besides, maganda ring mag-exercise ngayon."

She swung her fan with full force and I heard familiar voices around us. . .

Hiro?! Bakit siya nandito? At bakit may may hawak siyang scythe?

'Tsk. This is hard to control,' he muttered as he landed in front of me.

'How did she even know that we're here?!' tanong naman ni Akane habang kaharap nilang apat si Tita Naomi.

'As expected from them,' dagdag ni Reiji.

"This is great!" bulalas ni Ma'am Michiko. "Let's see kung kaya n'yo na kaming tapatan. Or are you guys still the same weaklings?"

Uh-oh.

"I'm gonna destroy your weapons," Hiro declared and the other four got motivated.

"Bring it on, brats," Ma'am Michiko retorted. "I'm gonna break your spirits."

And that was the moment Hiro regretted his words.

"Ouch, ouch, ouch, ouch!

"That's your fault nee-san," sabi naman ni Riye. "You called her hag."

The result was terrible. Except for that surprise attack I made with my arrow.

"Akemi!"

"Thank you."

'It looks cool,' sagot niya naman.

'Cool?' I asked back.

'This is the standard tool in their clan.'

'Oh. Then, will that be your new weapon?'

'Additional. I want to master it.'

'Pwede kang magpatulong kay Ma'am Michiko.'

He frowned upon hearing her name.

'No,' mariin niyang sagot.

'Bakit? Nahihiya ka ba?'

'No.'

'But there's no better teacher than Ma'am Michiko when it comes to handling weapons.'

He was definitely embarrassed.

He tapped the space beside him and I knew he already saw me even in this distance and despite facing the other side.

'A bit,' sagot naman niya.

Sobrang busy niya these past few months dahil sa pakikipag-usap sa iba't ibang tribes. It seemed like the leaders of the Erityian race are serious in establishing inter-tribal laws that would strengthen our alliance with each other.

"We're back, Mama," I greeted.

"What story do you want to know?" tanong niya at hindi ko na napigilan ang excitement ko.

"Library!" I said enthusiastically. "You said you spent a lot of time with her in the library."

I know it's still hard for him to talk about her but he said he could tell me the moments he had with her. That way, I'd learn about her and know her more.

I was about to ask what was it when a hologram of a woman suddenly emerged from it.

"Merry Christmas, Sir."

"Merry Christmas, Sir."

"Merry Christmas, Kuya Hideo!"

Sabay-sabay kong narinig ang boses nina Sir Hayate, Sir Hiroshi at Ma'am Reina mula roon pero mas nag-focus ako sa babaeng nakatayo ngayon sa harapan namin.

"Those kids . . ." he commented but I could see the yearning in his eyes.

My mother's image flickered in front of us and even though it wasn't the real her, seeing her smile at us was enough. I got to see how she looked like in person and I realized we really do have the same features.

We both looked back at her grave and said the same words.

'Merry Christmas, Mama.'

'Merry Christmas, Rielle.'

Even though we couldn't see nor hear us anymore, I know she was smiling wherever she might be. After all, she died thinking about her family and protecting them.

This time, we would be the ones protecting her memories and legacy.
