It was around eight the next morning at the tense Gilbert house when there was an urgent and loud knock before the twin sisters anxiously rushed towards the front door and saw the person that could help them with their problem; Alaric Saltzman. The two sisters had already knew the history teacher would be coming by as the younger Salvatore had texted Emily about an hour ago and told her that Damon had told Alaric about what happened with Isobel, so Emily and Elena both released a breath of relief, instead of being confused, at seeing their history teacher this early in the morning.

"Hey," Alaric quickly greeted Emily and Elena as he walked into the house before he began to look around the foyer and the living room for the strawberry blonde woman. But when the history teacher couldn't see his girlfriend anywhere, Alaric inquired, "is she up yet?"

Elena let out a heavy sigh as she slowly shook her head. "She won't even come out of her room," the Gilbert vampire explained to Alaric. The Gilbert twins had been trying to get Jenna out of her bedroom ever since they woke up a few hours ago. But sadly, Jenna wouldn't even let them know if she was okay or not.

Alaric glanced up towards the staircase where Jenna's bedroom is for a moment as he was worried about his girlfriend before he turned back around and faced the Gilbert twins. "What did you guys tell her?" The history teacher curiously asked as he wanted to know what he is working with. Damon had only told him that Isobel showed up, so Alaric wasn't exactly sure all what Jenna knew yet.

"Nothing really," Emily answered this time as she crossed her arms over her light blue sweater. The human girl shook her head with an exhausted sigh before she sadly murmured, "she won't even look at us, nonetheless talk to us." Emily hated that the cursed woman that is Isobel was the person who told Jenna the truth when she and Elena wanted to ease Jenna into their true lives when the time was right and not when Klaus is still a threat. But sadly, now they don't get that opportunity.

Alaric released a heavy sigh and briefly closed his eyes as knew this was going to be more difficult than he thought before he told the Gilbert twins, "we're gonna have to fix this." The history teacher knew that they couldn't just keep holding back the truth any longer now that Isobel had showed herself to Jenna.

"Well, we don't really have a choice anymore," Emily told Alaric as she shook her head. It wasn't like they could keep hiding the truth about Isobel now that Jenna has met the Flemming vampire. They had to tell Jenna everything that has happened for the strawberry blonde to, hopefully, trust them again. However, firstly, the strawberry blonde needed to come out of her bedroom.

It seemed like Emily's wish of wanting to talk to her aunt was finally being granted because after the Gilbert foyer grew silent for a moment, the aforementioned strawberry blonde came jogging down the wooden staircase. "Hey," the twin sisters hurriedly greeted their aunt in unison as it was the first time that they had seen Jenna since Isobel showed up at midnight.

"Jenna," the history teacher also greeted his girlfriend but in a much softer tone as he didn't exactly know how Jenna would react to him being here since the strawberry blonde woman had just met the one person that he has been lying to her about.

The strawberry blonde woman didn't even look up at the voices of her nieces and boyfriend as she made her way to the bottom of the staircase. Jenna only angrily told the older man, "I don't want you here, Ric. You need to go," before she headed straight towards the side closet without another sound.

Alaric took a steady deep breath as he knew he would get some sort of reaction like this from the strawberry blonde woman since he lied about something huge, so Alaric knew he just needed to stay calm and continue to try to get Jenna to understand. "Okay, listen," the history teacher softly uttered, "I can't begin to imagine what you must be feeling right now."

Jenna swiftly twirled around and faced Alaric at his statement before she snapped, "rage and betrayal would pretty much cover it." The strawberry blonde woman then turned back around and grabbed her light brown jacket from the closet. Jenna just couldn't even be in the same room of the people that lied to her as it was just too much to handle, so she decided she needed to leave.

Emily looked at her aunt in confusion as she just now noticed that Jenna was wearing jeans and a long sleeve shirt along with her giant purse like she wasn't planning on sticking around. "Where are you going?" The human girl wondered before she stated softly, "I thought we could have the chance to talk for a bit." Emily knew it was a little far fetched for Jenna to want to talk to them right now, but she just needed to try so Jenna could understand why they never told her the truth.

Jenna paused in her step at the soft tone of her oldest niece but quickly shook her head as she reminded herself that Emily also lied to her and that she couldn't allow herself to forgive Emily right now. The strawberry blonde woman then grabbed her purse from the ground after she placed her jacket on and continued her journey to the front door. "I'm going to stay on campus," Jenna finally explained where she is going once she grabbed her keys from the clear crystal bowl, "I have a thesis to write, and I don't want to be in this house."

The history teacher quickly walked towards the strawberry blonde woman before she could leave as Alaric hurriedly uttered, "Jenna, please just stop." Alaric then glanced over to the twin sisters beside him once Jenna, thankfully, turned and faced him before the history teacher desperately pleaded, "let us explain to you exactly what is going on."

The strawberry blonde woman acted like she didn't even hear Alaric before she finally turned her gaze onto her nieces. "Emily, Elena, I need one of you guys to go to the Lockwood's today and accept the Historical Society's check for your mom's foundation," Jenna ordered as she was going to be on campus and wouldn't be able to make it before she swiftly twirled around and opened the front door to finally leave all the secrets behind her.

"I'll call and tell Mrs. Lockwood that there's been a change," Emily softly promised her aunt as she didn't want Jenna to have to worry about anything else right now. The human girl then quickly uttered once she realized Jenna was finally looking at her, "before you leave, though, can I just tal-"

However, before Emily could finish asking if they could just talk for a minute, the strawberry blonde woman quickly interrupted her oldest niece as she exclaimed on the brink of tears, "I don't have it in me to hear anymore lies from you." Jenna then moved her eyes over to Elena and Alaric and added, "from any of you," before she stepped over the threshold and slammed the door behind her.

The Gilbert house immediately went deadly silent after the strawberry blonde had left as they; Emily, Elena, and Alaric, were overcome by the turmoil of Jenna shutting them down when all they wanted to do was to explain everything to her. They all just felt so helpless since Jenna wouldn't even allow them to try to tell her the truth about how Isobel is alive.

The thick silence in the Gilbert house, however, didn't last that much longer as not even a minute went by with the drowning thoughts of their problems occupying everyone's mind before the familiar and irritating voice of John Gilbert loudly uttered, "it's better that she's not here, what with everything that's going on." The older man then slowly walked up to his daughters and the vampire hunter before he looked at them with false sadness and uttered, "but maybe had you been a little more honest with her from the beginning, this..."

However, before John could finish belittling them over keeping Jenna out of the supernatural world, the angry Alaric Saltzman took one fast step forward before he lunged his right fist directly at his target - which happened to be the Gilbert man's nose. Alaric then took a deep breath as he felt better now that John wasn't talking before he quickly turned and faced the twins as he apologized, "sorry about that."

Emily immediately lifted her hands in the air as she shook her head. "If you didn't, I would have," the human girl told Alaric with a smirk as she was glad someone had hit John. Emily was so close to hitting her biological father before the history teacher did as she was not going to just let John talk crap about them just because they wanted to protect Jenna.

The Gilbert vampire gave Alaric a small wave as he walked out of the house before Elena faced her biological father with a grin. "You know this is your fault, right?" Elena inquired teasingly with a tilt of her head.

John wiped the fresh blood from under his nose as he silently nodded his head. "Right," the Gilbert man mumbled before he swiftly turned around and headed back into the room that he was originally in to get away from the embarrassment that had transpired with being punched.

Once their biological father walked back into the kitchen, the Gilbert twins couldn't help but look at each other and break out into a giggling mess. It was the first time in hours since either sister had broke out a smile, so it made them feel better - it was also plus that it came at the expense of John, too.

Finally, after a couple of minutes of laughing had passed, Emily linked her arm through her twin sister's and uttered, "come on. Let's go get ready for the Lockwood's." Emily figured that they could at least do this for Jenna after the stress that they had caused her. I was gonna go, anyways, Emily thought while she and Elena began to walk up the stairs as she always tries to go to anything that involves her mother's foundation to keep her legacy alive.

"So, what dress are you going to where?" Elena curiously wondered once she and Emily had reached the top of the stairs and began to walk down the hallway of bedrooms. The Gilbert vampire playfully rolled her brown eyes before she commented with a teasing smirk, "you'll probably wear something over the top."

Emily gaped at her twin sister in fake disbelief as she exaggeratedly placed her hand over her heart. "I do no-" the human girl had began but quickly closed her mouth once she and Elena had walked into her bedroom and noticed Stefan sitting on her bed while talking on his phone. Emily was confused as she wasn't expecting the Salvatore vampire to show up any time soon and definitely not in her bedroom.

However, Emily definitely didn't mind Stefan showing up unannounced, so she walked over towards her boyfriend and leaned down to place a gentle kiss onto his soft lips. Once Emily pulled away, Stefan quickly raised his finger in the air to keep the room silent before he took his phone away from his ear and placed it on speakerphone which immediately caused Caroline's nervous voice to be heard.

"I can't find him anywhere," the Forbes vampire frantically exclaimed through the phone as she hurriedly rushed out of her house. Caroline shook her head as she anxiously continued, "he's not at home. He's not answering his phone."

The Salvatore vampire tiredly shook his head as he knew today was going to be tough with the whole Isobel thing. But not only that, they now have to worry about the Donovan teenager telling everyone about vampires. "How could you let him go?" Stefan interrogated as he knew Caroline was smarter than to just let Matt go after telling him her secret.

"My mom walked in," Caroline quickly explained, "and he took off." The Forbes vampire threw her hands up in the air, even though she knew Stefan couldn't see it, before she murmured disappointingly, "I didn't know what to do."

Stefan let out a heavy sigh as he glanced over to the worried Gilbert sisters before he focused back onto the hysterical Caroline. "Did your mom hear anything?" The Salvatore vampire questioned as that was definitely the last thing that they needed right now. They already went through Liz finding out about them once and they didn't want to go through that again.

"No," Caroline promised before she explained about the short talk that she had with her mother when Matt had stormed out, "she just thinks we're fighting." The Forbes vampire then jumped in her car before she mumbled about her current problem with the Donovan teenager, "but he knows about me, and he's freaking out about Vicki."

The Salvatore vampire bit down on his bottom lip as he tried to think of what Caroline can do before he began, "all right, listen." Stefan pushed himself out of Emily's bed as he commanded the Forbes vampire, "you have to find him. You have to calm him down. Compel him if you have to." Stefan tiredly ran his fingers through his brown hair before he wondered, "is he still on vervain?"

Caroline anxiously tapped her fingers against the grey steering wheel of her Honda as she stated, "I slip it into his soda when he's at work, but I didn't get to last night, so it's out of his system." The Forbes vampire then quickly added and hung up before she could get scolded, "he has a catering shift at the Lockwood's today, so I'm gonna try there."

The Gilbert vampire let out a heavy sigh once Stefan ended the call and placed his cell phone into his pocket before she mumbled, "ah, this is bad." Elena shook her head before she glanced between her twin sister and the Salvatore vampire as she uttered, "between Isobel and Jenna and now Matt, this is disaster bad."

Emily leaned her elbows on her knees and threw her head into her hands before she mumbled, "if it's not one thing, it's another." The human Petrova doppelganger felt like they could never catch a break. She thought that they only had to worry about the whole Isobel and Jenna problem but now they had to worry about Matt telling the whole world about vampires. Elena is right, this is a disaster, Emily thought as she let out a loud groan.

The Salvatore vampire silently walked and sat next to his stressed out girlfriend on the bay window seat before he pulled Emily into his arms. "We'll figure it out," Stefan promised in a whisper before he placed a soft kiss onto the human girl's brown hair.

The large bedroom in the Gilbert house grew silent for a moment after Stefan's promise as they all really hoped that they could actually fix all this mess with Matt and, of course, with Jenna. However, the tranquility didn't last very long as John, once again, interrupted another silent moment with his presence like he did in foyer only a few minutes ago. "Emily, Elena, can you guys come downstairs, please?" The Gilbert man asked as he leaned his body against the doorway before he stated, "I need to talk to you guys."

Elena let out an emotionless chuckle as she crossed her arms over her purple sweater. "I have nothing to say to you," the Gilbert vampire told her biological father. She then glanced over to Emily, where she noticed the irritated look on her twin's face, before she added, "we don't want anything to do with you."

John took a step into his oldest daughter's bedroom before he pleaded, "please. It's important." The Gilbert man then glanced over to his daughter's boyfriend before he added with a nod of his head, "you, too, Stefan."

Emily glanced between her boyfriend and sister in confusion as her interest was piqued at the fact that John also wanted Stefan in the conversation. So being the curious person she is, Emily stood up from her seat and mumbled, "come on," before she tiredly followed John down the stairs.

However, before Emily could follow John into the kitchen, she saw someone that she definitely didn't think would show their face here anytime soon; Isobel. The Flemming vampire gave her two daughters a tiny smile before she uttered, "I asked John for a do-over."

Elena swiftly moved her brown eyes to her biological father with anger and disbelief. "You invited her in?" The Gilbert vampire interrogated. Elena couldn't believe that John was really that stupid to let Isobel in the house when all she does is ruin everything she touches. Now no one is safe inside the Gilbert house since Isobel can come in whenever she wants.

"She has information about Klaus," the twin's father explained to why he allowed Isobel inside of the house. But when John saw the distrust and annoyance on Emily and Elena's face, he begged with a sigh, "please, just listen to her, okay?"

Emily silently sighed as she glanced between her biological parents before she moved her green eyes over to her twin sister with a pointed look. The human girl would rather spend her day with someone other than these two people, but Emily knew it was worth a shot to see what Isobel found out about Klaus. She promised to fight, so if Emily has to listen to the two people she hates, then she would do it for her loved ones. So instead of being the stubborn person she usually would be with talking to Isobel, Emily pointed her hand towards the dining room table and muttered, "let's talk."

The dysfunctional family and the younger Salvatore vampire silently moved towards the large oak table at the agreement from the Gilbert twins. There was only the sound of chairs scraping against the ground before everyone took their place around the table and the Flemming vampire began. "Since I was last here," Isobel explained, "I've been doing everything possible to find Klaus." The Flemming vampire moved her eyes over towards her human daughter before continuing softly, "we knew our best chance was to find him before he could find you."

The Salvatore vampire's brows furrowed as he glanced over to Isobel while he held Emily's hand in his to offer her some comfort. "Best chance at what?" Stefan inquired as he didn't understand what the young vampire was talking about.

"Keeping Emily alive," John answered for Isobel before he glanced over to his vampire daughter. "Keeping you both alive," the Gilbert man corrected himself. John knew all there was to know about the sacrifice, so he knew there was still a chance that Klaus could use Elena as his vampire sacrifice.

"You don't get to talk, okay," Elena angrily exclaimed as she pointed at the man that, sadly, gave her life. The Gilbert vampire shook her head before she muttered, "not after everything you've done." John was the last person on Earth that gets to talk about keeping her and Emily alive when all he does is ruin everything for them.

Emily lightly placed her hand onto Elena's shoulder to keep her twin sister calm before she moved her green eyes over to Isobel in wonder. "So, what did you find?" The human girl inquired with a raised eyebrow, "did you find Mr. Big and Bad?"

Isobel shook her head and mumbled, "no." The Flemming vampire ran her right hand through her dark hair as she explained what happened when she tried to find Klaus, "nobody knows where is but there are these rumors that are flying around." Isobel then moved her eyes over to her oldest daughter before she continued, "that a human doppelganger exists."

John silently stood up from the dining room table and stood in front of his two daughters with a serious look. "Which means any vampire that wants to get in favor with Klaus will be lining up to capture you," the Gilbert man added to what Isobel had left off as he stared solely at his human daughter, who will be every vampire's target.

Emily couldn't help but roll her green eyes at her biological father and mumble, "been there, done that." The thought of someone capturing her, made the human girl automatically think back to the masquerade ball when Trevor and Rose had kidnapped her and Elena for Elijah and their freedom. Emily definitely didn't want to have to go through that again.

Elena shook her head as she stood up from her chair and gave Isobel a glare before she stated, "I'm not buying any of this." The Gilbert vampire crossed her arms over her purple sweater as she explained, "the last time you were here, you made it clear that you didn't give a damn about me or Emily." She then rose an eyebrow before Elena let out a humorless chuckle and uttered, "now all of a sudden we're supposed to believe that you want to help?"

Emily nodded her head in agreement as she muttered, "Lena's right." Isobel had wanted nothing to do with them except from the Gilbert device and hurting their friends the last time that she showed her face in Mystic Falls, so something smells fishy. "You don't just help people out of the goodness of your heart," Emily told Isobel as she also stood up from her spot and stared down at her biological mother. "You especially don't help out your daughters," the human girl added before she wondered with a twitch of her head, "so what are you getting out of this?"

"Isobel's been helping all along," John defended the Flemming vampire. "Klaus has been obsessed with finding Katherine for centuries," the Gilbert man explained, "all it would take was one of those 1864 tomb vampires to spread the word around that Katherine was still alive and it would bring him straight here to Mystic Falls, where you both were bound to be discovered." John then shrugged his shoulders as he glanced over at Isobel before he stated, "so we killed them."

Oh, that is the wrong thing to bring up, Emily thought as she took a threatening step towards her biological father. "You tried to kill our boyfriends that night in the process, so you are really not pleading your case the right way, John," the human girl snarled.

"Emily, please," Isobel begged as she stopped her daughter from her plan of attacking John. "I know you have Darina's journal," the Flemming vampire mentioned which immediately caused Emily to turn towards her - like Isobel wanted. Isobel then placed her hand over her undead heart as she uttered softly, "I just want to help keep you alive. I even have a safe house that I can take the both of you to." Isobel pointing at the human girl as she continued, "the deed is in your name. No vampires can get in without your permission, not even me. Please let me help you."

Emily's brows furrowed as she stared across at her biological mother. The human girl just couldn't get behind that Isobel was actually here to help. It just didn't make sense that Isobel decided that now she would help after all this time. Emily didn't trust her for a second. They were doing perfectly fine without her, so Emily finally told her biological mother with a confident expression, "we don't need nor do we want you here, Isobel. So, don't let the door hit you on the way out."

Emily just had this bad feeling in the pit of her stomach with Isobel here. She could understand John trying to make up for his mistakes, and Katherine who wants to do right by Darina but Isobel is a vindictive bitch who only cares about herself. So there was no way in hell that she just changes her mind and decides to help her daughters. Emily would rather focus on defeating Klaus on their own instead of worrying about what Isobel is planning. Maybe it's about time to wake Elijah, Emily thought to herself as she watched John and Isobel walk out of the Gilbert house as she knew without a doubt that she could trust the attractive original.

***

SALVATORE BOARDING HOUSE

It was about an hour after Isobel had showed up for the second time in one day before the Gilbert twins found themselves sitting in the library of the boarding house with the Salvatore brothers. Elena had just explained to Damon about what Isobel had told them about wanting to help. "Do you really think that Isobel's telling the truth that word's gotten out about the doppelganger?" The Gilbert vampire worriedly asked as she leaned her head onto Damon's shoulder while she stared across at her twin sister. Elena knew they are in big trouble if Isobel is right as everyone in Mystic Falls immediately becomes a suspect of wanting to please Klaus.

"Look, I don't trust a word that she says," Stefan began as he softly ran his hand along the human girl's thigh before he stated, "but I think we'd be stupid to ignore the warning." The Salvatore vampire didn't want it to be true, but they couldn't just push the warning away when it wouldn't be first time someone has tried to kidnap Emily because of her being the Petrova doppelganger.

"Well, what are we supposed to do then?" Emily inquired with a raised eyebrow. If Isobel was really telling the truth that the word of the human doppelganger is out then no place is safe for her. "It's not like you guys can be with me twenty four-seven," the Gilbert girl muttered as that was unrealistic. Emily just didn't have a clue how she was suppose to keep safe and keep her loved ones from getting hurt in the process. There was just too many variables.

"You know, you could always just stay here," Damon suggested. The older Salvatore shrugged his shoulders as he added, "you basically live here, anyways." Damon then glanced over to Elena with a nod of his head before he told the human girl, "that way we can keep an eye on you."

Stefan looked at his brother like he was absolutely crazy. "What, in the house that any vampire can enter?" The younger Salvatore asked before he quickly shook his head and stated, "no. Their house is safer." The boarding house was the worse place on Earth that Emily should be at when every enemy that they ever had knew where they live.

"I can be on Emily duty during the mornings and nights, then," the Gilbert vampire told the Salvatore brothers with complete confidence. They live under the same roof, anyways, so Elena could protect her twin sister from anyone that tries to come into the Gilbert house.

Emily huffed out a loud sigh at the agreeing vampires. "I'm not going to be a prisoner in my hometown," the human girl muttered in annoyance. It was no way for her to live with vampires breathing down her neck or jumping when someone approaches her. Emily liked to face everything head on, so she wasn't going to hide like that.

"Well, let me know when you come up with a better plan, but until then you are going to be our inmate," Damon told the human girl with a large smirk as he knew it would annoy her. Despite his teasing, though, Damon did agree with Elena and Stefan as it's not safe for Emily to be out in the open anymore with Klaus closing in.

The human girl let out a heavy huff before she mumbled stubbornly, "fine." Emily knew she was never going to win with all three vampires agreeing with each other, so she decided to give their plan a chance. But if things don't work, Emily's not going to hide. She was going to fight no matter what to make sure her loved ones don't get hurt.

"Well, it looks like it's warden Elena's turn to babysit the inmate," Emily uttered as she shot Damon a sarcastic smile. The human girl then stood up from her seat before she told her twin sister, "come on. We gotta go get ready for the Lockwood's event for mom's foundation."

The Gilbert vampire nodded her head as she remembered the promise that they made to Jenna. Elena then gave Damon a quick kiss before she asked the Salvatore brothers once she was standing beside her twin sister, "so which one of you will be joining us?"

The younger Salvatore vampire stood from his seat in the library and joined the Gilbert sisters at the edge of the room. Stefan gave his girlfriend a playful smile and pulled her into a loving kiss before he uttered, "that'd be me."

Damon shook his head when he noticed the brown doe eyes of his girlfriend staring at him. "Not me," the older Salvatore vampire stated before he explained why he couldn't join them to the Lockwood mansion, "I have witch stuff to attend to with Bonnie."

Elena rose an eyebrow at her boyfriend as she grew curious. "Does that mean that you're taking her to the..." The Gilbert vampire began to question as Damon had mentioned earlier that he and Bonnie were going to the house of one hundred dead witches.

However, before Elena finish asking her question, though, the older Salvatore vampire swiftly vamp sped in front of his girlfriend before he placed his finger against Elena's lips while he whispered, "shh."

Elena looked into Damon's blue eyes in confusion as she didn't understand his problem. However, the Gilbert vampire soon realized why he told her to be quiet when she heard the loud noise of a pair of expensive heels clicking on the ground of the Salvatore library.

"Don't get quiet on my account," the newly arrived Katherine stated with a wide smirk as she walked into the room. The Petrova vampire glanced at each silent person in the library before she ordered as she crossed her arms over her black tank top, "if you have a plan to combat the impending vampire doom, please do tell."

But when no one said anything and the Salvatore brothers only glanced at one another, Katherine continued as she interrogated, "seriously, what is the plan to get us out of this mess, hmm?" The Petrova vampire slowly and tauntingly walked around the room as she listed off, "I delivered you a moonstone, a werewolf, and the dagger to lure and kill Klaus, and right now all you have is a moonstone." Katherine then shot Damon look with a raised eyebrow before she muttered, "or so you tell me."

Damon shook his head at the Petrova vampire's accusation before he simply told Katherine about the milky rock that is the moonstone, "no, we have it."

Katherine twitched her head to the side as she stared at the grinning older Salvatore vampire. "Where is it?" The Petrova vampire wondered curiously. Katherine did not need the brothers to lose the moonstone when they didn't know exactly when Klaus would pop up for the sacrifice. It is essential that everything goes smoothly for Darina and Maria's plan to work for the human girl.

The older Salvatore shot Katherine a wide smirk as he slowly took a step closer towards her. Damon then glanced up like he was thinking of where the location of the moonstone is before he finally exclaimed, "it's in a very safe place."

Katherine let out a low growl when she didn't get the answer she wanted about the location of the moonstone. "I've been honest with you," the Petrova vampire snapped before she commanded, "time to return the favor."

Damon let out a small chuckle as he took another step towards the irritated doppelganger and began, "let me be honest with you." The Salvatore vampire then lightly touched Katherine's bouncy curls before he uttered with a smirk, "don't mistake the fact that we haven't set you on fire in your sleep for trust."

Katherine glanced each vampire in the library and immediately noticed that they wouldn't even look at her. The Petrova vampire let out a heavy snarl before she snapped irritatedly, "fine. Be that way." Katherine was not going to beg but it still annoyed her that they wouldn't tell her where the moonstone is. The future of the Protectors of the Innocent's and Darina's plan depended on that moonstone - but Katherine couldn't let them in on that secret just yet.

The Petrova vampire moved her brown eyes over to her sister's doppelganger for a moment before she let out a small sigh when Emily mouthed, 'it's safe.' Katherine felt a tiny bit better that Emily trusted her enough to let her know the moonstone was still in their possession. The Petrova vampire then gave the human girl a silent nod while the three vampires conversed before she finally took her exit with a small smirk shining across her face with one last thought playing through her mind - I won't disappoint you, Dari.

LOCKWOOD MANSION

The human Petrova doppelganger elegantly moved through the ballroom filled with residents of Mystic Falls in her short but flowing dark blue dress as she greeted the many people that were filling up the Lockwood mansion for the charity luncheon like the darling child she is. Emily didn't mind having to talk to so many people, unlike like Elena, hence the reason why the Gilbert vampire was leaning against the wall while she and Stefan watched in amusement as Emily talked to all the rich and influential people.

Emily was just finishing talking with the second in command of her mother's charity for the historical society when the woman of the mansion came charging towards her with a bright smile adoring her face. "Emily! Darling!" Mrs. Lockwood loudly gushed once she reached the teenage girl before she pulled Emily into a tight hug. "It's so good to see you," the mayor expressed once they pulled away before she asked, "aren't you excited for today?"

The human girl gave the mayor a polite smile as she nodded her head. "Of course, Mrs. Lockwood," Emily answered as she squeezed the woman's lower arm. "This foundation meant the world to my mother, so I wouldn't dream of being anywhere else," the Gilbert girl uttered truthfully. Emily had always wanted to follow more into her father's footsteps as a doctor, but she knew how much her mother worked to keep the preservation of their small town's history together and her published books of Mystic Falls, so Emily felt like she had to be involved to keep her mother's memory going.

Mrs. Lockwood gave the teenage girl a kind smile before she uttered, "I'm so glad to see you and Elena here for Miranda. I know she would have been proud of you two." The mayor then let a small sigh escape her lips at the thought of Miranda's children when she hadn't seen hers in weeks. "Y-You wouldn't have heard from Tyler lately, have you?" Mrs. Lockwood anxiously asked as she nervously crossed her arms over her dark purple dress.

Emily looked at the mayor with sorrow in her green eyes as she felt bad that Mrs. Lockwood didn't even know where Tyler is. She could only imagine it's be hard for a mother without her child, so Emily tried to assure the woman as much as she could as she uttered, "I got a text from him a few days ago. Ty said he's happy."

Mrs. Lockwood let out a heavy breath of relief and murmured, "good." The older woman nodded her head with a wider smile and added, "that's good." Mrs. Lockwood then surprised the teenage girl by pulling Emily into a tight hug before she whispered into her ear, "thank you for always be there for Tyler when Richard and I couldn't."

Emily hugged the older woman back just as tightly as she knew herself how hard it is to not have Tyler around. The human girl misses her best friend but she knew that Tyler was trying to figure out his werewolf side, so she's understanding to why he isn't in Mystic Falls - unlike Mrs. Lockwood, who was just confused and heartbroken. "He'll be back," Emily promised the older woman once they pulled away from each other with an assuring smile.

The human girl happened to glance over the mayor's shoulder once she gave the older woman a smile which she's glad she did as she noticed the Forbes vampire walking towards her twin sister and boyfriend. Emily wanted to see if Caroline had found Matt, so she looked up at Mrs. Lockwood with an apologetic smile before she uttered politely, "if you excuse me, mayor, but Elena is calling me over."

Mrs. Lockwood quickly nodded her head in understanding before she stated with a smile, "of course!" The mayor pointed towards the large platform stage behind the teenage girl and continued, "I need to get started on the presentation." The older woman then placed her hand onto Emily's shoulder with an excited grin and exclaimed, "I'll see you up there," before she swiftly turned around and headed to officially start the luncheon.

Emily barely even gave the excited mayor a second glance before she was flying through the crowd of people with perfect grace in her black high heels. It only took the human girl about a minute or two of trying to not get wrapped in passing residents conversations before she was finally in front of her boyfriend, Caroline, and her twin sister.

"Hey," Emily uttered softly as she gave her blonde best friend a small smile and squeezed the blonde vampire's shoulder. "Did you find Matt?" The human girl wondered as she settled herself between her twin sister and her boyfriend.

"No," Caroline pouted before her anxiety instantly began to takeover her emotions like they always do now that she's a vampire. "What if he tells somebody?" The blonde hurriedly asked as her blue eyes swiftly glanced between her three friends, "what if he tells everybody?" Caroline didn't know what she would do if Matt was telling everyone about vampires. The one thing she did know, though, - it would be her fault.

"No, we just gotta find him and make sure that doesn't happen," Stefan quickly assured the erratic blonde vampire. The younger Salvatore then thought for a moment to where Matt could have gone to before he turned his gaze onto the Gilbert twins. "Do you guys have any idea where he would be?" Stefan wondered as he knew Emily and Elena have always had a close relationship with the Donovan teenager.

Elena shook her head sadly as she had no clue where Matt could be. "I wish I did," the Gilbert vampire murmured before she stated, "he wasn't really one to run." Even though Elena did date Matt, she didn't know where he would have went as he had always just dealt with stuff head on. Speaking of dealing with things head on, Elena thought before she moved her eyes to her twin sister and wondered, "do you know where he would have gone?"

The human girl bit down on her bottom lip as she tried to think. However, Emily come up empty handed. Yeah, she and Matt were close but the Donovan teenager never did come to her with his problems - that was always Tyler's position. "I'm sorry," Emily apologized as she stared across at her blonde best friend before she suggested, "maybe you could try the park. That's where Ty and I would always go when we were feeling down, so maybe Tyler took Matt there too."

Caroline silently nodded her head before she gave her best friend a small smile and muttered, "thanks." The Forbes vampire then let out a heavy sigh as she realized just how messed up things have been. "You know, this wasn't how it was supposed to happen," Caroline ranted as she anxiously ran her fingers through her wavy blonde hair, "you know, I was supposed to tell him at the right moment in the right way, and he was supposed to be okay with it because he loves me."

Emily felt bad for her best friend. Caroline is basically running all around Mystic Falls trying to find the Donovan teenager after she entrusted him with her secret of being a vampire. The human girl wished she could do more but she had so much other stuff happening with Jenna and Isobel, so Emily just offered one last piece of assurance, "we'll find him and we'll figure this out." It's not like I could do any better than the vampire, anyway, the Gilbert girl thought as they first need to find Matt and her human speed wouldn't exactly help much.

The human girl then immediately focused onto the large stage behind her when she heard hers and Elena's name being called. "I'll go," Emily assured her twin sister like she usually does as she is more of a people person than Elena during events like this. The Gilbert girl then leaned beside her and pulled Stefan into a quick kiss and gave Caroline a small squeeze of her shoulder before she fast walked towards the stage with a polite smile adoring her face.

"And on the behalf of the Miranda Sommers-Gilbert scholarship fund, please help me welcome our very own Emily Gilbert!" The Lockwood woman exclaimed into the podium's microphone once the teenager girl began to climb up onto the stage which immediately caused the ballroom filled with residents to clap for the familiar teenager.

Emily gave the older woman a wide grin as she accepted the gold and red envelope filled with the check for her mother's foundation. The human girl took a deep breath once she was facing the crowd of people but when she found Stefan and Elena's smiling faces, she gained her confidence and began.

"Miranda, my mother, cherished the Historical Society with everything she had," Emily uttered into the microphone, "she believed that everything in Mystic Falls was meant to be preserved for generations to come." Emily let a soft smile reach her lips as memories of her mother began to takeover her mind. "It's an honor to accept this gift for my mother. She would have been so proud of the work everyone continues in her name to continue to preserve Mystic Falls. So on behalf of my mother, Miranda, my father, Grayson, and my siblings; Elena and Jeremy, and I - we thank you."

The sweet moment by the human girl, however, didn't last long as she had wanted of wanting to honor her mother because not even a second of silence went by before there was this loud noise of something falling down the stairs. All the residents of Mystic Falls quickly jumped up from their seats to see what was wrong which immediately caused Emily to be curious. So being the inquisitive person she is, Emily slowly walked towards the stairs of the stage before she went to jog towards the crowd of worried residents.

However, though, before Emily could see what was going on by the staircase, she felt someone touch her neatly placed hair that was in a high bun and felt someone whisper into her ear, "I'm sorry about this, Emily," and instantly felt something against her temple before everything for the human girl turned her dark.
