Hey guys! We finally get to the chapter of the Watermelon Stevens! But are there new people too? Anyway, here's the new chapter!
-Luna's POV-
"Man, what a crazy week," I said yawning, heading to my mother's cave.
It's been a while since I've been to my mother's room, so I thought I visit it today, even though it was early. It's been crazy since the dinner night with Connie's parents. But now, I have the chance to visit it. It's been almost a month since Lapis left earth and I worry everyday that she will be okay. Did she even get to Home world yet? As I got closer to the cave, I noticed that the moon on the cave wall was slightly blue.
"That's unusual," I mumbled, walking up to the wall and placing my gem into the indent. The wall glowed and revealed the staircase that led down into my mother's room. As I walked down, I noticed a soft light glowing from my mother's room. I'm hoping it's from the crystal on the ceiling. I reached the bottom of the stairs and stopped.
The light was coming from the crystals....but it wasn't in that sense.
In front of me, WERE the crystals from my mom's ceiling. But....apparently they can take form as people of a sort. They weren't like gems, but they looked similar to them. The crystals had taken form as people and, apparently on how the crystal looks, depends on how the crystal takes form as a person. I noticed their skin was slightly see through but was mostly a milky white, like a star. You could see the blue glow on there chest were a heart would be if they were human. There were around fifteen standing or sitting in front of me, staring at me.
It was a mixed group; some looked female and others looked male. Some looked like children and others looked like around late seventy early eighties. All were wearing different styles of clothing, but they all looked the same in that they seemed to be the same kind.
One little girl crystal stepped from the group and said, "Are you Lucine?"
"N-no," I said. "That was my mom. I have her gem now." I showed my moonstone to the group and they gasped. Instantly they all fell to their knees and bowed to me, even the little girl standing in front of me. I took a step back, confused. "Um, what are you doing?"
The little girl lifted her head and said, "We're saying hello."
I giggled and quickly coughed, trying not to offend anybody. "You don't have to bow to me," I said, helping the little girl up. "You can just say hi or wave to me."
"Okay," the girl said, sounding a little confused but relieved.
"So..." I said, looking at the group. "What are you guys?"
"We're called 'Star People'," the girl said. "Your mother would take care of us, where we grew on the ceiling above the pool." At this, she pointed at the area where the crystals used to be on the ceiling above the pool.
"From there, when the moon was full, we would fall from the ceiling not the water. Where the current would take us to our island home where we would live and grow in a community. But...." at this she stopped talking and looked away.
"What?" I asked, concerned.
"Well, if it's true that you have your mother's gem, then that must mean it's been a very long time since she grew any crystals. Would that mean our people are still on the island we're suppose to go?"
"I don't know," I said, not sure how to answer her question. "But why didn't you go into the pool and go with the current to the island?"
"Well, when we fell from the ceiling not the pool, there was no water. We took form on the full moon and we climbed out, confused on where the water was. We've been here ever since."
I silently cursed; they must've fell when Lapis was here and took the ocean, thus taking the water from the pool here. "Well, if you were to go into the ocean now, would you be able to find your way back to your home island?" I asked, trying to think of ways to help them. The girl nodded and I smiled, "Alright then. Let's go."
I lead the group up and out of the cave. When the walked into the sunlight, the milky light on them become much softer so they wouldn't be blinding anybody with he extra light from the sun. As we walked down the hill, I looked into the distance to see towards the gem temple. The sand by it was oddly green. Maybe from seaweed or algae?
"LUNA!" I heard. I looked down the hill and saw Circo running up the hill towards me. When he got to me, he was panting and was bent over, trying to catch his breath. "Circo? What's wrong?" I asked, placing a hand on his shoulder.
"We got trouble," he said. "Steven has apparently to make plant life grow and they become fighters. And the watermelon Stevens-"
"Watermelon Stevens?" I asked, confused.
"Yeah. They are attacking the town and people!"
"But why are they at the temple? I'm guessing that green stuff is them?" Circo looked and his face fell. "Oh geez!"
"Are they attacking the temple!?" I asked, starting to panic. Circo grabbed my first and said, "We got to go help!"
"We're coming too," said the little girl stepping forward. Circo looked and now noticed the Star People behind me. He raised an eyebrow and said, "I'll explain on the way." I turned to the little girl and said, "Are you sure? We may have to fight."
The little girl smirked, "Don't worry. We're a lot stronger then we look."
I smiled and we all ran down the hill, towards the temple. As we ran, I explained everything about the Star People to Circo. He seemed to understand and we reached the beach just as I finished. When we got there, we could tell it was already bad. The gems were fighting the melons, but they were losing.
I turned the group and said, "You all ready?"
They all cheered and we charged towards the melons. Circo summoned his sword and I ran towards the house to grab my bow. I made it up the porch and grabbed it. I summoned and arrow and put it to the string, ready to let it fly. I scanned the scene; it looked like the Star People attacked by surprise and was doing a number on the watermelons. Even Circo was hacking away at them.
I aimed an arrow and a melon. Just then, I heard a voice yell, "Wait, Luna!" I looked and saw Steven standing to my left, holding his hands up for me to stop, and a baby melon standing next to him. I pointed the arrow at the baby melon, and said, "Stay away from Steven!"
"He's not going to hurt me!" Steven said, putting an arm out to protect it. I lowered my bow and and arrow and nodded, understanding. "We can't destroy them! They don't understand that we don't mean any harm."
"Luna!" I heard. We both looked and saw that the melons were starting to over power Circo and the Star People. "A little help here!" he shouted, starting to lose against the melons.
"How are we going to convince them though?!" I asked, letting an arrow fly so that a melon wouldn't pin Circo down.
"I got an idea," Steven said. He ran down the steps, and both baby melon and I followed. He then started waving his arms and jumped up and down, trying to get the melons attention. As he did so, the melons over powered the Star people and were at the moment trying to keep them down. Circo was struggling under a large pile of melons.
"Steven," I said, summoning another arrow and taking down another melon. "You don't do something soon these melons are going to do more then just pin everybody down."
Steven turned to his baby melon and said, "This is bad baby, Melly. How do we end this carnage?"
The baby melon bowed it's head and punched Steven. I gasped, shocked at what just happened, and it caught all the melons attention. They hissed at Baby Melon and jumped in the air, ready to tackle baby melon. Baby Melon stood it's ground and stretched its arms, ready for it's fate.
I helped Steven up, just as the melons attacked Baby Melon. Steven rushed over and pushed the melons out of the way, only to find the remains of baby melon. He knelt down and held the remains of baby watermelon. As Steven stood up, and started talking to the melons, the Star people came over to me.
The little girl stepped forward and said, "We can take the melons to our island, if he wants."
"Are you sure?" I asked, a bit concerned of how they just fought with each other.
She nodded, "They didn't know any better. We can show them there's more to living then fighting."
I smiled, and nodded. As Steven sent the melons away, the Star people rounded them up and, by groups, lead them into the ocean, where there island home was waiting. The little girl turned and waved to me before entering the water. I smiled and waved back.
Circo placed a hand on my shoulder, "You alright?"
I sniffled a little and wiped a tear from my eye. "Yeah," I said, nodding. "I'm just glad that they'll finally be able to go home."
He smiled, "We should probably head back to the temple and help the others."
I nodded and turned to face the temple. The temple wasn't just my home. Beach city, my mother's cave, the whole place was my home.
And I never wanted to leave it.
