"A double date?" Haru pondered. They had recently let Nagisa and Rei know about their relationship and of course Nagisa, being Nagisa, prompted to Makoto that they go on a double date.
"Yeah, I mean we've only been on one date and it will be a good chance to see the two of them before school starts up." Makoto explained.
Haru reminisced about their first date. He remembered the kiss and the boat and he remembered how perfect it was. Of course this date wouldn't be like that, but it would give him an excuse to have some good food at least.
"Yeah, that sounds like a good idea." Haru agreed. "So, when is it?" Haru asked before taking a sip of water.
"Tonight...." Makoto mumbled.
Haru spit the water out from his mouth. "Tonight?! Why tonight?!"
"Nagisa said that this was the last day he could do something before school."
"And you didn't think that this was important enough to tell me?" Haru inquired.
"I forgot." Makoto said sheepishly, scratching the back of his neck.
Haru's distress melted away as Makoto let a sweet smile spread across his face. "Alright, so what's the plan?" Haru sighed.
"We're going to meet them for dinner and the summer festival is happening in town tonight as well, so we figured we'd go there too." Makoto explained.

Haru gradually sank into the warm bath water. He let the water cover his bare skin that was previously covered in goosebumps from the brisk air. The warmth of the water made Haru's cheeks flush a tint of rosy pink a little bit and he sank further down into the tub so that just above his nose was visible above the water. He closed his eyes, trying to relax.
Recently, Haru couldn't stop thinking about Makoto. He constantly wanted his affection. It was like a drug, and there was no doubt that he was an addict. Even if it's just little things like a hand on his shoulder, it meant everything to Haru.
Since he grew up without parents around, he didn't obtain much affection. That would probably explain his behavior. He doesn't know how to give affection, because it's still foreign to him.
But slowly but surely, that's starting to change.
The more he is with Makoto, the more used to it he gets and the more he yearns for it. The arm around his waist and shoulders. The hand that is intertwined with his own. Having his head in the crook of his neck. The hand that places itself upon his thigh. The hugs. The kisses, whether languid and gentle or eager and lustful. The cuddling. All of it. He craves it.
As Haru's head is fully submerged in the water, his thoughts clear. His body is getting used to the temperature of the water, and it is getting colder; his fingers have pruned up.
Cold air hit his body as he stood up from the bath. He grabbed the towel that was folded on the shelf next to the tub. He hastily dried off his body and wrapped the towel around his waist.
The mirror had fogged up. Haru wiped the condensation from the mirror with his hand. He observed his face in the mirror. He didn't understand what Makoto saw in him. But he was glad that Makoto did see what he saw in him, or else they would just be friends still.
Back in his room, he put on a pair of boxer shorts and browsed through his closet for an outfit. He was conflicted. Was the restaurant casual or fancy? How would he have to dress?
Without a second thought he walked out of his room to Makoto's. He knocked on the door and opened it when he heard Makoto tell him to enter.
Haru could see Makoto's breath catch in his throat. He saw him half naked every time they swam, so he didn't understand why Makoto got so embarrassed.
"Well I mean, you get all flustered and stuff when you see Makoto like that too...."
"Yeah but that's different."
"How?"
"He's hot."
"Are you calling me ugly?"
"You practically called yourself unattractive like 5 minutes ago."
"Haru?"
Haru snapped out of his inner monologue. "Oh yeah, how am I supposed to dress?"
"The restaurant's pretty casual." Makoto replied as he dug through his drawers for a pair of jeans.
"Okay, thanks." Haru said. He went to walk out but stopped himself. He turned around and walked towards Makoto.
He crouched down behind him and placed his arms around his chest, giving him a hug. "I love you."
Makoto chuckled and leaned back into Haru's chest. "I know. I love you too."
"I know."
